Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) is a folk rock supergroup made up of David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, also known as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY) when joined by occasional fourth member Neil Young.

Song lyrics[edit]

  • Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
    We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
    Four dead in Ohio.
    • Ohio, written by Neil Young.

Crosby, Stills & Nash (1969)[edit]

  • It's getting to the point where I am no fun anymore, I am sorry.
Sometimes it hurts so badly I must cry out loud, '˜I am lonely.'
I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are. You make it hard.
  • Chestnut brown canary, ruby throated sparrow,
Sing a song, don't be long, thrill me to the marrow.
Voices of the angels, ring around the moonlight,
Asking me, said, she so free, how can you catch the sparrow?
Lacy, lilting lyrics, losing love lamenting. Change my life, make it right, be my lady.
    • Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.
  • Sweeping cobwebs from the edges of my mind,
Had to get away to see what we could find.
Hope the days that lie ahead
Bring us back to where they've led.
Listen not to what's been said to you.

Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express?
Wouldn't you know we're riding on the Marrakesh Express?
    They're taking me to Marrakesh.
All aboard the train, all aboard the train.

  • Guinnevere had green eyes
    Like yours, mi'lady, like yours.
When she'd walk down through the garden
In the morning after it rained.

    Peacocks wandered aimlessly
    Underneath an orange tree.
    Why can't she see me?

  • Wooden ships on the water, very free and easy.
Easy, you know the way it's supposed to be.
Silver people on the shoreline, let us be,
Talkin' 'bout very free and easy...
Horror grips us as we watch you die.
All we can do is echo your anguished cries.
Stare as all human feelings die.
We are leaving - you don't need us.
  • Holding you close undisturbed before the fire,
The pressure in my chest when you breath in my ear.
We both knew this would happen when you first appeared,
    My lady of the island.
  • Helplessly hoping her harlequin hovers nearby,
    Awaiting a word.
Gasping at glimpses of gentle true spirit he runs,
    Wishing he could fly,
Only to trip at the sound of goodbye.
  • I'm flying in Winchester cathedral
Sunlight pouring through the break of day
Stumbled through the door and into the chamber...
And a feeling deep inside of me
Tells me this can't be the place... I'm flying in Winchester cathedral
All religion has to have its day
Expressions on the face of the Savior
Made me say I can't stay...
    • "Cathedral," written by Graham Nash

Déjà Vu (1970)[edit]

  • You, who are on the road must have a code that you can live by.
And so become yourself because the past is just a goodbye.
Teach your children well, their father's hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams, the one they pick, the one you'll know by.
Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry.
So just look at them and sigh and know they love you.
  • There is a town in north Ontario,
With dream comfort memory to spare.
And in my mind I still need a place to go,
    All my changes were there.

Blue, blue windows behind the stars,
    Yellow moon on the rise.
Big birds flying across the sky,
    Throwing shadows on our eyes.

  • I'll light the fire, you place the flowers in the vase that you bought today.
Staring at the fire for hours and hours while I listen to you
Play your love songs all night long for me, only for me.
  • Our house is a very, very fine house.
With two cats in the yard,
Life used to be so hard,
Now everything is easy 'cause of you.
    • Our House.

CSN (1977)[edit]

  • Oh, captain, what are we hiding from?
You've been hiding from the start.
Did some lover steal your heart,
Or did the full moon make you mad?

Oh, captain, why these speechless seas
    That never seem to land?
    Oh I need to understand.
Could a little light be that bad?

  • Just a song before I go, to whom it may concern.
Travelling twice the speed of sound, it's easy to get burned.

Daylight Again (1982)[edit]

  • And there's so much time to make up
    Everywhere you turn.
Time we have wasted on the way.
    So much water moving
    Underneath the bridge.
Let the water come and carry us away.
  • When you see the Southern Cross for the first time,
You understand now why you came this way.
'Cause the truth you might be running from is so small.
But it's as big as the promise, the promise of a coming day.
So I'm sailing for tomorrow, my dreams are a'dying.
And my love is an anchor tied to you, tied with a silver chain.
I have my ship and all her flags are a flying.
She is all that I have left and music is her name.
    • Southern Cross, written by Stephen Stills, Rick Curtis and Michael Curtis.
  • Think about how many times I have fallen. Spirits are using me, larger voices calling.
What heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten.
I have been around the world, looking for that woman-girl who knows love can endure.
And you know it will, and you know it will.
    • Southern Cross.
  • So we cheated and we lied and we tested
And we never failed to fail, it was the easiest thing to do.
    You will survive being bested.
Somebody fine will come along, make me forget about loving you
    At the Southern Cross.
    • Southern Cross.
