English: Walter Cronkite introduced me to Mike Wallace in 1985 at a West Chop cocktail party on the island of Martha's Vineyard. Mike, and his wife, Mary, invited me to visit them at their home. In 1986, Mike wrote an autobiographical article about his life on Martha's Vineyard for "Martha's Vineyard Magazine," of which I was the publisher/editor. Just for fun, and unbeknownst to Mike, I had his good friend, Art Buchwald, write a humorous article about Mike and his game of tennis.
Before the magazine's publication, I shared a copy with Mike and Mary at their home. Mary invited some friends, including Art, to be in attendance as Mike reviewed the copy. Mike sat in his chair smiling and laughing as he read Art Buchwald's article aloud. In fact, Art Buchwald's article had everyone in the room laughing. Shortly after, I interviewed Mike on my TV talk show, "The Vineyard Voice." This photo was taken at the TV interview on Martha's Vineyard. Wallace was in his relaxed "island" attire - with no socks. During the interview, Wallace discusses his love of Martha's Vineyard; is affinity for the game of tennis; his television career; reporting for "60 Minutes;" the poignant death of his son, Peter, and his four marriages.
