[edit] Summary
Ananke group - core members. The diagram shows the irregular retrograde satellites of Jupiter clustering around Ananke, named after the ancient Greek personification of Necessity, (a~21 million km, i~149°). Plotted by a program written by Eurocommuter.
- The position of a satellite (in polar co-ordinates) represents
- its orbit's mean semi-major axis a in Gm
- orbit’s mean inclination i in degrees
- The size of the circle illustrates the satellite's size relative to others (assumed albedo 0.04)
