English: The Newest Narcissus; or, The Hero of our days, a cartoon by Edward Linley Sambourne (1844-1910) from Punch, or the London Charivari, Vol. 102, April 23, 1892, by Various, Edited by F. C. Burnand. The accompanying poem The Newest Narcissus or Hero of Our Day proclaims the "danger to the state" posed by media making a cult of echoing the sensational behavior of individuals who in turn mirror what they see drawing attention in the media. The accompanying satirical verse may be found in the Project Gutenberg eBook listed below.
