Пословицы и поговорки советского народа
Термином "советский народ" была в 1971 г. названа "Новая историческая, социальная и интернациональная общность людей, имеющих единую территорию, экономику, единую по социалистическому содержанию и многообразную по национальным особенностям культуру, федеративное государство и общую цель - построение коммунизма" (ФЭС, 1983, 620; см. также Ким, 1972). Постановлением XXIV съезда Коммунистической партии Советского Союза советский народ возник как эффект прочного социально-политического и идейного единства всех классов и слоев, наций и народностей, заселяющих территорию СССР. Их общим языком - т.е. языком советского народа - был признан русский язык, что являлось выражением "той роли, которую играет русский народ в братской семье народов СССР" (ФЭС, 1983, 620).

- Translation: Guard your honor from your youth, and your weapons once you've got them in hand.
- Remarks: A play on an older saying, 'Guard (keep, take care of) your clothing from when it's new, and your honor from your youth'.
- Была коптилка да свеча - теперь лампа Ильича.
- Transliteration: Byla koptilka da svecha - teper' lampa Il'yicha.
- Translation: There used to be a wick lamp and a candle - now there exists Ilyich's lamp. (In the sense that Vladimir Ilyich Lenin brought electricity to the Soviet countryside.)
- Была Россия царская - стала пролетарская.
- Transliteration: Byla Rossiya tsarskaya - stala proletarskaya.
- Translation: Russia was tsarist - became proletarian.
- Было время - любили гармониста, а теперь время настало - любят тракториста.
- Transliteration: Bylo vremia - liubili garmonista, a teper' vremia nastalo - liubiat traktorista.
- Translation: There was a time they loved an accordionist, and now the time has come where they love a tractor driver.

- Translation: The whole Soviet country is visible from the Kremlin.
- Moral: The government sees all.

- Transliteration: Vragov boyatcya - pogranichnikom ne bit'
- Translation: Afraid of the enemies - don't be a border guard.
- Remark: A play on the older saying, 'Afraid of the wolves - don't go into the woods'.

- Transliteration: Dva kommunista vedut bespartijnyh trista
- Translation: Two communists lead three hundred unaffiliated (lit. party-less).
- Moral: Two communists can provide leadership and motivation to three hundred people who are not members of the Party.

- Transliteration: Den kantovki - god zhizni.
- Translation: A day of slacking (from hard labor in jail) gives you an additional year of life.

- Translation: Don't hope for rain or thunder, hope for an agronomist. (ie. Man and science trumps coincidence.)

- Translation: If you follow god, you won't find anything.

- Translation: It is not planning that makes a factory (beautiful), but results.

- Translation: Don't chat idly on the phone - an unwary talker is a great find for a spy. (ie. "Loose lips sink ships.")

- Translation: To us - in tanks, but back - on sleds. (very probably ref. the defeat of Hitler.)

- Translation: The collective farm is wealthy - the collective farmer is happy.

- Transliteration: Kremlyovskiye zvyozdi vidish - smeleye vperyod idyosh
- Translation: Seeing the Kremlin stars - going forward braver. (ie. To see the Kremlin stars will make you feel braver in your steps.)
