Sir Thomas Johnstone Lipton, Bt, KCVO (1850-05-10 – 1931-10-02) was born in Scotland of Irish parents. He was a self-made man, merchant, and yachtsman, who created the famous Lipton tea brand and was the most persistent challenger in the history of the America's Cup.
