George Kastrioti Skanderbeg or Gjergj Kastrioti, (6 May 1405 – 17 January 1468), better known as Skanderbeg (Albanian: Skënderbeu; Turkish: İskender Bey, "Lord Alexander"), is one of the most prominent figures in the history of Albania. Known as the Dragon of Albania, he is a national hero remembered for his struggle against the Ottoman Empire.
