Some of the lines are real[edit]

Some of the lines are extremely real. Please revert them back! Auldlanggone 11:23, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is no sole inclusion policy if a line really comes from the source. US Copyright Law allows us to quote copyrighted works but only within a quantative limitation. You cannot cite them excessively. In other words, if you cite them excessively, "being real" is no good reason anymore. See also the ongoing discussion to codify this principle on WQ:VP. In my observation this article should be trimmed much further. Thanks. --Aphaia 12:05, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I completely agree. In my opinion, many of the Jailtime Challenge quotes should be cut, as well as the "spiels" and all of the Rockapella crook jingles, in addition to trimming the longer quotes. However, I am not well-versed in the finer points of Wiki editing, so would anyone be willing to teach me? KyrieEleison 08:11, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You seems to know it already [1], but anytime you are welcome to ask questions on WQ:VP. This article is now protected since main contributors are not interested in keeping guideline but if you are volunteering to clean it up, the protection will be lifted up. --Aphaia 09:50, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had forgotten I had done that... lol. I think I can take this on (adding a quote or two is one thing, but a complete overhaul is something else), but I won't be able to do it until next week. I was also thinking: is it possible to make a separate page for the "other stuff"? The entire page as it stands is devoted to all of Carmen Sandiego, but "Where in the World" quotes take up most of the page. KyrieEleison 17:32, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is solely my personal opinion but our general norm seems to suggest us not to divide pages, specially if they are under suspicion of copyvio. --Aphaia 20:38, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. The computer game stuff would end up being a very short page. I can get cracking on it tomorrow, or whenever you can take the protection down. For now, I've already gotten started cutting the page down in Word. KyrieEleison 00:13, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I don't know what the protocol on copyprotecting is, but I'm totally ready to edit this page, so if someone else can take the copyprotect down, I'll get to it. I've already managed to bring the page down to 45kb. Wiki only knows how big it was before. KyrieEleison 01:08, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Individual pages for episodes?[edit]

I tested this page to see how it would look with new pages for each episode we have on here and links to those episodes on this page. It looks very neat to me, but I want to see if anyone else likes the idea. I love putting in and seeing these quotes, but as more episodes are put on this page, the page becomes more unwieldy.

So I just want to see how many like the idea of putting the quotes from each episode in their own pages and just including links to those pages here. I am also open to putting the first few lines of each episode below their respective titles.

This is probably a bad idea. We don't have any other TV series that have individual pages for each episode, and I don't think that we should start. In order to avoid violating copyright, we need to keep pages relatively short, and having a separate page for each episode means that each page would need to be short. However, people love adding to short pages, and it's easy for things to get out of hand. When an episode (or book, in the case of many authors, for comparison) is included in one large page for the work (or, in specific cases, pages per season) then a small section doesn't seem as small because it's surrounded by a number of other (small) sections. —LrdChaos (talk) 13:13, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. I've eliminated a lot of excess quotes from The Canal Caper and revised the remaining quotes. Socal gal at heart

(TV) Cleanup tag[edit]

I've added the {{tv-cleanup}} tag to this page because it needs a lot of work. None of the formatting meets Wikiquote:Templates/TV shows, many of the headers are nested incorrectly (that is, the header for an episode is the same level as the subheader for "Introduction"), many of the quotes are too long (and many rather pointless), and splitting each episode up so much is completely unnecessary. —LrdChaos (talk) 13:13, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed a few quotes in "Diamonds," mostly to fix the spelling of some German words. Let no one say my 7 years of German study were for nothing! :-) I also edited the much-debated "Madre mia" quote. I listened to it 3 times, and since Contessa's rolling the "r" in "Carmen," I'm pretty sure that she's also rolling the "dr" in "madre," making it sound like "mother." Besides, since she's Italian, it doesn't make much sense to me that she'd say half the phrase in English and half in Italian.--KyrieEleison 23:51, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

I've cleaned it up, added cast, external links, formatted correctly. It still needs a little work, but more reducing the number of quotes/items on the page, or splitting it. Soph 00:10, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
