Louis XIV vous parle[edit]

If you want to make serious research about Louis XIV, François Bluche, who is an authority on the matter, published a book called Louis XIV vous parle with about everything Louis XIV certainly or most probably said, with precise sourcing and assessing the credibility of various reports. 83.199.118.126 20:28, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dissapointing[edit]

I read in a history book that this man said "I eat for France" as he feasted while his people were starving of famine, but there are almost now quotes from him on the internet.

"The Pyrenees have ceased to exist"[edit]

This quote is attributed to Louis by Voltaire but in John D. Bergamini, The Spanish Bourbons: The History of a Tenacious Dynasty (1974), p. 30, the remark is attributed to "Marquis of Castel dos Ruis", who was the Spanish ambassador to Louis. In François Bluche, Louis XIV (1990), p. 519, the quote is also attributed to the Spanish ambassador.--Britannicus (talk) 20:28, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
