Response to suggestion to merge[edit]

This is a fair suggestion, but the reasoning behind creating this separate page is one of scale. I am currently looking at integrating over 2,000 Terry Prachett quotes into wikiquotes and the this would make the Terry Pratchett quote file very large. I think keeping it in novel groupings with appropriate linkages across makes it more manageable and less overwhelming.

OK, but in addition to moving the page to The Light Fantastic and ensuring a link from the author's page, these quotes really need to be better sourced (by chapter at least). And you'll want to compare to Discworld to remove redundancies - and if there are enough quotes for each novel, maybe turn that page into a disambig page. ~ UDScott (talk) 19:08, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I switched the tag to {{mergefrom|Discworld}}, which is a huge page. ~ Ningauble (talk) 20:53, 28 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice. I can't do separate chapters because almost all of Terry Pratchett's works don't have chapters. They are in exact order from the novels though, rather than drawn randomly. I do have a problem with moving the page to The Light Fantastic because that has a redirect to the Discworld page. I would appreciate some further advice. I think the Discworld page has quite a good range of quotes, but I would like to probably triple, or more, the number of quotes. They may also be some formatting issues that need resolving. Is it appropriate for me to make a major expansion of the page? I am also not sure where those quotes come in each novel. This was why I thought creating a new page - I know the order of the quotes and am 100% sure of its accuracy. Also it wouldn't lead to having to undertake an overhaul of an existing entry. And finally, the document would be genuinely very large. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
