Talk:Thomas Percy (Bishop of Dromore)

Most of what has been added clearly wasn't written by Percy. Shakespeare could scarcely have quoted something written by someone who lived 200 years later! For the poem I cited, I have a reference that he probably re-wrote it. Is there any such reference for these other poems?--Poetlister 13:52, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

• The Percy quotes that I added are all from his 1919 Bartlett's page. Note that a "Compare" note does not necessarily imply that the other party copied the original author, but merely that the quotes are similar. However, since a number of references in Bartlett's use that language ("quoted by Shakespeare"), I left them as they were worded. This is pretty clearly a case of the "author" being the compiler of the quotes whose origin is otherwise unknown - I am open to any means of handling this, but the quotes carried forth from Bartlett's belong somewhere.
