[edit] Thor

  • I have no plans to die today.
  • [from trailer]
[waking up in the middle of nowhere] Oh, no... this is Earth... isn't it?
  • You're big. Fought bigger.
  • For the first time in my life, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do...
  • [walks into a pet store] I need a horse!
  • [struggling with a group of medical attendants] You are no match for the mighty ... [sentence goes off unfinished as Thor is anesthetized]
  • [to Jane] Your ancestors called it magic, and you call it science. Well, I come from a place where they're one and the same thing.

[edit] Agent Phil Coulson

  • [to Thor] It's not easy to do what you did. You made my men - some of the most highly trained professionals in the world - look like a bunch of minimum-wage mall cops, that's hurtful. In my experience, it takes someone who's received similar training to do what you did to them. Why don't you tell me where you received that training? Pakistan, Afghanistan, Chechnya? No, you strike me more as the soldier of fortune type. Who are you?

[edit] Odin, Allfather of Asgard

  • Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.
  • I have sacrificed much to achieve peace. So too must a new generation sacrifice to maintain that peace. Responsibility! Duty! Honour! These are not mere virtues to which we must aspire! They are essential to every soldier, to every king!
  • Once mankind accepted a simple truth: that they were not alone in this universe. Some worlds man believed home to their gods. Others, they knew to fear. From a realm of cold and darkness came the Frost Giants, threatening to plunge the mortal world into a new ice age. But humanity would not face this threat alone. Our armies drove the Frost Giants back into the heart of their own world. The cost was great. In the end, their king fell, and the source of their power was taken from them. With the last great war ended, we withdrew from the other worlds and returned home to the realm eternal, Asgard. And here we remain as the beacon of hope, shining out across the stars. And though we have fallen into man's myths and legends, it was Asgard and its warriors that brought peace to the universe.

[edit] Darcy

  • [On seeing Thor, who's been hit by their car, lying on the ground] Does he need CPR? I totally know CPR!
  • This is going on Facebook! Smile.
  • [staring at Thor] You know, for a crazy homeless person... he's pretty cut.

[edit] Clint Barton aka Hawkeye

(about Thor)

  • Do you want me to take him down or would you rather send in more guys for him to beat up?
  • You better call it Coulson, 'cause I'm starting to root for this guy.

[edit] Dialogue

[Jane, Darcy, and Erik are insepcting an atmospheric disturbance in a desert in Puente Antiguo, New Mexico]

Jane Foster: Wait for it. [they begin to give up]
Darcy: Can I turn on the radio? [a bit tired and bored]
Jane Foster: No [Jane is a rather anxious]
Dr. Erik Selvig: Jane, you can't keep doing this.
Jane Foster: The last 17 occurences have been predictable to the second.
Dr. Erik Selvig: Jane, you're an astrophysicist, not some storm chaser.
Jane Foster: I'm telling you, there's a connection between these atmospheric disturbances and my research. Erik, I wouldn't have asked you to fly out here if I wasn't absolutely sure.
Darcy: Jane? I think you want to see this.
Jane Foster: What is that? [they observe this very strange atmospheric activity]
Dr. Erik Selvig: I thought you said it was a subtle aurora!
Jane Foster: Go! [Darcy starts the van towards this site] Get closer.
Darcy: Right. Good one.
Jane Foster: Go! [filming this strange sight and witness Thor shooting down to Earth] What are you doing? [Darcy turns the car away from the crash site as it blocks their view]
Darcy: I am not dying for six college credits!

[Jane attempts to turn the car towards it and they lose control of the car and hit Thor as he arrives to Earth]

Darcy: I think that was legally your fault. [she says to Jane as they check if Thor is okay]
Jane Foster: Get the first aid kit. [she orders to Darcy] Do me a favor and don't be dead. Please. [to Thor] Where did he come from?

Odin: Once, mankind accepted a simple truth, that they were not alone in this universe. Some worlds man believed to be home to their Gods. Others, they knew to fear. From a realm of cold and darkness came the Frost Giants, threatening to plunge the mortal world into a new ice age. But humanity would not face this threat alone. Our armies drove the Frost Giants back into the heart of their own world. The cost was great. In the end, their king fell. And the source of their power was taken from them. With the last great war ended, we withdrew from the other worlds and returned home to the Realm Eternal, Asgard. Here we remain as the beacon of hope, shining out across the stars. And though we have fallen into man's myths and legends, it was Asgard and its warriors that brought peace to the universe. But the day will come when one of you will have to defend that peace.
Young Loki: Do the Frost Giants still live?
Young Thor: When I'm king, I'll hunt the monsters down and slay them all! Just as you did, Father.
Odin: A wise king never seeks out war. But he must always be ready for it.
Young Thor: I'm ready father.
Young Loki: So am I.
Odin: Only one of you can ascend to the throne. But both of you were born to be kings.

Odin: Thor Odinson, my heir, my firstborn. So long entrusted with the mighty hammer Mjolnir, forged in the heart of a dying star, its power has no equal, as a weapon to destroy or as a tool to build. 'Tis a fit companion for a king. I have defended Asgard and the lives of the innocent across the Nine Realms from the time of the great beginning. Though the day has come... [as Thor's coroation is occuring, a group of Frost Giants break into Odin's treasure room] Do you swear to guard the Nine Realms?
Thor: I swear.
Odin: And do you swear to preserve the peace?
Thor: I swear.
Odin: Do you swear to cast aside all selfish ambition and to pladge yourself only to the good of the Realms?
Thor: I swear!
Odin: Then, on this day, I, Odin Allfather, proclaim you... [Odin senses Frost Giants attempting to steal the Casket of Ancient Winters} The Frost Giants!

[regarding the group of Frost Giants who attempted to steal the Casket of Ancient Winters]

Thor: The Jotuns must pay for what they've done!
Odin: They have paid, with their lives. The Destroyer did its work, the Casket is safe, and all is well.
Thor: All is well? They broke into the weapons vault! If the Frost Giants had stolen even one of these relics...
Odin: They didn't.
Thor: Well, I want to know why!
Odin: I have a truce with Laufey, King of the Jotuns.
Thor: He just broke your truce! They know you are vulnerable!
Odin: What action would you take?
Thor: March into Jotunheim as you once did. Teach them a lesson. Break their spirits so they'll never dare try to cross our borders again.
Odin: You're thinking only as a warrior.
Thor: This was an act of war!
Odin: It was the act of but a few, doomed to fail.
Thor: Look how far they got!
Odin: We will find the breach in our defenses and it will be sealed.
Thor: As King of Asgard...!
Odin: But you're not king! Not yet.

Thor: It's unwise to be in my company right now, Brother.
[Loki sits next to Thor]
Thor: This was to be my day of triumph.
Loki: It'll come. In time. If it's any consolation, I think you're right. About the Frost Giants, about Laufey, about everything. If they found a way to penetrate Asgard's defenses once, who's to say they won't try again? Next time with an army.
Thor: Exactly.
Loki: There's nothing you can do without defying Father.
[Thor looks at Loki]
Loki: No, no, no. I know that look.
Thor: That's the only way to ensure the safety of our borders!
Loki: Thor, it's madness.
Volstagg: Madness? What sort of madness?
Thor: We're going to Jotunheim.
Fandral: What? This isn't like a journey to Earth where you summon a little lightning and thunder, and the mortals worship you as a god. This is Jotunheim.
Thor: My father faught his way into Jotunheim, defeated their armies and took their Casket. We would just be looking for answers.
Sif: It is forbidden!
Thor: My friends, have you forgotten all that we have done together? Fandral, Hogun. Who led you into the most glorious battles?
Hogun: You did.
Thor: And Volstagg, to delicacies so succulent, you'd thought you'd died and gone to Valhalla?
Volstagg: You did.
Thor: Yes!
Thor: And who proved wrong all who scoffed at the idea that a young maiden could be one of the fiercest warriors this realm has ever known?
Sif: [indignant] I did!
Thor: True, but I supported you, Sif. My friends, we're going to Jotunheim.

[Thor, Loki, Sif, and The Warriors Three are attempting to cross the Bifrost to Jotunheim without Odin's permission]
Loki: You leave this to me. Good Heimdall...
Heimdall: You're not dressed warmly enough.
Loki: I'm sorry?
Heimdall: Do you think that you can decieve me?
Loki: You must be mistaken...
Thor: [losing patience] Enough! Heimdall, may we pass?
Heimdall: Never has an enemy slipped my watch until this day. I wish to know how that happened.
Thor: Then tell no one where we have gone until we've returned. Understand?.
Volstagg: [jokingly says to Loki] What happened? Silver tongue turned to lead?
Heimdall: [just when he opens the Bifrost bridge] Be warned. I will honor my sworn oath to protect this realm as its Gatekeeper. If your return threatens the safety of Asgard, Bifrost will remain closed to you and you'll be left to die in the cold waste of Jotunheim.
Volstagg: Couldn't you just keep the bridge open for us?
Heimdall: To leave the bridge open would unleash the full power of the Bifrost and destroy Jotunheim with you upon it.
Thor: I have no plans to die today.
Heimdall: None do. [He transports them to Jotunheim]

Sif: Where are they?
Thor: Hiding, as cowards always do.
King Laufey: You've come a long way to die, Asgardians.
Thor: I am Thor Odinson!
King Laufey: We know who you are.
Thor: How did your people get into Asgard?
King Laufey: The House of Odin is full of traitors.
Thor: Do not dishonor my father's name with your lies!
King Laufey: Your father is a murderer and a thief! And why have you come here? To make peace? You long for battle. you crave it. You're nothing but a boy trying to prove himself a man.
Thor: Well, this "boy" has grown tired of your mockery.
[Loki has to restrain Thor]
Loki: Thor, stop and think. Look around you, we're outnumbered.
Thor: Know your place, brother.
King Laufey: You know not what your actions would unleash. I do. Go now, while I still allow it.
Loki: We will accept your most gracious offer. Come on, brother.
Frost Giant Sentry: Run back home, little princess.
Loki: Damn. [Thor smashes down the Sentry]
Thor: Next?

[The group is cornered at the edge of a cliff and Odin arrives to Jotunheim]

Thor: Father! We'll finish them together!
Odin: Silence!
King Laufey: [King Laufey approaches Odin] Allfather. You look weary.
Odin: Laufey, end this now.
King Laufey: Your boy sought this out.
Odin: You're right. And these are the actions of a boy, treat them as such. You and I can end this here and now, before there's further bloodshed.
King Laufey: We are beyond diplomacy now, Allfather. He'll get what he came for. War and death.
Odin: So be it.

[Laufey attempts to stab Odin but is thwarted and they are transported back to Asgard]

[Odin brings them back to Asgard from Jotunheim]

Thor: Why did you bring us back?
Odin: Do you realize what you've done? What you've started?
Thor: I was protecting my home.
Odin: You cannot even protect your friends! How can you hope to protect a kingdom? [speaking to Heimdall] Get him to a healing room! Now!
Thor: There won't be a kingdom to protect if you're afraid to act. The Jotuns must learn to fear me, just as they once feared you.
Odin: That's pride and vanity talking, not leadership. You've forgotten everything I tought you about a warrior's patience.
Thor: While you wait and be patient, The Nine Realms laugh at us. The old ways are done. You'd stand giving speaches while Asgard falls.
Odin: You are a vain, greedy, cruel boy!
Thor: And you are an old man and a fool!
Odin: Yes. I was a fool to think you were ready.
Loki: Father...
Odin: [to Loki] NAY! Thor Odinson, you have betrayed the express command of your king. Through your arrogance and stupidity, you have opened these peaceful realms and innocent lives to the horror and desolation of war! You are unworthy of these realms! You're unworthy of your title! You're unworthy of the loved ones you have betrayed. I now take from you your power! In the name of my father and his father before, I, Odin Allfather, cast you out! [He then banishes Thor to Earth] Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor. [Odin also throws Mjolnir to Earth along with Thor]

[the aftermath of his banishment to Earth and being hit by Jane's truck]

Darcy: I think that was legally your fault. [she says to Jane as they check if Thor is okay]
Jane Foster: Get the first aid kit. [she orders to Darcy] Do me a favor and don't be dead. Please. [to Thor] :Darcy: [as Thor gains conciousness] Does he need CPR? Because I totally know CPR.
Jane Foster: Where did he come from?
Thor: [Thor waking up on Earth after being banished] Hammer? Hammer?
Darcy: Yeah, we can tell you're hammered. It's pretty obvious.
Jane Foster: Oh, my god. Erik, look at this! [notices the peculiar entrails in the ground] We have to move quickly before this all changes.
Dr. Erik Selvig: Jane, we have to take him to the hospital.
Thor: Father!
Darcy: He's fine, look at him.
Thor: Heimdall! I know you can hear me! Open the Bifrost!
Jane Foster: Hospital. You go, I'll stay. [believing him to be either crazy or delusional]
Thor: You. What realm is this? Alfheim? Nornheim?
Darcy: [frightened, pulls out a taser] New Mexico?
Thor: You dare threaten me, Thor, with so puny a weapon?

[Darcy tases him]

Darcy: What? He was freaking me out!

[they try to understand the events of the night before]

Dr. Erik Selvig: You don't think this was just a magnetic storm, do you?
Jane Foster: Look, the lensing around these edges is characteristic of an Einstein-Rosen Bridge.
Darcy: A what?
Dr. Erik Selvig: I thought you were a science major?
Darcy: Political science.
Jane Foster: She was the only applicant.
Dr. Erik Selvig: An Einstein-Rosen Bridge is a theoretical connection between two different points of space-time.
Jane Foster: It's a wormhole. Erik, look. What do you see?
Dr. Erik Selvig: Stars.
Jane Foster: Yeah, but not our stars. See, this is the star alignment for our quadrant this time of year, and unless Ursa Minor decided to take a day off, these are someone else's constellations.
Darcy: Hey! Check this out. [notices that in the images of the strange atmospheric event, a man is seen shooting coming out from the cloud]
Dr. Erik Selvig: No, it can't be.
Jane Foster: I think I left something at the hospital.

[as they get into their van from the hospital]

Jane Foster: I just lost my most important piece of evidence. Typical.
Darcy: So now what?
Jane Foster: We find him.
Dr. Erik Selvig: Did you see what he did in there? I'm not sure finding him is the best idea.
Jane Foster: Well, our data can't tell us what it was like to be inside that event, and we can. So, we're gonna find him.
Darcy: Okay.
Dr. Erik Selvig: So we're gonna look all over New Mexico, right?
Jane Foster: Exactly. [as she backs up her car she hits Thor again] What?

[she gets out of the car helps him up]

Jane Foster: I'm so sorry. I swear I'm not doing this on purpose.

[aftermath of Thor's banishment]

Volstagg: We should never have let him go.
Sif: There was no stopping him.
Hogun: Well, at least he's only banished, not dead.
Fandral: Which is what we'd all be if that guard hadn't told Odin where we'd gone.
Volstagg: How did the guard even know?
Loki: I told him.
Fandral: What?
Loki: I told him to go to Odin after we'd left. He should be flogged for taking so long. We should never have reached Jotunheim.
Volstagg: [Volstagg is digruntled by this] You told the guard?
Loki: I saved our lives. And Thor's. I had no idea Father would banish him for what he did.
Sif: Loki. You must go to the Allfather and convince him to change his mind.
Loki: And if I do, then what? I love Thor more dearly than any of you, but you know what he is. He's arrogant. He's reckless. He's dangerous. You saw how he was today. Is that what Asgard needs from its king?
Sif: He may speak of the good of Asgard, but he's always been jealous of Thor.
Volstagg: We should be grateful to him, he saved our lives.
Hogun: Laufey said there were traitors in the House of Odin. A master of magic could bring three Jotuns into Asgard.
Fandral: Loki's always been one for mischief, but you're talking about something else entirely.

[Loki picks up the Casket of Ancient Winters]

Odin: Stop!
Loki: Am I cursed?
Odin: No.
Loki: What am I?
Odin: You're my son.
Loki: [Loki turns around to reveal his blue skin and resistance to Casket and finally realizes that he is, in fact, an adopted Frost Giant] What more than that? The Casket wasn't the only thing you took from Jotunheim that day, was it?
Odin: No. In the aftermath of the battle, I went into the Temple and I found a baby. Small for a giant's offspring. Abandoned, suffering, left to die. Laufey's son.
Loki: Laufey's son.
Odin: Yes.
Loki: Why? You were knee-deep in Jotun blood, why would you take me?
Odin: You were an innocent child.
Loki: No. You took me for a purpose. What was it? Tell me!
Odin: I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day. Bring about an alliance, bring about permanent peace. Through you.
Loki: What?
Odin: But those plans no longer matter.
Loki: So I am no more than another stolen relic, locked up here until you might have use of me.
Odin: Why do you twist my words?
Loki: You could have told me what I was from the beginning, why didn't you?
Odin: You're my son. I wanted only to protect you from the truth.
Loki: Because I'm the monster parents tell their children about at night?
Odin: No. no. [Odin begins to collapse]
Loki: You know, it all makes sense now! Why you favored Thor all these years! Because no matter how much you claim to love me, you could never have a Frost Giant sitting on the throne of Asgard! [Odin falls into the Odinsleep] Guards! Guards, please, help!

[The group is at a local diner for breakfast]

Jane Faster: How'd you get inside that cloud?
Darcy: Also, how could you eat an entire box of Pop-Tarts and still be this hungry? [they are all baffled by his appetite]
Thor: [taking coffee for the first time] This drink, I like it.
Darcy: I know. It's great, right?
Thor: Another! [throws the mug on the floor and shatters it startling the group]
Jane Foster: [to the diner's owner] Sorry, Izzy. Little accident. [to Thor] What was that?
Thor: It was delicious. I want another.
Jane Foster: Well, you could have just said so.
Thor: I just did.
Jane Foster: No, I mean, ask nicely.
Thor: I meant no disrespect.
Jane Foster: All right. Well no more smashing. Deal?
Thor: You have my word.
Jane Foster: Good.

[Jane chases after him while he is walking through the street]

Jane Foster: Where are you going?
Thor: Fifty miles west of here.
Jane Foster: Why?
Thor: To get what belongs to me.
Jane Foster: So you own a satellite now?
Thor: It's not what they say it is.
Jane Foster: Well, whatever it is, the government seems to think it's theirs. So, you just intend to go in there and take it?
Thor: Yes. If you take me there now, I'll tell you everything you wish to know.
Jane Foster: Everything?
Thor: Yes. All the answers you seek will be yours once I caim Mjolnir. [Darcy and Erik approach]
Darcy: Myeu-muh? What's Myeu-muh?
Dr. Erik Selvig: Can I have a word, Jane? Please don't do this.
Jane Foster: You saw what I saw last night. This is no coincidence. We have to find out what's in that crater.
Dr. Erik Selvig: But I'm not talking about the crater, I'm talking about him.
Jane Foster: But he's promsing us the answers.
Dr. Erik Selvig: He's delusional, listen to what he's saying. He's talking about Mjolnir and Thor and Bifrost. It's the stories I grew up with as a child.
Jane Foster: I'm just going to drive him. That's it.
Dr. Erik Selvig: He's dangerous, Jane.
Jane Foster: [goes to Thor] I'm sorry, but I can't take you.
Thor: Then this is where we say goodbye. [kisses Jane's hand]
Jane Foster: Thank you?
Thor: Jane Foster, Erik Selvig, Darcy farewell. [Thor bows]
Dr. Erik Selvig: All right. Back to work. [they all leave]

[as Jane, Darcy, and Erik are walking along the street they notice a truck carrying her equipment]

Jane Foster: That's my stuff!

[they arrive back and notice many S.H.I.E.L.D. agents taking her equipment]

Jane Foster: What the hell is going on here?
Agent Phil Coulson: Ms. Foster, I'm Agent Coulson with S.H.I.E.L.D.
Jane Foster: Is that supposed to mean something to me? You can't do this!
Dr. Erik Selvig: Jane! [Erik realizing the seriousness of the situation] Jane, this is a lot more serious than you realize. Let it go.
Jane Foster: Let it go? This is my life.
Agent Phil Coulson: We're investigating a security threat. We need to appropriate your records and all your atmospheric data.
Jane Foster: By approppriate, do you mean steal?
Agent Phil Coulson: Here, this should more than compensate you for your trouble [hands her a check]
Jane Foster: I can't just buy replacements at Radio Shack, I made most of this equipment myself!
Agent Phil Coulson: Then I'm sure you can do it again.
Jane Foster: And I'm sure I can sue you for violating my constitutional rights!
Agent Phil Coulson: I'm sorry, Ms. Foster, but we're the good guys.
Jane Foster: So are we! I'm on the verge of understanding something extraordinary. And everything I know about this phenomenon is either in this lab or in this book. [pulls out book] And you can't just take this away [an agent takes it from her] Hey! [she attempts to take it back]
Dr. Erik Selvig: [Erik attempts to hold her back] Jane! Easy! Easy. Jane...
Agent Phil Coulson: Thank you for your cooperation [he then drives away in a truck with all her equipment]

[They all sit on the roof rather depressed]

Jane Foster: Years of research, gone.
Darcy: They even took my iPod.
Dr. Erik Selvig: What about our backups?
Jane Foster: They took our backups. They took the backups of our backups. They were extremely thorough.
Darcy: I just downloaded, like, 30 songs onto there.
Jane Foster: Could you please stop with your iPod? Who are these people?
Dr. Erik Selvig: I knew this scientist. A pioneer in gamma radiation. S.H.I.E.L.D. showed up and he wasn't heard from again.
Jane Foster: They're not gonna do that to us. I'm gonna get everything back.
Dr. Erik Selvig: Come on, please. Let me contact one of my colleagues. He's had some dealings with these people before. I'll e-mail him and maybe he can help.
Darcy: They took your laptop, too.

Sif: Allfather, we must speak with you urgently. [However they are shocked to see Loki on the throne]
Loki: My friends.
Fandral: Where's Odin?
Loki: Father has fallen into the Odinsleep. Mother fears he may never awake again.
Sif: We would speak with her.
Loki: She has refused to leave my father's bedside. You can bring your urgent matter to me. Your King. [they all reluctantly bow down to Loki]
Sif: My King, we would ask that you end Thor's banishment.
Loki: My first command cannot be to undo the Allfather's last. We're on the brink of war with Jotunheim. Our people need a sense of continuity, in order to feel safe in these difficult times. All of us must stand together for the good of Asgard. [Sif gets up to attack but the Warriors Three hold her back]
Fandral: Yes, of course.
Loki: Good. Then you will wait for my word.
Volstagg: If I may beg the indulgence of Your Majesty to perhaps reconsider...
Loki: We're done!

[Thor walks into a pet store]

Thor: I need a horse!
Owner: [rather perplexed by this request] We don't have horses. Just dogs, cats, birds...
Thor: Then give me one of those large enough to ride.
Jane Foster: [she pulls up outside with her van] Hey, you still need a lift?

[They are in the van on the way to the crash site]

Jane Foster: I've never done anything like this before. Have you ever done anything like this before?
Thor: Many times. But you're brave to do it.
Jane Foster: Well, they just stole my entire life's work. I don't really have much left to lose.
Thor: Yeah, but you're clever. Far more clever than anyone else in this realm.
Jane Foster: "Realm"? "Realm"?
Thor: You think me strange?
Jane Foster: Yeah, I do.
Thor: Good strange or bad strange?
Jane Foster: I'm not quite sure yet. [almost drives off the side of the road and they both laugh] I'm sorry. But who are you? Really?
Thor: You'll see soon enough.
Jane Foster: You promised me answers.
Thor: What you seek, it's a bridge.
Jane Foster: Like an Einstein-Rosen Bridge?
Thor: More like a rainbow bridge.
Jane Foster: God, I hope you're not crazy.

[Loki and Frigga sit at Odin's bedside while he is in the Odinsleep]

Loki: I never get used to seeing him like this.
Frigga: He's put it off for so long now, that I fear...
Loki: How long will it last?
Frigga: I don't know. This time it's different. We were unprepared.
Loki: So why did he lie?
Frigga: He kept the truth from you so that you would never feel different. You are our son, Loki, and we, your family. We musn't lose hope that your father will return to us. And your brother.
Loki: What hope is there for Thor?
Frigga: There's always a purpose to everything your father does.

[Jane and Thor arrive at the crash site where S.H.I.E.L.D. has set up a facility]

Jane Foster: That's no satellite crash! They would have hauled the wreckage away, they wouldn't have built a city around it.
Thor: You're going to need this [he gives here his coat]
Jane Foster: What? Wait, why? [they hear lightning]
Thor: Now stay here. Once I have Mjolnir, I will return the items they've stolen from you. Deal?
Jane Foster: No. Look what's down there. You think you're just gonna walk in, grab our stuff and walk out?
Thor: No. I'm going to fly out.

[Jane goes back and tries to persuade them that Thor is right]

Dr. Erik Selvig: He commited a crime. He's in jail!
Jane Foster: I can't just leave him there!
Dr. Erik Selvig: Why?
Jane Foster: You didn't see what I saw!
Darcy: [looking in the Norse mythology book Erik had] Look! Look, it's Myeu-muh.
Jane Foster: [to Erik] Where'd you find this?
Jane Foster: But you're the one who's always pushing me to chase down every possibilty, every alternative!
Dr. Erik Selvig: I'm talking about science, not magic!
Jane Foster: Well, magic's just science that we don't understand yet. Arthur C. Clark.
Dr. Erik Selvig: Who wrote science fiction.
Jane Foster: A precursor to scientific fact!
Dr. Erik Selvig: In some cases, yeah.
Jane Foster: Well, if there is an Einstein-Rosen Bridge, then there's something on the other side. And advanced beings could have crossed it!
Dr. Erik Selvig: Jane. [believing this to be preposterous]
Darcy: A primitive culture like the Vikings may have worshipped them as deities.
Jane Foster: Yes! Yes, exactly. Thank you.

[Thor is now in custody of S.H.I.E.L.D.]

Agent Phil Coulson: You made my men, some of the most highly trained professionals in the world, look like a bunch of minimum-wage mall cops. That's hurtful. In my experience, it takes someone who's recieved similar training to do what you did to them. Why don't you tell me where you recieved your training? Pakistan? Chechnya? Afghanistan? No, you strike me more as the soldier of fortune type. Where was it? South Africa? Certain groups pay very well for a good mercenary like you. Who are you? One way or another, we find out what we need to know. We're good at that. [recieves a call and leaves] Don't go anywhere.

[as the door closes, Loki appears]

Thor: Loki! What are you doing here?
Loki: I had to see you.
Thor: What's happened. Tell me. Is it Jotunheim? Let me explain to Father.
Loki: Father is dead.
Thor: What?
Loki: Your banishment, the threat of a new war, it was too much for him to bear. You mustn't blame yourself. I know that you loved him. I tried to tell him so, but he wouldn't listen. It was so cruel to put the hammer within your reach, knowing that you could never lift it. The burden of the throne has fallen to me now.
Thor: Can I come home?
Loki: The truce with Jotunheim is conditional upon your exile.
Thor: Yes, but couldn't we find a way...
Loki: And Mother had forbidden your return. This is goodbye, Brother. I'm so sorry.
Thor: No. I am sorry. Thank you for coming here.
Loki: Farewell. [at this he turns around, grins, and disappears and Agent Coulson walks in]
Thor: Goodbye.
Agent Phil Coulson: Goodbye? I just got back.

[Erik arrives at the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility]

Agent Phil Coulson: His name is Donald Blake?
Dr. Erik Selvig: Dr. Donald Blake.
Agent Phil Coulson: You have dangerous coworkers, Dr. Slevig.
Dr. Erik Selvig: He was distraught when he found out that you've taken all our research. That was years of his life, gone! You can understand how a man could go off like that. A big, faceless organization like yours coming in with their jackbooted thugs and... That's how he put it.
Agent Phil Coulson: That still doesn't explain how he managed to tear through our security.
Dr. Erik Selvig: Steroids! He's a bit of a fitness nut.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent: Sir? [shows computer and on it is the false identity of Donald Blake]
Agent Phil Coulson: It says here that he's an M.D.
Dr. Erik Selvig: Well, he is! Or he was. He switched careers and became a physicist. A brilliant physicist. He's a wonderful man. He's a man in pain. [Coulson lets Erik go get "Donny"] Donny, Donny, Donny! There you are. You're gonna be alright now. I'm taking you home now.

[as they are leaving Thor manages to sneek out Jane's book]

Agent Phil Coulson: [he calls out to them] Dr. Slevig! Just keep him away from the bars.
Dr. Erik Selvig: I will!
Thor: Where are we going?
Dr. Erik Selvig: To get a drink.
Agent Phil Coulson: [to his men] Follow them.

[Erik and Thor are at a bar]

Thor: You know, I had it all backwards. I had it all wrong.
Dr. Erik Selvig: It's not a bad thing finding out that you don't have all the answers. You start asking the right questions.
Thor: For the first time in my life, I have no idea what I'm supposed to do.
Dr. Erik Selvig: Anyone who's ever going to find his way in this world has to start by admitting that doesn't know where the hell he is.
Thor: Thank you for what you've done.
Dr. Erik Selvig: No, don't thank me. I only did it for Jane. Her father and I taught at university together. He was a good man. He never listened.
Thor: Neither did I. My father was trying to teach me something, but I was too stupid to see it.
Dr. Erik Selvig: I don't know if you're delusional or if you're pulling some kind of con, I don't care. I just care about her. I've seen the way she looks at you.
Thor: I swear to you, I mean her no harm.
Dr. Erik Selvig: Good. In that case, I'll buy you another round, and you leave town tonight. [Thor nods to this] Two boilermakers. [orders to bartender]

[Erik is greatly surprised by Thor's drinking prowess]

[Loki goes to Jotunheim to meet with King Laufey]

King Laufey: Kill him.
Loki: After all I've done for you?
King Laufey: So you're the one who showed us the way into Asgard.
Loki: That was just a bit of fun, really. To ruin my brother's big day. And to protect the realm from his idiotic rule for a while longer.
King Laufey: I will hear you.
Loki: I will conceal you and a handful of your soldiers, lead you into Odin's chambers, and you can slay him where he lies.
King Laufey: Why not kill him yourself?
Loki: I suspect that the Asgardians would not take kindly to a king who had murdered his predecessor. Once Odin is dead, I will return the Casket to you and you can return Jotunheim to all its...glory.
King Laufey: I...accept.

[Loki returns to Asgard]

Loki: What troubles you, Gatekeeper?
Heimdall: I turned my gaze upon you in Jotunheim, but could neither see you nor hear you. You were shrouded from me, like the Frost Giants that entered this realm.
Loki: Perhaps your senses have weakened after your many years of service.
Heimdall: Or perhaps someone has found a way to hide that which he does not wish me to see.
Loki: You have great power, Heimdall. Did Odin ever fear you?
Heimdall: No.
Loki: And why is that?
Heimdall: Because he is my king and I am sworn to obey him.
Loki: He was your king and you're sworn to obey me now. Yes?
Heimdall: [reluctantly] Yes.
Loki: Then you will open the Bifrost to no one until I have repaired the damage that my brother has done.

[Thor and Jane are on the roof sitting next to a fire]

Jane Foster: I come up here sometimes when I can't sleep or when I'm trying to reconcile particle data, or when Darcy's driving me crazy. I come up here a lot, actually, now that I think about it. I'm really glad you're safe.
Thor: You've been very kind to me, and I've been far less grateful than you deserve.
Jane Foster: Well, I hit you with my car a couple times, so I think that kind of evens things out [they both giggle at this]
Thor: Perhaps I had it coming. [he takes her notebook out of his coat pocket and gives it to her]
Jane Foster: Oh, my god! I don't believe it!
Thor: It was all I could get back. I'm sorry it's not as much as I promised.
Jane Foster: No, no, this is great! This is... I don't have to start from scratch now. Thank you. [Jane goes a little silent]
Thor: What's wrong?
Jane Foster: S.H.I.E.L.D. Whatever they are, they're gonna do everything in their power to make sure this research never sees the light of day.
Thor: No, Jane. Listen to me. You must not give up. You must finish what you've started.
Jane Foster: Why?
Thor: Because you're right. Here, look. [opens her notebook] Your ancestors called it magic, and you call it science. Well, I come from a place where they're one and the same thing. [Thor is connecting the circles in her notebook]
Jane Foster: What is that?
Thor: My father explained it to me like this, that your world is one of the Nine Realms of the Cosmos, linked to each other by the branches of Yggdrasil, the World Tree. Now you see it everyday without realizing. The images glimpsed through... What did you call it? This Hooble Telescope.
Jane Foster: Hubble.
Thor: Hubble Telescope. [they both giggle at this]
Jane Foster: Tell me more.
Thor: So, the Nine Realms. Now, there is Midgard, which is Earth. This is Alfheim. Vanaheim. Jotunheim. And Asgard. And that's where I come from.

Fandral: Our dearest friend banished, Loki on the throne, Asgard on the brink of war, yet you've managed to consume four wild boar, six pheasant, a side of beef, and two casks of ale. Shame on you. Don't you care?
Volstagg: Do not mistake my appetite for apathy!
Sif: Stop it, Both of you! Stop. [Sif and Hogun hold Fandral and Volstagg back from fighting each other] We all know what we have to do.
Hogun: We must go. We must find Thor.
Fandral: It's treason.
Volstagg: To hell with treason, it's suicide.
Sif: Thor would do the same for us.
Volstagg: Now shush. Heimdall might be watching. [A messenger walks in immediately]
Messenger: Heimdall demands your prescence.
Volstagg: We're doomed.

[Sif and the Warriors Three go to meet Heimdall]

Heimdall: You would defy the commands of Loki, our king, break every oath you have taken as warriors, and commit treason to bring Thor back?
Sif: Yes.
Heimdall: Good.
Sif: So you'll help us?
Heimdall: I am bound by honor to our king. I cannot open the bridge to you. [Heimdall leaves the Bifrost chamber]
Fandral: Complicated fellow, isn't he?

[Loki releases the Destroyer and gives it orders]

Loki: Ensure my brother does not return. Destroy everything.

Agent Garrett: [regarding the newly arrived Sif and Warriors Three] Base, we've got Xena, Jackie Chan, and Robin Hood.

[they are having breakfast]

Dr. Erik Selvig: It's a beautiful theory, Jane. But you won't be able to convince the scientific community of any of it. Not without hard evidence.
Volstagg: Found you! [Lady Sif and the Warriors Three are knocking at the door to Thor's great delight and Erik's, Jane's, and Darcy's shock]
Thor: My friends! [They all greet Thor] This is good! This is good.
Dr. Erik Selvig: I don't believe it. [Erik is still very shocked]
Volstagg: Excuse me. Lady Sif and the Warriors Three. [introduces them to the others]
Thor: My friends, I have never been happier to see anyone. But you should not have come.
Fandral: We're here to take you home.
Thor: You know I can't go home. My father is dead because of me. And I must remain in exile.
Sif: Thor, your father still lives. [Thor is shocked to hear this]

[Loki confronts Heimdall]

Heimdall: Tell me, Loki, how did you get the Jotuns into Asgard?
Loki: You think the Bifrost is the only way in and out of this realm? There are secret paths between the worlds to which even you, with all your gifts, are blind. But I have need of them no longer, now that I am king. And I say, for your act of treason, you are relieved of your duties as Gatekeeper, and no longer a citizen of Asgard.
Heimdall: Then I need no longer to obey you. [He attempts to strike Loki down but Loki freezes him using the power of the Casket]

[The group sees from afar that someone else has arrived]

Darcy: Was somebody else coming?

[S.H.I.E.L.D. arrived to the Bifrost sight and see the Destroyer]

Agent Jasper Sitwell: [staring at the Destroyer] Is that one of Stark's?
Agent Phil Coulson: I don't know. The guy never tells me anything. [takes a megaphone and talks to Destroyer] Hello. You are using unregistered weapons technology. Identify yourself. [says to other agents] Here we go. [the Destroyer attacks] Incoming!

[Sif is injured by the Destroyer]

Thor: Sif. Sif, you've done all you can.
Sif: No. I will die a warrior's death. Stories will be told of this day.
Thor: Live, and tell those stories yourself. Now go.

[The Warriors Three are injured as well by the Destroyer]

Thor: You must return to Asgard. You have to stop Loki.
Fandral: What about you?
Thor: Do not worry, my friends. I have a plan.
Fandral: Come on. We need to fall back. Come on. [to the others]
Sif: Come on.
Jane Foster: Wait! What's he doing?

[Thor goes to approach the Destroyer]

Thor: Brother, whatever I have done to wrong you, whatever I have done to lead you to do this, I am truly sorry. But these people are innocent. Taking their lives will gain you nothing. So take mine and end this. [The Destroyer deactivates for a moment but then lashes at Thor, throwing him back and severely injuring him]
Jane: No. [Jane runs for Thor]
Thor: It's over.
Jane Foster: No. It's not over.
Thor: I mean, you're safe.
Jane Foster: We're safe.
Thor: It's over. [Thor dies]
Jane: No. No. [Begins to cry and the Destroyer walks away]

[Mjolnir comes flying back to him, having proved himself worthy of it, thus Mjolnir brings Thor back to life and restores his powers]

[After Thor destroys the Destroyer]

Jane Foster: So, is this how you normally look?
Thor: More or less.
Jane Foster: It's a good look.
Thor: [speaking to Sif and the Warriors Three] We must go to the Bifrost site. I would have words with my brother.
Agent Phil Coulson: Excuse me! Donald? I don't think you've been completely honest with me.
Thor: Know this, son of Coul. You and I, we fight for the same cause, the protection of this world. From this day forward, you can count me as your ally, if you return the items you have taken from Jane.
Jane Foster: Stolen.
Agent Phil Coulson: Borrowed. Of course, you can have your equipment back. You're gonna need it to continue your research.
Thor: [speaking to Jane] Would you like to see the bridge we spoke of?
Jane Foster: Sure.
Agent Phil Coulson: Wait, I need to debrief you! [Thor flies away with Jane to the Bifrost site before he can continue]

[Thor arrives at the Bifrost site]

Thor: Heimdall, open the Bifrost. Heimdall? Heimdall! He doesn't answer.
Hogun: Then we are stranded.
Thor: Heimdall! If you can hear me, we need you now. Heimdall! We need you now!

[In Asgard Heimdall breaks free from the ice and activates the Bifrost]

Thor: Heimdall! [as the Bifrost opens Thor says goodbye to Jane] I must go back to Asgard, but I give you my word, I will return for you. [ He kisses her hand] Deal? [at this Jane kisses Thor]
Jane Foster: Deal.

[they enter the Bifrost and return to Asgard]

Thor: Get him to the healing room! [he orders them to help Heimdall] Leave my brother to me.

[Laufey stands over Odin as he is in the Odinsleep]

King Laufey: It's said you can still hear and see what transpires around you. I hope it's true, so that you may know your death came at the hand of Laufey. [before he is able to kill Odin, Loki shoots him away with Gugnir]
Loki: And your death came by the son of Odin. [he then blasts Laufey into oblivion, killing him]
Frigga: Loki! You saved him! [as she stands up she embraces him]
Loki: I swear to you, Mother, that they will pay for what they've done today.
Thor: Loki. [Thor barges in much to Loki's surprise]
Frigga: Thor! I knew you'd return to us. [she embraces him too]
Thor: Why don't you tell her how you sent the Destroyer to kill our friends, to kill me?
Frigga: What? [startled by this]
Loki: Why, it must have been enforcing Father's last command.
Thor: You're a talented liar, Brother. Always have been.
Loki: It's good to have you back. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to destroy Jotunheim. [Loki blasts Thor out of the building with Gugnir]

[Thor arrives at the Bifrost where Loki has already started the process of destroying Jotunheim]

Loki: You can't stop it. The Bifrost will build until it rips Jotunheim apart.
Thor: Why have you done this?
Loki: To prove to Father that I am the worthy son. When he wakes, I will have saved his life. I will have destroyed that race of monsters. And I will be the true heir to the throne!
Thor: You can't kill an entire race!
Loki: Why not? And what is this newfound love for the Frost Giants? You could have killed them all with your bare hands?
Thor: I've changed.
Loki: So have I. Now fight me. [he hits Thor with Gugnir] I never wanted the throne! I only ever wanted to be your equal.
Thor: I will not fight you brother!
Loki: I'm not your brother. I never was.
Thor: Loki, this is madness.
Loki: Is it madness? Is it? Is it? Come on. What happened to you on Earth that turned you so soft? Don't tell me it was that woman. It was! Well, maybe, when we're finished here, I'll pay her a visit myself! [at this they both charge at each other]

[Thor overtakes Loki and places Mjolnir on his chest knowing he won't be able to get up and contemplates how to stop the destruction of Jotunheim]

Loki: Look at you, the Mighty Thor, with all your strength, and what good does it do you know? [can't get up under the weight of Mjolnir] Do you hear me, Brother? There's nothing you can do!

[at this Thor summons Mjolnir and begins to smash the Bifrost Bridge and Odin awakes]

Loki: What are you doing? [Thor continues to destroy the Bridge] If you destroy the Bridge, you'll never see her again! [he continues to smash it]

[Loki get up and tries to prevent him from destroying the Bridge]

Thor: Forgive me, Jane.

[Loki tries to stab him with Gugnir but he manages to destroy the Bifrost Bridge and saves Jotunehim and the ensuing explosion sends them both flying in the air only to be caught by Odin before they fall over the Bridge]

Loki: I could have done it, Father! I could have done it! For you! For all of us!
Odin: No, Loki.
Thor: Loki, no! [Loki lets go and falls into the vastness of space] No!
Odin: No.

[From Earth, the strange atmospheric anomoly dissappears]

Jane Foster: It's gone.

[During the celebration Thor walks by still a bit depressed and Sif goes to the Queen to offer her condolensces]

Sif: My Queen, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Frigga: How is he?
Sif: He mourns for his brother. And...he misses her. The mortal.

[Thor goes to approach his father]

Odin: You'll be a wise king.
Thor: There will never be a wiser king than you. Or a better father. I have much to learn. I know that now. Someday, perhaps, I shall make you proud.
Odin: You've already made me proud.

[Thor then goes to approach Heimdall who still remains Gatekeeper even with the Bifrost destroyed]

Thor: So Earth is lost to us...
Heimdall: No. There is always hope.
Thor: Can you see her?
Heimdall: Yes.
Thor: How is she?
Heimdall: She searches for you.

[post-credits] [Dr. Selvig wanders around an underground base]

Nick Fury: [greeting him] Dr. Selvig.
Dr. Erik Selvig: So, you're the man behind all this? It's quite a labyrinth. I was thinking that you had taken me down here to kill me.
Nick Fury: I've been hearing about the New Mexico situation. Your work has impressed a lot of people who are much smarter than I am.
Dr. Erik Selvig: I had a lot to work with: the Foster theory, a gateway to another dimension... it's unprecedented...

[Fury doesn't respond]

Dr. Erik Selvig: ...isn't it?
Nick Fury: Legend tells us one thing; history, another. But, every now and then, we find something that belongs to both.

[Fury opens a suitcase, which contains a small cube]

Dr. Erik Selvig: What is it?
Nick Fury: Power, Doctor. If we figure out how to tap it, maybe unlimited power.

[Loki, who has survived, is seen in a reflection, smiling]

Loki: [whispers to Selvig] Well, I guess that's worth a look.
Dr. Erik Selvig: Well, I guess that's worth a look.
