Regarding the radical edit (June 12 2008) and proposed deletion to the Barney & Friends TV show quote page:

I am writing to you about my concerns about this page being deleted. I have also posted my concerns to the "votes" page of this site.

My son absolutely loves this page, as it was presented prior to June 10 2008. Since that date, the page administrator appears to have taken upon him/herself to perform a radical edit, dramatically reducing its content and deleting the episode-by-episode information.

The comments supporting this proposed deletion have claimed that the quotes are "not remotely memorable", or "obsessive", or "not worthwhile", or "a tsunami of mediocrity".

I have examines other quote pages for other tv shows on wiki, and fail to see how the B&F page (prior to june 10) was different than other well-loved pages such as Chip 'n Dale, A-team, Star Trek, or even Wheel of Fortune.

My 11 year old son loves this page. There were huge tears and distress when he read this morning that it will be deleted. And it may seem boring or trivial to others, it is extremely important to him and kids like him that love an adore Barney. I see that there are many other tv shows supported on the wiki site that are equally if not more "loved" and "obsessed" upon!

Barney is a kids show and it appears that its value is being measured -- and dismissed -- by adults. My son is developmentally disabled (with severe autism) and may stay a big fan of Barney for life. Why can't he continue to enjoy the equality of wikiquote to the same measure as fans of other more socially acceptable shows listed on the site?

It seems to me that many adults "love to hate" barney. One user on the vote page agonized that he needed to be hypnotized to remove the awful memories of it. Well, some people feel that way about star trek and the x-files too, but those pages are allowed to thrive because their fan bases are able to speak up and articulate their devotion to the site and keep them going.

My son, and other young children or developmentally delayed persons, cannot so easily speak up. But if they could, they would. Do not disparage their passionate attachment to Barney, any more than any other TV program on this site. Do not devalue the interests of others because they are not the same as the majority.

Wikiquote is about sharing memorable and important quotes. Please do not make value judgments and dismiss pages like Barney so easily. I would love to see this page reinstated so that my son, and others with parallel interests, can continue to enjoy wikipedia with equality to others who hold different TV show interests. Is wikipedia only for the non-disabled population who hold mainstream interests?

I hope that the page can be restored so that its loyal fan base can continue to enjoy -- with full equality -- all that wikiquote offers.
