Parmenides

I confess I actually like the Pythagoras page, overall — but it could always use more quotes and better sourcing. Thanks for the creating the Anaxagoras page and posting it among the new pages — I have long been dissatisfied with the lack of the ancient philosophers here, but been too busy to attend to creating many of them myself. I certainly hope you stick around, and would love to have some idea of any current plans for a few more pages. Thanks again. ~ Kalki (talk · contributions) 00:23, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

What I mean is that a lot of the Pythagoras "quotes" come from books with titles like "Bible of Reason (1831) by Benjamin F. Powell" and "The World's Laconics : Or, The Best Thoughts of the Best Authors (1853) by Everard Berkeley". There is not the slightest reason to suppose these quotes are remotely accurate or credible. Of course, there are probably no reliable Pythagoras quotes at all, since the ancient sources about him date from centuries after his time. But at the very least, a page of Pythagoras "quotes" should be derived from Diogenes Laertius, Iamblichus, Porphyry, and the other ancient writers who mention him. Simply quoting the "Vegetarian Times, No. 168 (August 1991), p. 4" just seems bizarre to me. Singinglemon 11:53, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
