Welcome[edit]

Hi Trugre. Welcome to English Wikiquote.

Enjoy! ~ Jeff Q (talk) 21:28, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template[edit]

It's very good that you're using the template, but the usual way to create an article is to copy and paste the template, rather than to edit the template article itself. That makes it unavailable to other editors. I've created Nacho Libre as a separate article based on your edit to the template - feel free to expand it. Nacho Libre[edit]

I'm afraid I had to revert your changes to Wikiquote:Templates/Films because you accidentally overwrote that important Wikiquote policy page and boilerplate text with your article for the film Nacho Libre. The correct way to create an article from this boilerplate text is go to Help:Starting a new page, jump or scroll down to "Using input box", enter the film title in the box marked "Movies", and press "Add new film". This will start a page with the correct title and fill it with the text from "Templates/Films". (You can also create an article just by entering the title in the "Search" box in the left margin and, when it says there is no such article, click on the "create this page" link, but this will start with a blank page.)

Since you've already taken the trouble to start an article, I would recommend the following steps to allow you to get credit for creating this article:

  1. Edit your earlier version of the film templates page.
  2. Copy the entire page into a text editor on your computer.
  3. Cancel the edit. (You do not want to save this old version!)
  4. Click on the Nacho Libre link in the first paragraph of this post.
  5. Paste the copied text into the new, blank page.
  6. Click on "Save page" to create your article correctly.

Let me know if you have any questions about this process, or about Wikiquote in general. Thank you for your cooperation and your participation. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 21:45, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry if the preceding is confusing. I didn't notice that, while I was composing the above text, Fys created the article based on your work. (As you might see from the above, it is much easier to fix a problem than explain to a new editor how they can fix it.) Fys gave you creation credit in the edit summary, too. Please make any future edits on this subject to the article, not Wikiquote:Templates/Films. Thank you for your understanding. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 00:11, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help and explanation, today. I am still not sure how I went wrong, but I understand the difference between what I did and what I was supposed to do. Will the original thing I created be deleted? Do I have to delete it or can you? Thanks again for the help, this is my first wiki editing experience. Trugre Jeff-O
Your "original thing" is already history. (Literally, in fact — it can only be seen in the edit history of Wikiquote:Templates/Films.) Be sure to take a look at the "Welcome" message above for more information on wiki editing. For example, signing and timestamping your talk-page posts is much easier if you simply end your post with four tildes, as described above, which the wiki edit window converts to your linked username and a date and time when you "save page". Let me know if you have any questions. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 05:21, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
