English: Wound treatment. The wound of a young prince is treated with grits (small metal cuttings) from his own lance - likely in the belief to avoid infection
Deutsch: 36. Unbekannter Meister: „Wundbehandlung mit der Lanze" Zweite Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts (Semmelweis-Museum für Medizingeschichte, Budapest). Das Zeitalter der Entdeckungen und das Bekanntwerden mit den überseeischen Gebieten hat den niederländischen Malern eine exotische Welt eröffnet. In einer orientalischen Gegend, obwohl die Möbel europäisch sind, werden dem jungen Königssohn Feilspäne von der eigenen Lanzenspitze in die Wunde gestreut. Auch aus anderen Quellen ist die Anwendung der Fellspäne, des „Rostpulvers", bekannt.
