Cloud Strife[edit]

  • (to Zack) I said I'd live out both our lives, easy to make that promise....
  • (to Tifa) I'm not fit to help anyone. Not my family. Not my friends. Nobody.
  • (to Aerith) I think... I wanna be forgiven...More than anything.
  • (to Rufus) Too bad; I'm a delivery boy now.
  • Not interested.
  • (to Aerith) But... I let you die...
  • (to Vincent) Are sins ever forgiven...?
  • (to Tifa) I feel lighter. Maybe I lost some weight. From all that dilly-dallying.
  • (to Zack) That's right...I am your living legacy. (Complete version)
  • (to Sephiroth) I pity you. You just don't get it at all. There's not a thing I don't cherish!
  • (to Sephiroth) Stay where you belong: in my memories...
  • (to Aerith) I know; I'm not alone. Not anymore...

Barret Wallace[edit]

  • Wuddup, fool, it's Barret! I am the man! Oil, Cloud! I just found the biggest damned oil field you ever seen! Surveyin's done, so I should be able to get out there and see Marlene soon. You let her know, alright, Spiky?!
  • Marlene better be safe, huh?
  • Yo Cid, park this turkey!
  • The hell you been?!

Tifa Lockhart[edit]

  • Dilly dally, shilly shally. (English)
    • to Cloud
  • Zuru zuru zuru zuru. (Japanese onomatopoeia for dragging)
    • to Cloud
  • He just wants to fight alone. (Japanese)
    • To Marlene when she asks Tifa about Cloud at the church
  • No, I don't think that he will. (English)
    • To Marlene when she asks Tifa about Cloud at the church
  • It's okay to die. That's what you're thinking, right? (Japanese)
    • To Cloud
  • You're going to give up and die, is that it?...So it is. (English)
    • to Cloud
  • Don't run away! I understand. Even if you find the children, you may not be able to do anything. Maybe something will happen that can never be undone. That's what you're afraid of, right? But you need to accept what's going on right now! Is it hard? Well, of course it's going to be hard. Unless you're planning to live the rest of your life like this, you'll just have to deal with it. You don't like being alone, do you? You don't answer the phone, but you won't throw it away either, do you? (Japanese)
    • To Cloud
  • Stop running! I know... Even if you find the kids, you might not be able to help them. Maybe something could happen that can never unhappen. That scares you, doesn't it? But you need to think about now. Really take it in! Look at you: you think you've got it so damn hard. Well, you hate being alone, so let people in! Sure, you may not answer the phone, but I don't see you throwing it away, either! (English)
    • To Cloud
  • Tell me, have we lost to a memory? (Japanese)
    • To Cloud
  • Which is it? A memory, or us? (English)
    • To Cloud
  • Yeah, but... That hasn't stopped Denzel, has it? Don't run! Let's fight it together! We can help each other, I know we can! (English)
    • To Cloud after she finds out he has given up
  • Those strong feelings we had two years ago during the final battle... It seems as if they have dulled somewhat two years down the road. But now it seems as if they've been resurrected in Cloud.
    • To the others in the Shera airship
  • Two years ago... think of the strength we all had when we fought that last battle. It's been only a couple years, but already that feeling is gone. But Cloud... I think he's found it again. (English)
    • To the others in the Shera airship
  • You were there for him all along, weren't you? Thank you.
    • to Aerith, after Sephiroth's defeat
  • Somehow, I knew you were there. Thank you.
    • English version of above
  • No giving up!
    • When giving Cloud a boost so he can fight Bahamut SIN
  • Cloud is Cloud.
    • Aboard the Shera to Yuffie

Aerith Gainsborough[edit]

  • I never blamed you, not once. You came for me. That's all that matters.
    • to Cloud
  • You came... Even though you're about to break. That's a good sign. So... Why did you come?
    • to Cloud (English)
  • Again? Why does everyone keep calling me their mother lately?
  • You're all right now, aren't you?
    • to Cloud
  • See? Everything's alright. (English)
    • to Cloud

Kadaj[edit]

  • Please sir... Is that your excuse for going after mother, you don't seem all that sorry. --talking to Rufus (Advent Children Complete)
  • So what if I'm a puppet? Once upon a time... you were too! (English)
  • My reunion... Bet you're dying to watch...
    • to Cloud, after he absorbs Jenova's cells
  • I wonder which one Mother will choose... Sephiroth or me?
  • Mother has given me a very special gift. The power to fight... against a planet that torments humanity. She gave this gift to all her children. That's right. You and I are brethren. Brothers and sisters chosen when we inherited Mother's memetic legacy through the Lifestream! But.. the planet doesn't approve of that at all! It's doing everything it can to hold us back. That's why it's racking our bodies with pain and filling our hearts with doubt! Now, I shall heal you. And we will go to Mother together. We will join as a family, and strike back at the planet! ...Do as I do.
    • To children
  • See this man? He's our big brother. But alas, in our happy flock, he's what you'd call a black sheep.
    • To children, about Cloud
  • I don't want to talk to you anymore, put the President on.
  • It's unbearable, to think that Mother might want Sephiroth more than...
    • To Rufus Shinra
  • It doesn't matter who she picks, you'll all meet the same end! Mother came to this planet after a long journey... To rid the cosmos of fools like you.
  • Look at what brother was hiding; powers forged in the Lifestream. With this materia, those powers will be ours.
    • To Loz
  • No, it's that Shinra guy! Keeping her hidden is something they've always been very good at..
    • To Loz (Advent Children Complete)
  • But first, we need a word with Brother. He likes to pretend he's not part of the family. How he breaks...my heart. Yeah!
    • To Loz (Advent Children Complete)

Sephiroth[edit]

  • Good to see you, Cloud. (English version)
  • It's been a while, Cloud.
    • (Japanese version, same as above)
  • I've thought of a wonderful present for you... Shall I give you despair?
  • Kneel down and show me the sight of you begging for mercy. (Japanese version)
  • I will...never be a memory...
  • Is this the pain you felt before...Cloud? Let me remind you. This time, you won't forget.
    • to Cloud, after stabbing him with the Masamune (Advent Children Complete)
  • Tell me what you cherish most. Give me the pleasure of taking it away.
  • The last thoughts of the Geostigma's dead. Those remnants will join the Lifestream and girdle the planet. Choking it... corroding it. What I want, Cloud, is to sail the darkness of the cosmos with this planet as my vessel, just as my mother did long ago. Then one day we'll find a new planet. And on its soil, we'll create a shining future.
  • Your Geostigma is gone. That's too bad.
  • Well, that's up to you, Cloud.
  • Ohh...where did you find this strength?
  • On your knees; I want you to beg for forgiveness!
  • Don't pretend you're sad, why tremble with anger that's not even there? (Advent Children Complete)
  • I will... never... be a memory.
  • Face it Cloud, all you are is an empty puppet. (Advent Children Complete)

Others[edit]

  • Rufus Shinra: Poor little remnant.
  • Rufus Shinra: A good son would have known.
  • Rufus Shinra: The nightmare returns... the Lifestream courses through our planet back and forth across the borders of life and death. If that cycle is the very truth of life, then history, too, will inevitably repeat itself. So go on; bring your Jenova's and your Sephiroth's. It won't matter. We'll do as life dictates and stop you every single time.
  • Rufus Shinra: The Nightmare returns... The Lifestream courses through our world; everflowing between the edge of life and death. If that cycle is the very truth of life, then history, too, will inevitably repeat itself. Go on; bring your Jenovas and your Sephiroths, cause trouble till your hearts content, we will do as life mandates. We promise, we won't let you win, we'll stop you. (Advent Children Complete)
  • Yazoo: Don't cry, Loz.
  • Yazoo: All we want is to be with Mother.
  • Yazoo: We'll go... together...
  • Yazoo: Hey, Kadaj, is that where Big Brother lives?
  • Yazoo: I will not have you refer to Mother that way!
  • Loz: Wanna play?
  • Loz: No... she's not here... I'm not crying!
  • Loz: Don't cry, Yazoo
  • Loz: Together...we'll play...
  • Loz: You meanie!
  • Reno: Yeah, Rude, lookin' sharp!
  • Reno: Mother, shmother. It's Jenova's friggin' head!
  • Reno: Your ma's cool - what the hell am I saying!?
  • Reno: The time of my life!!
    • After Yazoo asks him if he is having any fun.
  • Reno: Forget your little Reunion and get a grip!
    • When fighting Yazoo
  • Marlene: Forget it, Cloud! Why don't you ever pay any attention to us?!
    • to Cloud
  • Marlene: (narrating) The Lifestream. That's what we call the river of life that circles our Planet, giving life to the world and everything in it. The Shinra Electric power company discovered a way to use the Lifestream as an energy source. Because of Shinra's energy, we were able to live very comfortable lives. But wasn't that because we were taking away from the Planet's life? A lot of people thought so. Shinra used their power to try and stop anybody who got in their way. Shinra had a special group of warriors called SOLDIER. All of the SOLDIERs had Jenova cells put inside them. Jenova was a calamity that fell from the sky a long, long time ago and tried to destroy the planet. Anyway, there was one SOLDIER named Sephiroth, who was better than the rest. But when he found out about the terrible experiments that made him, he began to hate Shinra. And then, over time, he began to hate everything, Shinra and the people against them. Sephiroth, who hated the planet so much, he wanted to make it go away, and the people who tried to stop him. There were a lot of battles. And for every battle, there was more sadness. Someone I love went back to the Lifestream too. And then, it came; the chosen day. In the end, the Planet itself had to make the battles stop for good. The Planet used the Lifestream as a weapon, and when it burst out of the earth, all the fighting, all the greed and sadness, everything, was washed away. "Sadness was the price to see it end". It's been two years since they told me that. But it looks like the Planet is a lot madder than we thought. They call it geostigma. Please. Please don't take Denzel away...
  • Denzel: Son of a bitch!
    • [While charging Bahamut]
  • Opening narration: To those who loved this world...and knew friendly company therin... This Reunion is for you.
  • Vincent Valentine: Where can I buy a phone?
    • [Just prior to the battle with Bahamut SIN]
  • Vincent Valentine: If they wanted to, they could recreate Sephiroth.
  • Vincent Valentine: Cloud, you sure this is about fighting?
  • Vincent Valentine: Heaven's Dark Harbinger. The Calamity. Jenova...
    • [When talking about Jenova with Cloud]
  • Vincent Valentine: Fly!
    • [When giving Cloud a boost so he can fight Bahamut SIN]
  • Zack: We're friends, right?
  • Zack: Cloud, run!
  • Zack: Pops, park us over by the rocks! Cloud, ride's over! (Advent Children Complete)
  • Zack: So what if it looks hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace your dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honor as SOLDIER! Well, okay, you never made SOLDIER, but it's what's in here that counts. (Pounds chest) Well, you need a hand with him? You already beat him once, didn't you? This should be a cinch! Cloud. You know what I told you?
  • Zack: Tough luck, friend, looks like you don't have a place here.
  • Moogle Girl: It's like she said. "Wait here and Cloud will come back".

Dialogue[edit]

Yazoo: Hey, Kadaj, is this where Big Brother lives?
Kadaj: Yeah...
Yazoo: You think he'll be happy to see us?
Kadaj: Not a chance.
Loz: Don't cry, Yazoo.
Yazoo: But Mother's with him.
Kadaj: Maybe not...
Loz: (starts to cry)
Yazoo: Don't cry, Loz.
Kadaj: Hold on. He's coming....

Rufus: Cloud, you're an ex-SOLDIER, aren't you?
Cloud: Hmph...In my head...[opens door; pauses] What's this stuff about "Mother"?
Rufus: Why? Did Kadaj mention something? I'm not surprised.
Cloud: Rufus, if you're hiding something...
Rufus: I'd never keep a secret, not from a comrade. You must want to learn all you can about the stigma. Naturally for the sake of those orphans you live with. Surely you long to see the smiles return to their faces. All we want in the end, is to rebuild our world, Cloud...
Cloud: ... But I....
Reno: C'mon, Cloud! Think about it, together we could rebuild Shin-Ra!
Cloud: Not interested...
[Door begins to close, locking out Reno again]
Rude, Rufus: Reno!

Aerith: You came...even though you're about to break... That's a good sign. So...why did you come?
Cloud: I think...I wanna be forgiven...More than anything...
Aerith: By who...?

Cloud Strife: Are sins ever forgiven?
Vincent Valentine: I don't know...I've never tried.
Cloud Strife: You mean ... never tried.
Cloud Strife: [to Marlene] Marlene, let's go.
Cloud Strife: [to Vincent] Well I'm going to try.
[he begins to walk away...after a slight pause]
Cloud Strife: I'll phone in the verdict.

Cloud: But...I let you die.
Aerith: [sighs] Dilly dally, shilly shally! Isn't it time you did the forgiving?

[The Turks confront Bahamut Sin]
Reno: Hello...
Rude: ...Hell-no.
[They both flee]

[After grabbing the kids and running from Bahamut]

Reno: Is it after us?!
Rude: I'm not lookin'!

Yuffie: Alright, who's been touching my materia?
Tifa: The bad guys, naturally.
Yuffie: Ohhhhhhhh! [Attacks Bahamut SIN]

Reno: Mother, shmother. It's Jenova's friggin' head!
Loz: Hey!
Yazoo: I will not have you refer to Mother that way!
Loz: You meanie!
Rude: Our apologies.
Reno: Your ma's cool.... what the hell am I saying?!
[Reno and Rude get in good clean hits on both Yazoo and Loz]

Kadaj: This is too fun, sir! Any requests for the next act?
[Rufus pulls away his blanket to reveal the case with Jenova's remains]
Kadaj: Mother!
Rufus: A good son would have known.

Reno: Hey, partner, this thing got any bite to it?
[points at bomb in hand]
Rude: Shin-Ra technology at its finest.
Reno: Oh, so you made this?
Rude: If nothing else it's ... flashy.
Reno: [smiles] Oh good...
Rude: You love it, I know.
Reno: Looks like today we're clocking out early.

Kadaj: Brother! I'm with her at last.
Cloud Strife: So what's gonna happen now?
Kadaj: [giggles] Mother's going to tell me.
Cloud Strife: I guess a Remnant wouldn't really know.
[Kadaj glares at Cloud menacingly]
Kadaj: So what if I'm a puppet?
[Kadaj powers up the materia in his arm]
Kadaj: Once upon a time...you were too!
[attacks Cloud]

Yuffie: Cloud! I brought you materia! [airship rocks] Whoa! Hey, watch it!
Barret: Yo, Cid, park this turkey!
Cid: Shaddup! You want off, then jump! Get off my back!
Vincent: He can handle this alone.
Yuffie: Huh?!
Vincent: Kadaj is a Remnant of Sephiroth. Think of him as a sort of larval form.
Yuffie: LARVA?! You mean he's an insect?!
Cait Sith: Lassie, shut your gob!
Cid: So the punk's gonna become Sephiroth?
Tifa: Vincent, does Cloud know about Kadaj?
Vincent: One would think.
Tifa: Then you're right, it's his fight now.
Yuffie: Why?! I don't get it! Why can't we help out?!
Cid: This is man talk.
Yuffie: Sexist! SEXIST!!
Cait Sith: Crikey, lass! Shut yer mooth!
Barret: The men don't get it either.
Tifa: Two years ago ... think of the strength we all had when we fought that last battle. It's only been a couple years, but already that feeling is gone. But Cloud, I think he's found it again.
Barret: Pssh. He's got ten minutes.
Yuffie: That Cloud is a royal pain in the ass, like always.
Tifa: [Smiles] Cloud is Cloud.

Sephiroth: Good to see you, Cloud. [throws Cloud to the top of a building and follows him] Your geostigma is gone? That's too bad.
Cloud Strife: Sephiroth, what do you want?
Sephiroth: The last thoughts of Geostigma's dead. Those Remnants will join the Lifestream and girdle the planet -- choking it; corroding it. What I want, Cloud, is to sail the darkness of the cosmos with this Planet as my vessel -- just as my mother did long ago. [summons dark magic to turn the sky darker] Then one day we'll find a new planet, and on its soil we'll create a shining future.
Cloud Strife: What about this planet?
Sephiroth: Well, that's up to you, Cloud.

[fight begins]

Sephiroth: [amused] Oh. Where did you find this strength?
Cloud Strife: I'm not about to tell you!

[Sephiroth stabs his sword into Cloud's right shoulder]

Sephiroth: Is this the pain you felt before, Cloud? Let me remind you. And this time, you won't forget.
Sephiroth: Tell me what you cherish most.

[Cloud grips Sephiroth's sword]

Sephiroth: Give me the pleasure of taking it away?

[Cloud, remembering his loved ones, pulls Sephiroth's sword out of his arm]

Cloud: I pity you. You just don't get it at all. There's not a thing I don't cherish! [attacks Sephiroth to finish the battle]

Cloud: Stay where you belong... in my memories.
Sephiroth: I will... never be a memory. [changes back into Kadaj]

Cloud Strife: [drifting in and out of consciousness; Aerith's hand caresses his forehead] Mother...?
Aerith Gainsborough: Again? Why is everyone calling me their mother lately?
Zack Fair: I guess they must be fond of you.
Aerith Gainsborough: This one's a little too big to adopt.
Zack Fair: [to Cloud] Tough luck, friend. Looks like you don't have a place here.

Complete BD Edition[edit]

Zack: So what if it looks hopeless? If it were me, I still wouldn't give up. Embrace you dreams. And, whatever happens, protect your honor as SOLDIER! ...Well, okay, you never made SOLDIER. But it's what's in here that counts.
Cloud: Zack?
Zack: Well? You need a hand with him?
(Cloud shakes his head and forces himself back up on his feet, sword in hand)
Zack: You already beat him once, didn't you? This should be a cinch!
Cloud: Yeah...
Zack: Cloud. You know what I told you.
Cloud: That's right.. I am your living legacy.

[Outside Midgar, flowers are growing on the ground, where Zack died]

Denzel: Is this somebody's grave?
Cloud: No. This is where a hero began his journey.

About Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children[edit]

  • We learned from The Spirits Within and made sure not to repeat history, so we went with the opposite direction of Square Pictures. What they didn't do we decided to do for Advent Children. If we were to try to sell Advent Children now it might not work because it is a different time with everything within the company. I think that's part of the reason why Advent Children was successful.
