Amlan Datta

Amlan Datta (1924 – 2010) was a prominent Indian Bengali economist and educator. He served as the Vice-Chancellor of North Bengal University and Visva-Bharati University.

- On September 10, 2005, I went to a hotel on Harrison Road, Kulidjibara, Kolkata, carrying four manuscripts. Two days later, I went to meet Amlan Dutta at his home in CB110, Salt Lake City. I had never seen him in person before; I had only seen his picture on a book cover. It was a picture from his youth: a stocky body in a white collared shirt, thick glasses, and thick, neatly styled black hair.
