Interviews
[edit]- Alvise Sapori, La mia vita in musical, La Repubblica, quoted in musical.it, 15 February 2004
- There is no such thing as Roman popular music.* [...] Perhaps it's because Rome was part of the Papal States for so long, and the people were only allowed to sing litanies – otherwise, perhaps, some popes would have had their heads cut off!
- I don't know how to write a stand-alone song; for me, a song is part of a bigger picture, part of a musical comedy, in short.
- Before he was a truly great actor, Marcello was a wonderful man. As an actor, he had that rare ability to understand a role, so he would get to the heart of it with apparent ease but with perfect impact.
- You're either born with jazz or you're not. You can't learn it, and you can't teach it; it's a language of its own. Bear in mind that, behind the door, there is always Johann Sebastian Bach. Above all, jazz is freedom.
Quotes about
[edit]- Professionally, he was outstanding, but working with him in the booth, where he would really listen to you, wasn't easy at all.
- Johnny Dorelli, quoted in È morto Armando Trovajoli, Corriere.it, 2 March 2013.
