Intro
[edit][The text reading Sony Computer Entertainment (America for US & Canada; Europe for PAL regions and Inc for Japan) Presents fades in, after a few seconds it fades out and the 1994 Universal Interactive Studios logo fades with the copyright disclaimer underneath, after a few seconds, it fades out to a letterboxed dark blue-gold-green gradient background with clouds, a doghouse slides in from the left and "brakes" in a manner like a car, wobbling like gelatin as it comes to a halt. The text Naughty Dog flips in letter-by-letter, the red puppy pawprint flies in like a butterfly and lands in-between the two words, the face of the grinning dog then appears, barking sounds are heard, after a few seconds, the complete logo fades out to N. Sanity Beach as Crash Bandicoot runs towards the screen and panics as the text (Crash Bandicoot) appears, Crash Bandicoot himself, then looks to the left and right of the screen, he does this all throughout the title screen, as all this is going on, the selections of Start, Load Game, Password and Options are present]
Dialogue
[edit][Castle Cortex is shown, shrouded in twilight.]
- Dr. Nitrus Brio: But Dr Cortex! We have not determined the cause of past failures!"
[Dr. Nitrus Brio laughs giddily. The camera pans down inside a room in the castle, showing a large machine pointed at a table with a bandicoot strapped to it. Brio and Cortex stand either side of the table.]
- Dr. Cortex: Moron! This bandicoot will be my general, and he will lead my "Cortex Commandos" to world domination! This time, I shall reign triumphant!
[The machine then fires a beam at Crash, making him cry out in pain. The camera shows stack of cages all marked with different species of animal. Dr. Nitrus Brio is shown pulling a lever to raise Crash, who is now seated on a chair, into the Cortex Vortex.]
- Dr. Cortex: We are closer than ever before! Quickly! Into the Vortex!
- Dr. Nitrus Brio: But Dr. Cortex, the Vortex is not ready! We have no idea what it could do. (laughs)
[Crash is raised into the Cortex Vortex. A loud mechanical droning is heard, a bright lights go off. A screen at the Vortex's control panel shows that Crash, labelled "BANDICOOT 1.0", has been rejected.]
- Dr. Cortex (pissed): Failure again...! Capture him!
[Dr. Neo Cortex then chases Crash across the screen. Crash runs and smashes through a window.]
- Crash: Uh-Oh
[Crash plummets into the ocean below. Tawna is shown, being held against a wall by Lab Assistants. She lifts her head, looking horrified.]
- Dr. Cortex: Prepare the female bandicoot!
[Crash washes up on N. Sanity Beach, face down. He shakes his head as he climbs to his feet, grimacing, then scratches his head as he looks around, confused. He makes a thumbs-up at the camera, grinning confidently, then spins to turn around as gameplay begins.]
[If Crash fails to destroy all the boxes, he will duck as the crates destroy themselves all around him, the text reading GREAT, but you missed (required number) boxes is shown]
[If Crash forgets any gem, it will be the similar animation, but the text will instead say, GREAT, but you missed the gem]
[Upon destroying all the boxes in the level, the gem will be shown, Crash will do a spin attack and get into a ta-da pose, the text appears saying PERFECT]
[If Crash dies at any given time, there will be an unique death animation (this would be prominent throughout the whole franchise)]
- Crash: WOAH! (this would be prominent throughout the franchise until at least 2004)
[Upon defeating any boss, Crash will raise his fist triumphantly]
- Crash: YEEE-HAW!!!!
[Dr. Neo Cortex is on his hoverboard, he notices Crash]
- Dr. Cortex (pissed): Darn you, Crash Bandicoot!
[Crash defeats Dr. Neo Cortex, his hoverboard stops working and explodes, Dr. Neo Cortex falls off his hoverboard screaming, Crash raises his fist triumphantly, Tawna is then shown hugging Crash on the Cortex Vortex, the Cortex Vortex then flies into the sunset as the credits start to roll]
[If Crash reaches 100%, he will make his way to The Great Hall and jump on all of the gems, he eventually reaches the balcony where Tawna is waiting for him on the bird, when Crash get onboard the bird, they fly away, the epilogue (which shows what all characters do after the events of the game) is then shown]
[Papu Papu's says: "PAPU SOLD THE RUINS OF CASTLE CORTEX TO A RESORT DEVELOPER. - HE THEN USED THE PROCEEDS TO OPEN A BIG AND TALL SHOP ON THE ISLAND."]
[Ripper Roo's says: "AFTER INTENSE THERAPY AND EIGHT YEARS OF HIGHER EDUCATION, DR. ROO WENT ON TO WRITE THE WELL RECEIVED BOOK - THROUGH THE EYE OF THE VORTEX: A STUDY OF RAPID EVOLUTION AND ITS CONSEQUENCES"]
[Koala Kong's says: "KOALA KONG MOVED TO HOLLYWOOD AND LANDED A MOTION PICTURE DEAL OF UNIVERSAL PROPORTIONS. - CURRENTLY HE IS WORKING WITH A SPEECH THERAPIST TO IMPROVE HIS DICTION."]
[Pinstripe's says: "PINSTRIPE MOVED TO CHICAGO, WHERE HE NOW OWNS AND OPERATES A CITY WIDE SANITATION COMPANY. - HE IS SAVING MONEY FOR HIS UPCOMING GUBERNATORIAL CAMPAIGN."]
[Brio's says: "AFTER THE DISAPPEARENCE OF HIS MENTOR, DR. NITRUS BRIO REDISCOVERED HIS FIRST LOVE: - TENDING BAR"]
[Cortex's says: "THE WORLD HAS HEARD NOTHING OF CORTEX SINCE CRASH FOILED HIS PLANS... - BUT EVIL GENIUSES ARE HARDER TO SQUASH THAN COCKROACHES."]
[Crash & Tawna are then shown on the bird flying in the night sky as the credits start to roll]
Game Over
[edit][If Crash loses all his lives, the temple-esque background cuts in as the words GAME OVER appear in a similar manner to the title screen text, after a while, the words pop for a few seconds as Crash is seen running from the left to the right side of the screen with Cortex chasing him. Whilst all this is going on, the continue choice of Yes or No is present]
[If the player selects Yes, Crash returns to the any given save point with only 4 lives]
[If the player selects No, the title screen then returns]
