As the sections stay perpendicular to the neutral fiber, the upper fibers (z > 0) are compressed and the lower fibers (z < 0) are extended. Français : Élément d'une poutre fléchie : la fibre neutre est un arc de cercle (rayon ρ, angle dθ).
