Summary

Description Humanity and Justice (Winchester War Memorial) by sculptor Herbert Adams (1858-1945), 71 Mt. Vernon Street, Winchester, Massachusetts, USA. According to the Art Inventories Catalog, Smithsonian American Art Museums: "Two robed allegorical female figures, representing Humanity and Justice, stand side by side in front of an American flag. Between them, they jointly hold a wreath, each figure grasping the wreath with one hand, arms entwined with one another. One figure holds a laurel branch in her proper right hand and the other figure holds a sheathed sword in her proper left hand. The sculpture rests atop a rectangular stone base that rests on two steps." This monument was created in 1926 as recorded on the statue base; it is in the public domain because the work was first published without copyright notice prior to 1978.
