English: Buddhist monk Thich Quang Duc burning himself to death in Saigon in protest of persecution of Buddhists by the South Vietnam government. This photograph won the World Press Photo of the Year for 1963. John F. Kennedy said that "No news picture in history has generated so much emotion around the world as that one."
