Gregoria de Jesús

Gregoria Alvarez de Jesús (May 9, 1875 – March 15, 1943), served as secretary of the women's section and custodian of the documents and seal of the Katipunan, a secret revolutionary society founded on July 7, 1892, by Andrés Bonifacio and other Filipino nationalists to struggle for Philippine independence from Spain. She married Bonifacio, the Supremo of the Katipunan and President of the early revolutionary government of the Philippine Tagalog region. She took a major role in the revolution as the government's first lady. After the death of Bonifacio, she married Julio Nakpil, a general of the Katipunan.
