From Wikiquote

Moira Deeming is an Australian politician. She is a former member of the parliamentary Victorian division of the Liberal Party and is now an Independent Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Council, representing the Western Metropolitan Region since November 2022. On 27 March 2023, she was suspended from the parliamentary Liberal Party for nine months. A week earlier, it had been announced by the leader of the opposition, John Pesutto, that he would move to have her expelled from the parliamentary Liberal Party after she spoke at a "Let Women Speak" rally outside the Victorian Parliament which was gate-crashed by a neo-Nazi group. She was expelled from the parliamentary party room on 12 May 2023. Deeming issued defamation suits against Pesutto for comments he made about her.[1]

Quotes

[edit]
  • When I was alerted to the fact that there were all these masked men coming towards us ... I thought the trans activists had broken through the (police) line and we were about to be attacked. [...] The police, for some reason I do not understand, ushered them in, let them have photos on the steps next to us and instead of pushing them back out the same way they came in, they took them right through the middle of the buffer zone.
And right as they were in the centre in front of all those cameras they did a Nazi salute and that’s horrifying.
