Salma Kikwete

Salma Kikwete (born 30 November 1963) is the former first lady of United Republic of Tanzania. She served as first lady when her husband Jakaya Kikwete took office as president of Tanzania in 2005 until 2015. During her tenure as the first lady, she was the Vice President of the Organisation of African First Ladies Against AIDS (OAFLA). She is a former teacher and made history as the only first lady to become a member of parliament since independence in 1961.
