Sarah Elizabeth McBride (born 9 August 1990) is an American politician, who is currently serving as the federal representative for Delaware's at-large congressional district. Being a member of the Democratic Party, she also served as a state senator for the 1st district in the Delaware Senate from January 2021 until January 2025. She is also known for being the first openly transgender member that was elected as a U.S. state senator; and as the first openly transgender member elected to the United States Congress.
