Is there any citation to Mitt Romney's claimed Walter Reuther quote in _Let Detroit Go Bankrupt?_ http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/19/opinion/19romney.html

He says 'This division is a holdover from the early years of the last century, when unions brought workers job security and better wages and benefits. But as Walter Reuther, the former head of the United Automobile Workers, said to my father, “Getting more and more pay for less and less work is a dead-end street.”'

I have seen no other verification of this citation, and it smells wrong to me---I do not think Reuther would have said anything like this, but despite a lot of looking, have found no refutation of this claim either. Did Romney simply remember the incident in reverse?---his father had said that to Reuther?
