Talk to Me is a 2022 Australian supernatural horror film about a group of friends who discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand, becoming hooked on the new thrill, until one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.

Directed by Danny and Michael Philippou. Written by Danny Philippou and Bill Hinzman.
If you talk to them, they will answer.

Jade: You going to bed?
Sue: You sneaking out?
Jade: Why do you always think I'm sneaking out or sleeping around?
Sue: Because you only ask if I'm going to bed when you're sneaking out? Is it to see Daniel?
Jade: You know, even if it was, he's ultra-Christian. He doesn't do anything ever.
Sue: He's still got a dick, Jade. Is it him you’re sneaking out to see?
Jade: I’m not sneaking out!
Sue: OK. God. Night. [pause] Lock the door on your way out.
Hayley: Alright, somebody time it. As soon as she lets it in, it cannot go for more than 90 seconds. Am I clear?
Mia: What happens after 90 seconds?
Hayley: They'll want to stay. And if you die while they’re in you, well, they’ll have you forever.
Mia: Did the hand thing scare you?
Riley: A bit.
Mia: You going to have nightmares, Riley?
Riley: I don't get nightmares.
Mia: I do.
Riley: Like what?
Mia: I have this recurring nightmare… where… I’m looking in the mirror and my reflection is gone. Like I don’t exist.
Riley: What did the hand feel like?
Mia: Mmm… It felt amazing. I felt like I was glowing. I could hear and see and feel everything. But I was in the passenger seat. It felt incredible.
Riley: How did your mum die?
Mia: You know.
Riley: Only bits.
Mia: She… took too many sleeping pills. By accident. Dad was sleeping on the couch. In the morning, he couldn’t open the door.
Riley: Mm. Why?
Mia: Mum was on the other side. And there were scratches on the door and wood under her nails. She tried to get help, but she couldn’t.
Riley: Jade said you got depression after.
Mia: I was just feeling alone.
Riley: No, you can’t ever be alone ’cause you’ll always have me and Jade.
Mia: Yeah. It’s OK, I don’t feel alone anymore.
Mia: [about Riley, at the hospital] Tell me he’s OK.
Jade: No offence, I don’t want you here right now.
Mia: Wait, Jade. Come on.
Sue: Mia.
Mia: Sue, I…
Jade: Don’t!
Sue: What are you doing here?
Mia: I just… I just came to see how he was.
Sue: He’s bad, Mia. He’s really fucking bad. Did you give him something?
Mia: No.
Sue: Come on. I know you’ve done shit before. What was it?
Mia: Nothing, I swear.
Sue: Look at his face. What did my son ever do to you?
Mia: I… I didn’t hurt him.
Sue: Go home. Now.
Mia: No, please, can I just see him?
Sue: You come back here, I’m gonna call the police.
Hayley: Who showed the police the video?
Daniel: Think it was James.
Hayley: Least it proves we didn’t touch him. Police said there’s not a lot they can do.
Daniel: Has it ever lasted this long?
Joss: No. But we’ve never been over 90 seconds before Mia, so… How is he?
Jade: Every time he comes to, he tries to kill himself.
Joss: They wanna keep him.
Jade: What?
Joss: The guy who gave Duckett the hand said that if you die while they’re in you, they have you forever. Have any of you guys… still been seeing stuff?
Hayley: What the fuck you mean, “seeing stuff”?
Mia: I saw my mum at the hospital.
Jade: And another one attacked Daniel at my house.
Hayley: Did you see something?
Daniel: Uh… not exactly.
Joss: What’s that supposed to mean, Daniel?
Daniel: I woke up and Mia was, I don't know, sucking my feet.
Jade: What the fuck?
Mia: Jade.
Jade: What do you mean, “woke up with Mia”? What do you mean, “sucking your feet”?
Mia: It wasn’t me. I couldn’t go home.
Joss: None of us have been seeing shit. We all did it. We were all there. Why would you see your mum? You didn’t even let her in.
Hayley: Wait, didn’t Duckett say they could imitate people?
Mia: Wait, who’s Duckett?
Joss: I got the hand off him. He, uh… I met him twice at some parties and… yeah, we did the hand shit, I asked if I could borrow it and he said I could keep it. He said he was seeing them without it.
Hayley: And then he went full skitz. Stabbed his brother, then killed himself.
Joss: Look, bruz, I know it’s a shit time for you, but we need your help.
Cole: Nah, man, I’m out.
Jade: Cole. I know how much it hurts to lose someone that close.
Cole: The people he let in messed up his head. If he’d stopped doing that fucking thing, they would’ve left.
Jade: My little brother’s in hospital. He went way over.
Cole: You let a kid do it? His body should kick ’em out. They get weaker the longer they’re in.
Jade: It hasn’t.
Cole: Give it time.
Jade: They’re killing him.
Cole: Maybe it’s time you stop fucking up people’s lives, Joss. What do you reckon?
Mia: Jade! Jade, just wait! Jade!
Jade: You shouldn’t have let him do it, Mia!
Mia: We all decided it’d be OK.
Hayley: We didn’t decide anything.
Mia: We did. We all said…
Hayley: We didn’t say shit, Mia. That was you. You let it go for two fucking minutes.
Jade: You sleep with my boyfriend. What the fuck’s wrong with you?
Daniel: Jade, it wasn’t like that.
Jade: Of course you take her side.
Mia: Jesus…
Jade: I wish that you didn’t force yourself into my family, Mia.
Mia: [tearfully] Um… Did we blow the candle out?
Joss: I don’t remember.
Mia: What if we opened the door but we didn’t shut it?
Joss: What are you saying?
Mia: We do it again with Riley but blow out the candle this time.
Jade: You want him to do it again? The thing that put him in hospital?
Mia: You wanna save him?
Jade: Don’t fucking ask me that.
Mia: We have to do something, Jade!
Mia: OK. Um… What if I use the hand to speak to him?
Jade: No.
Mia: What?
Jade: He’s not dead, Mi.
Mia: But what if his spirit is disconnected from his body? I thought these spirits were in limbo. Maybe that’s where Riley is.
Jade: Might not be him.
Mia: What if it is?
Jade: What if it isn’t?
Daniel: This is a bad idea, Mia.
Jade: Mia. Mia, don’t.
Mia: Riley, talk to me.
Daniel: Hey. Hey, hey, hey. You OK?
Mia: No! Don’t touch me! Don’t touch me!
Daniel: Hey, hey, hey.
Jade: Hey.
Daniel: It’s just us.
Jade: : It’s just me and Daniel. What happened?
Mia: [sobbing] I saw him. They’re hurting him, Jade. They’re not gonna stop. They’re never gonna stop.
Jade: [on phone] Hey.
Mia: Jade?
Jade: You OK?
Mia: I know what to do. We can save him.
Jade: [sighs] You know, I actually think he’s getting better. He woke up for a second. It’s like he was himself again.
Mia: I’ve seen him, Jade. He’s in pain. And every second is agony for him. Just come to mine. And I’ll show you.
Jade: Show me what?
Mia: You just have to be here, Jade. Please. Just trust me.
Jade: Oh, shit. OK. I’ll be there in 10.
Sue: Mia.
Mia: I’m… I’m sorry.
Sue: No, it’s OK. Sit. I was wondering when I’d see you again. You haven’t come.
Mia: You told me not to.
Sue: I know. I was mad.
Mia: You had every right to be. Still do.
Sue: No, I don’t. There were no drugs, Mia. [sighs] He had a breakdown. I just… I just… couldn’t face that. I’m so sorry that I blamed you. I know that you wouldn’t do anything to hurt him.
Mia: I love you guys.
Sue: You’re not Riley’s friend, Mia you’re his family. It’d mean so much to him that you were here.
Mia: Can I have a minute with him? Alone.
Sue: Of course.
Sue: [on phone] Jade. Where are you?
Jade: At Mia’s. She’s not here. Max needs an ambulance.
Sue: What… No, Mia’s here. What’s wrong? What’s happened?
Jade: She’s there?
Sue: Yeah, she’s with Riley.
Jade: Mum, she’s dangerous!
[Sue runs to Riley's room]
Sue: Mia? Riley! [to a nurse] Hey! Where’s my son? He was in this room.
Nurse: He should be here. He was just here.
Sue: Well, where the fuck is he?!
Rhea: I’m so proud of you. [cackles weakly] Take him, my darling girl. You’re doing the right thing. Show him the way.
Mia: I can protect him.
Rhea: We’ll have him forever.
