The Daleks are an extraterrestrial race of mutants in the British science fiction television series Doctor Who, created by the megalomaniacal scientist Davros of the planet Skaro to be an emotionless "master race" bent on universal conquest and domination, utterly without pity, compassion or remorse. Various storylines portray them as having had every emotion removed except hate, leaving them with a desire to purge the Universe of all non-Dalek life. Occasionally they are shown as experiencing other emotions, primarily fear, although such occurrences are rare.

Today the Kaled race is ended, consumed in a fire of war. But from its ashes will rise a new race: the supreme creature, the ultimate conquerer of the universe, the Dalek!
All inferior creatures are to be considered the enemy of the Daleks, and destroyed!
This is only the beginning. We will prepare, we will grow stronger. When the time is right, we will emerge and take our rightful place as the supreme power of the universe!
Emergency! Locate the TARDIS! Find the Doctor!
The Doctor is initiating hostile action!
You will be exterminated!
I obey.

The First Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by William Hartnell

The Daleks (1 December 1963 to 1 February 1964)[edit]

Dalek 1: You will move ahead of us and follow my directions. This way. Immediately.
[The Doctor and Susan move forward while Ian stays where he is]
Dalek 1: I said immediately!
[Ian runs off into an empty corridor]
Dalek 1: FIRE!
[The Daleks fire at Ian, who collapses on the floor]
Ian: My legs... My legs!
Dalek 2: [as Susan runs to help] STOP!
Dalek 1: [to Ian] Your legs are paralyzed. You will recover shortly, unless you force us to use our weapons again. In that case, the condition will be permanent. [to Susan and the Doctor] You two, help him.
Ian: My legs! My legs! I can't use my legs!

Dalek: They are to be made to believe that they are in a safe environment.

Dalek 2: I have just come from the prisoners. The old man is dying.
Dalek 3: Then he must die. There is no help we can give him. How are the others?
Dalek 1: The woman is sleeping very heavily, the young man fights against it.
Dalek 3: What of the girl? Has she reached the jungle?
Dalek 2: Yes. The rangoscopes tracked her that far, now they have lost her.

Ian: Not much room for my legs, but try the top. [They put the top of the Dalek on Ian]
The Doctor: How is it?
Ian / Dalek: [Distorted Dalek voice] It's very cramped indeed.
The Doctor: Can't you sound more like a Dalek?
Barbara: Yes, in a monotone, you've heard them.
Ian / Dalek: [Monotone Dalek voice] Do you mean like this?
[Susan and Barbara giggle]

Dalek: STOP!
Dalek / Ian: The council wishes to question the prisoners.
Dalek: I have not been informed. Wait.
[The Dalek goes over to the control panel and places its sucker over a control.]
Susan: NO! [Susan runs forward and is 'captured' by Ian and the Dalek, she winks at the Doctor]
Dalek: Hold her.
Dalek / Ian: I have got her. Now hold still. Help me get them inside.
[The Dalek opens the door; Barbara and the Doctor step in]
Dalek / Ian: [to Susan] You too.
Dalek: Shall I help you to the fourth level with them?
Dalek / Ian: No. Close the doors. The girl cannot run far inside.

Dalek: You have destroyed our videoscope and one of our lifts.
The Doctor: And you in turn killed the Thal leader in your ambush. And you will be responsible for more deaths unless you help these people.
Dalek: The only interest we have in the Thals is their total extermination!
Susan: What do you mean?
Dalek: Tomorrow, the atmosphere will be bombarded by the radiation from our nuclear reactors.
Susan: Why are you doing this?
The Doctor: That's sheer murder!
Dalek: No! Extermination!
The Doctor: But you must listen to reason! Please, you must!
Dalek: Without radiation, the Dalek race is ended. We need it as you and the Thals need air.
All Daleks: Tomorrow, we will be the masters of planet Skaro!

Dalek: What we need for life means death for the Thals.
The Doctor: You could live in the city, and the others could. But why do you have to destroy? Can't you use your brains for right?
Dalek: Only one race can survive!
The Doctor: What are you planning?
Dalek: We wish to escape captivity; go out and rebuild the planet Skaro. Our oxygen distributors will be subjected to waste radiation by the ejector capsule.
The Doctor: Nothing can live outside if you do that, nothing!
Dalek: Except the Daleks!
The Doctor: When do you intend to put this into operation?
Dalek: Now.
The Doctor: [fuming] This senseless, evil killing...!

[The Daleks' power source has been knocked out, causing their casings to shut down]
Dalek: Listen to me...
The Doctor: Yes?
Dalek: Stop our power from wasting... or it will be... the end... of the Daleks!...
The Doctor: [coldly] Even if I wanted to, I don't know how.
[The Dalek gives out a final, despairing cry, then falls motionless]

The Dalek Invasion of Earth[edit]

Dalek Supreme: Rebels of London! This is our last warning! Our final offer! Show yourselves in the open streets. You will be fed and watered, but work is needed from you. The Daleks offer you life! Rebel against us and the Daleks shall destroy London completely. Rebels of London, come out of your hiding places. The Daleks offer you life!

Supreme Dalek: Supreme command has ordered London to be destroyed by Fire-Bombs.
Dalek: Do you intend to stay here in the city?
Supreme Dalek: No. Order the saucer to take me to the mine workings in central England.

The Chase[edit]

Dalek: Our greatest enemies have left the planet Xeros. They are once again in time and space.
Dalek Supreme: They cannot escape! Our time machine will soon follow them! They will be exterminated! Exterminated! Exterminated!

Dalek 1: Align and Advance!
Dalek 2: Advance and Attack!
Dalek 3: Attack and Destroy!
All Daleks: Destroy and Rejoice!

Mission to the Unknown[edit]

Dalek Supreme: They cannot escape! At this moment they are being hunted down! They will be destroyed!

The Daleks' Master Plan[edit]

Dalek Supreme: No power in the universe can stop the Daleks!

Dalek: Operate pyro-flames!

Dalek Supreme: The time destructor is now completed! It only requires the core to be fitted! Mavic Chen, guardian of the Solar System, will address the meeting.

Dalek Supreme: You make your incompetence sound like an achievement!

The Second Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by Patrick Troughton

The Power of the Daleks[edit]

Daleks: We are better... different than human beings.

Dalek: With static power, the Daleks will be twice as... useful.

Dalek: Why do human beings kill human beings?

Dalek 1: Exterminate all humans!
Dalek 2: Exterminate all humans!
Dalek 1: Exterminate, annihilate, DESTROY!
All Daleks: Daleks conquer and destroy! Daleks conquer and destroy! Daleks conquer and destroy! Daleks conquer and destroy!

Dalek: We are not ready yet, to teach these human beings the law of the Daleks!

The Evil of the Daleks[edit]

[As the Imperial and Rebel Daleks battle]
Dalek Emperor: Danger! This is your Emperor speaking. There is danger here. Obey me! Do not fight in here! Do not fight in here! I SAID OBEY! OBEY ME! YOUR EMPEROR IS ORDERING YOU! DO NOT FIGHT IN HERE! DO NOT FIGHT IN HERE! DALEKS, OBEY ME! OBEY! OBEY! YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED! ALL EXTERMINATED! WE WILL ALL BE EXTERMINATED! ANNIHILATED! THE DALEK RACE WILL DIE OUT COMPLETELY! OBEY YOUR EMPEROR! OBEY! OBE--
[A Rebel Dalek blasts his casing]

Dalek: Who are you?! ANSWER!

[After Kennedy is exterminated]
Waterfield: Kennedy! What happened?
Dalek: The human discovered our communications system.
Waterfield: And you murdered him?!
Dalek: He would have betrayed us.
Waterfield: You don't have to kill--
Dalek: Silence!
Waterfield: I won't be silent! What are you dragging me into? You've destroyed a human life! Don't you understand that?!
Dalek: That is of no consequence.
Waterfield: No consequence?!
Dalek: There is only one form of life that matters: Dalek life! Obey your orders, Waterfield!

Dalek: Our plan has worked. We shall triumph! You will obey! You will obey!
The Doctor: Obey? What do you want?
Dalek: We have your time ship. We will destroy it unless you help us with an experiment.
The Doctor: What experiment?
Dalek: You will help the Daleks test another human being.
The Doctor: What sort of test?
Dalek: Do not question!
The Doctor: [furiously] I WILL NOT BE YOUR SLAVE!--
Waterfield: Stop, Doctor, I beg you!
Dalek: No harm will come to you if you agree. Where is your companion?
The Doctor: ... Jamie?
Waterfield: He is in the house. I have done everything you asked me to.
The Doctor: Why do you ask about Jamie?
Dalek: He is the human being who is to be tested.
The Doctor: What do you mean, tested how?
Dalek: Silence! You will reveal nothing to your companion. Obey the Daleks! You are in our power!

[Maxtible is brought to see a Black Dalek]
Black Dalek: [to Maxtible] Where is the Doctor?
Maxtible: I had no time to get him.
Black Dalek: No time?
Maxtible: I was told my house was going to be destroyed! Why?
Black Dalek: You did not bring the Doctor?!
Maxtible: Everything I possess is in that house! Everything! What right did you or anyone have to destroy it?
Black Dalek: Right? Right?!
Maxtible: [ranting on] All those years of labour-
Black Dalek: Right?
Maxtible: [continuing, ignoring the Black Dalek] All these years of research! Destroyed through this great plan of yours!
Black Dalek: [almost curiously] Right?
Maxtible: My laboratory, the only real thing in the whole of my existence! Destroyed! I, Theodore Maxtible, made a bargain with you and I demand to know-ahh! ahh! [The Black Dalek shoves him back with its manipulator arm]
Black Dalek: [angrily] You have disobeyed a Dalek command! [A jumble of sounds follows, the Black Dalek rebuking him for his failure and him in turn protesting that it was not his fault]
[An alarm on the wall suddenly starts to blare, and the Black Dalek turns immediately, and moves away down the corridor]
Dalek: Move!
Maxtible: What's happening? What are you going to do with me?
Dalek: Obey! Move! [both the Dalek and Maxtible depart]

The Third Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by Jon Pertwee

Day of the Daleks[edit]

Gold Dalek: Do not dispute with the Daleks! Obey without question!

Dalek: No-one can succeed, who opposes the Daleks.

Gold Dalek: Whoever is operating the time machine is the enemy of the Daleks! All enemies of the Daleks must be destroyed! Exterminate them!
Daleks: [in unison] Exterminate them! Exterminate them! Exterminate them!

Gold Dalek: No one can withstand the power of the Daleks!

Gold Dalek: You are a traitor to the Daleks! You will be exterminated!
Controller: Who knows? I may have helped to exterminate you.

Planet of the Daleks[edit]

Dalek: Energy levels building to lift-off capacity. Prepare for ascent!

Head of the Supreme Dalek Council: Report!
Dalek: Aliens still at liberty!
Head of the Supreme Dalek Council: All Dalek units are to be assigned through their capture immediately. Take charge of all controls. Report on invisibility experiments.
Dalek: Daleks can now achieve total invisibility in periods in excess of two work cycles.
Dalek Supreme: Satisfactory. The Supreme Council has ordered our army to be activated immediately. The invasion of all solar planets is to begin today!

Head of the Supreme Dalek Council: Order space transporters to assemble and await landing orders.
Dalek: I obey.
Head of the Supreme Dalek Council: [Turns to the Dalek Leader] The action of the aliens has caused considerable disruption of operations on this planet.
Dalek Leader: This was a matter beyond my control.
Head of the Supreme Dalek Council: Your orders were to exterminate them!
Dalek Leader: It has not been possible. We have been unable to use the bacteria bombs.
Head of the Supreme Dalek Council: The responsibility was yours! You have failed! The Supreme Council does not accept failure!
[The Supreme Dalek exterminates the failed Dalek]

Head of the Supreme Dalek Council: Have Supreme Command send rescue craft.
Dalek: I obey.
Head of the Supreme Dalek Council: Preparations will begin at once to free our army from the ice. We have been delayed, not defeated. The Daleks are never defeated!

Death to the Daleks[edit]

[The Daleks discover that their weapons are now useless due to the energy drain.]
Dalek: The power failure is temporary. Superior Dalek technology will overcome interference shortly. Meanwhile you will obey our orders!

Dalek 1: Target model destroyed.
Dalek 2: Substitute weaponry functioning satisfactorily.
Dalek 1: We will proceed immediately!
[Both Daleks exit the ship, and are spotted by two Exxilons who raise their bows, but the Daleks quickly shoot them down with machine guns]
Dalek 2: Primitive weapons moderately efficient.

Dalek: Voices were heard, move into the firelight!

Dalek: Total extermination! Fire! Fire! Fire!
(the Daleks fire their guns at the Doctor who holds Sarah Jane somewhat close to him. As the Daleks fire, the Doctor shuts his eyes hoping for the worst but nothing happens)
Dalek: Maximum power! Fire! Fire! Fire!
(the Daleks fire again and again, nothing happens)

The Fourth Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by Tom Baker

Genesis of the Daleks[edit]

[While performing a weapons test of the first Dalek.]
Davros: Observe the test closely, my friend. This will be a moment that will live in history...

The Doctor: A Dalek...
Sullivan: What?
The Doctor: Dalek. Very primitive, but undeniably a Dalek.
Ronson: You're mistaken! It's a Mark III Travel Machine!
[Beat.]
The Doctor: If you say so.

[After Ronson stops Davros' Dalek from killing the Doctor and Harry during a demonstration]
Davros: You dare to interfere? You have the audacity to interrupt one of my experiments?!
Ronson: But it would have destroyed him!
Davros: [with rising anger] So, you think the saving of a worthless life more important than the progress we have made?! My creature showed a natural desire, an instinct to destroy, and you interceded! YOU WILL BE PUNISHED FOR THIS!
Ronson: Davros, I'm sorry, but I believe that these prisoners, they could be extremely valuable. By all means, when I have my questions, let the machine do what it likes with them, but I do need to interrogate them further.
Davros: [more controlled] You will be punished for insubordination! In the meantime, you may question the prisoners until first light. After that, they will be used to resume the experiment. This meeting is ended.

[Davros and Nyder have just proposed a plan of Mutually Assured Destruction using rockets with the capability to shatter the Thals' shields.]
Councilor: Why are you giving us this information? You know that your own people, the Kaleds, will be utterly exterminated!
Davros: No price is too great to pay for peace. I only ask that, when the war is over, I be allowed to help in the reconstruction of our planet...
Nyder: We want only to see the conflict brought to an end. This formula gives you the power to bring that about.
Davros: By dawn tomorrow, our world could be at peace...
[The Councilor consider this. Davros and Nyder exit the room, waiting just outside the door.]
Nyder: You think they believed you?
Davros: It is unimportant; they are hungry for victory. They will use the formula and fire their rocket no matter what they believe my motives to be. And when they do, Nyder, when they do...

Davros: Today the Kaled race is ended, consumed in a fire of war. But from its ashes will rise a new race: the supreme creature, the ultimate conquerer of the universe, the DALEK!

[The Doctor has repeatedly refused to give Davros the knowledge of the Daleks' future defeat.]
Davros: You will tell me, because you have a weakness that I have totally eliminated from the minds of the Daleks so that they will always be superior. A weakness that will make you give the knowledge to change the future... You are afflicted with a conscience!

Davros: Now, future errors will be eradicated. Defeats will become victories. You have changed the future of the universe, Doctor!
The Doctor: I have betrayed the future. Davros, for the last time, consider what you're doing. Stop the development of the Daleks.
Davros: Impossible. It is beyond my control. The workshops are already fully automated to produce the Dalek machines.
The Doctor: It's not the machines, it's the minds of the creatures inside them. Minds that you created! They are totally evil!
Davros: Evil?! No! No, I will not accept that. They are conditioned simply to survive. They can survive only by becoming the dominant species. When all other lifeforms are suppressed, when the Daleks are the supreme rulers of the universe - then you will have peace. Wars will end. They are the power not of evil, but of good.
The Doctor: Davros... if you had created a virus in your laboratory, something contagious and infectious that killed on contact, a virus that would destroy all other forms of life, would you allow its use?
Davros: It is an interesting conjecture...
The Doctor: Would you do it?
Davros: The only living thing... A microscopic organism reigning supreme... A fascinating idea!...
The Doctor: But would you do it?
Davros: Yes... Yes... To hold in my hand, a capsule that contained such power... To know that life and death on such a scale was my choice... To know that the tiny pressure of my thumb - enough to break the glass - would end everything... Yes! I would do it! That power would set me up above the gods! AND THROUGH THE DALEKS, I SHALL HAVE THAT POWER!

Davros: I will abide by the decision of the majority.
Gharman: You already know the decision of the majority. You will lose, Davros!
Davros: With such confidence, you can hardly deny my request. It was you who introduced the word "democracy".

Davros: Ours is the victory, Nyder. We have won! They talk of democracy, freedom, fairness. Those are the creeds of cowards! The ones who will listen to a thousand viewpoints and try to satisfy them all. Achievement comes through absolute power. And power, through strength! They have lost!

Davros: This is your last chance. Move to join me now, or suffer the consequences.
Gharman: Why don't you just accept the fact that you have lost? It's over for you, Davros.
Davros: Do you believe that I would let a lifetime's work be ended by the will of spineless fools like you? You have won nothing! I allowed this charade to be played out for one reason only: to find those men who were truly loyal to me, and to discover those who would betray me! We - I WILL GO ON!

Davros: I have given my life's work to the survival of our race. The travel machine I designed -- the "Dalek" -- will give the creature into which we will mutate... its only possibility of continued existence!
Gharman: But you have deviated from that intention. You have introduced genetic changes that will alter the mutation into a creature without... morals and without ethics!
Davros: I have introduced aggression! Without which no race can survive...
Gharman: An aggression without a conscience!
Davros: History will show that cooperation between different species is impossible.

Davros: You must obey me! I created you! I am the master, not you! I! I! I!
Dalek: Our programming does not permit us to acknowledge that any creature is superior to the Daleks!
Davros: You cannot exist without me! You cannot progress!
Dalek: We are programmed to survive! We have the ability to develop in any way necessary to ensure that survival!

Dalek: All inferior creatures are to be considered the enemy of the Daleks, and destroyed!
Davros: No, wait! Those men are scientists; they can help you! Let them live! Have pity!
Dalek: "Pity"? I have no understanding of the word. It is not registered in my vocabulary bank. EXTERMINATE! [fires]
Davros: For the last time, I am your creator! You must! You will obey me!
Dalek: We obey no one! We are the superior beings!
[Davros reaches for the button that will shut down the production line.]
Daleks: [unison] EXTERMINATE! [fire]
[Davros screams in agony]
Dalek: We are entombed, but we live on. This is only the beginning. We will prepare, we will grow stronger. When the time is right, we will emerge and take our rightful place as the supreme power of the universe!

Destiny of the Daleks[edit]

[Interrogating Romana]
Dalek 1: We will continue!
Dalek 2: You will not remove your hand from the sensor!

Dalek: Seek! Locate! Exterminate!

Davros: Errors of the past will be rectified. I will add new design elements to the Daleks' circuitry. They will be armed with new weaponry - weaponry so devastating that all matter will succumb to its power! I will equip them with all the knowledge of the universe...
The Doctor: Yes, yes, yes, we've heard all that. The Daleks can do all that for themselves.
Davros: The Daleks need me!
The Doctor: [incredulous] What?! The Daleks left you for dead centuries ago! You've given them all you've got! What do they want you for now? What's so special about the Movellans that they need your help again? Eh?!

Davros: Since my entombment, I have no knowledge of the advancement of my Daleks. Of course, they have achieved great things?
The Doctor: Oh yes. Oh yes. They've wreaked havoc and destruction, destroyed countless innocent lives...
Davros: Only the beginning! Now that I have returned, the campaign will begin in earnest! I have slept, but now I have awakened, and the universe will be sorry.
The Doctor: "I have slept, but now I have awakened, and the universe will be..." You're misquoting Napoleon! One day I'll tell you what happened to him.

Davros: It seems we have both been much in demand, Doctor.
The Doctor: Well, it's nice to be wanted, isn't it?
Davros: Putting aside our differences for a moment, and speaking simply as scientists, the problem is fascinating, don't you agree?
The Doctor: Oh yes, two vast computers so evenly matched they can't out-think one another.
Davros: Two space fleets totally impotent!
The Doctor: Yes.
Davros: You know how the stalemate can be broken, of course.
The Doctor: Oh, of course.
Davros: I realized you would. So obvious... but they can't see it. Would you have told the Movellans?
The Doctor: Oh, no.
Davros: I suspected you wouldn't.
The Doctor: Would you have told the Daleks?
Davros: I dared not take the risk. I had to stop them taking you.
The Doctor: But you failed. The prisoners set me free.
Davros: [aggressively] The Movellan ship will never lift off! [more calmly] ... Soon my Daleks, carrying more than half a megaton of explosives, will press against the hull... and I will simply activate this control to detonate.
The Doctor: Really? And how will you stop me activating that control before they reach their target?
[A Dalek moves up behind the Doctor]
Davros: I would not.
The Doctor: Really?
Dalek: DO NOT MOVE! [The Doctor flinches, holding up his hands in surrender]
Davros: You see? There's nothing you can do to stop it now.

The Fifth Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by Peter Davison

The Five Doctors[edit]

Dalek: Halt! At once! You will be exterminated! HALT! HALT!

Dalek: It is the Doctor! The Doctor must be destroyed!

Dalek: Obey! Obey the Daleks! You will be exterminated!

[outtake]
Dalek: Bugger! I've lost 'em!

Resurrection of the Daleks[edit]

[Davros has just been revived]
Davros: Who... are you?
Lytton: Commander Lytton.
Davros: "Commander"? My Daleks do not need troops!
Lytton: You'd still be imprisoned or dead if it weren't for my men.
Davros: You speak as though my Daleks are no longer capable of war!
Lytton: A lot has happened during your imprisonment.
Davros: The war with the Movellans is over?
Lytton: Yes, although casualties were very high.
Davros: It is to be expected.
Lytton: I'm talking about Dalek casualties.
Davros: [shocked] ... Dalek casualties?!
Lytton: They lost, Davros. They were totally defeated.
[Davros seethes and splutters with fury]

[While Kiston repairs Davros' chair]
Davros: Tell me about the Dalek defeat.
Lytton: You already know most of it. The Daleks and the Movellans were locked in an impasse. Each time their respective fleets attempted a stratagem, it was instantly anticipated and countered by their opponent's battle computer.
Davros: Two totally logical war machines, unable to out-think each other... Fascinating! If only I'd been there!
Lytton: Then the Movellans found the answer--
[Kiston causes a little electric spark, making Davros flinch and gasp]
Kiston: Sorry, sir.
Davros: Quickly, tell me!
Lytton: They developed a virus which exclusively attacks the Daleks. The fleet was destroyed; those who survived went to separate parts of the universe, to escape the risk of further infection and... work on a cure.
Davros: Have they succeeded?
Lytton: Not yet.
Davros: So, they have returned to their creator. Like an errant child, they have come home once more. But this time, they will not abuse me! This time, I shall take my rightful place as their Supreme Being! AND UNDER MY CONTROL, THE DALEKS SHALL ONCE MORE BECOME TRIUMPHANT!

Davros: Ninety years I was frozen in that. Ninety years of mind-numbing boredom!
Lytton: You were conscious?
Davros: Every second. The creatures of Earth have no stomach for judicial murder. They prefer to leave you to rot and die. They call it being humane.
Kiston: Then you must be equally humane in your revenge.
Davros: It is a planet I shall destroy at my leisure. But first, I must deal with a meddling Time Lord.

Dalek: Your duplicates will return to Gallifrey, where, on our command, you will assassinate the members of the High Council!
The Doctor: NO!

[Some of the Daleks have sided with Davros]
Dalek #1: We must find the traitors. The enemy of the Daleks must be destroyed!
Dalek #2: We are not traitors. We serve our creator, Davros.
Dalek #1: The Supreme Dalek is your ruler! He must be obeyed at all times!
Dalek #2: Davros must be honoured!
Dalek #1: He must be exterminated! Nothing must interfere with the true destiny of the Daleks! You must be exterminated! Exterminated! EXTERMINATED! [destroys the second Dalek]

The Doctor: I'm not here as your prisoner, Davros, but your executioner.
Davros: Listen to me. I had planned to completely redesign the Daleks. Kiston will confirm I am telling the truth.
Kiston: It is so.
Davros: My mistake was making them totally ruthless. It restricted their ability to cope with creatures who rely not only on logic, but instinct and intuition. That is a factor I wish to correct.
The Doctor: And compassion? Are they to be programmed for that?
Davros: They will learn to recognize the strength that can be drawn from such an emotion.
The Doctor: But only to make the Daleks more efficient killers.
Davros: To make them a more positive force!
The Doctor: For destruction!
Davros: The universe is at war, Doctor! Name one planet whose history is not littered with atrocities and ambition for empire. It is a universal way of life!
The Doctor: Which I do not accept.
Davros: Then you deny what is real.

Davros: You hesitate Doctor. If I were you, I'd be dead.
The Doctor: I lack your practice, Davros.
Davros: You are soft, like all Time Lords. You prefer to stand and watch. Action requires courage - something you lack.

The Sixth Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by Colin Baker

Revelation of the Daleks[edit]

Davros: You are old, Orcini! Your reflexes have gone! Do you think you're the first to try and kill me?! That tank was but a simple lure - a focal point for the assassin's bullet!

The Doctor: I see you've been busy.
Davros: Whereas you have been stupid, Doctor.
The Doctor: Prerogative of a Time Lord. Where's Peri?
Davros: Safe... for the time being.
The Doctor: I must say I'm surprised to see you. The last time we met, your ship blew up - I thought with you on board.
Davros: Not when there is an escape pod to be had.
The Doctor: Or, it seems, a lift by a transporter to this place.
Davros: Ah, there I was fortunate.
The Doctor: I liked the statue, by the way. Very good likeness. Though really, you shouldn't have bothered.
Davros: As for the news of Stengos' death, it was all part of my scheme to lure you here.
The Doctor: All very clever. Apart form a little grave-robbing, what else have you been up to?
Davros: You cannot steal what has already been abandoned. No one is interested in the people here.
The Doctor: That's not what I've heard.
Davros: As your grave-robbing friends have now been exterminated, you will not hear the complaint again!
The Doctor: Do you never do anything but kill?
Davros: There you are mistaken, Doctor! I am known as the Great Healer - a somewhat flippant title, perhaps, but not without foundation! I have conquered the diseases that brought their victims here. In every way, I have complied with the wishes of those who came in anticipation of one day being returned to life.
The Doctor: But never, in their worst nightmares, did any of them expect to come back... as Daleks.
Davros: All the resting ones I have used were people of status, ambition. They would understand! Especially as I have given them the opportunity to become masters of the universe!
The Doctor: With you as their Emperor. But what of the lesser intellects? Or will they be left to rot?
Davros: You should know me better than that, Doctor. I never waste a valuable commodity. The humanoid form makes an excellent concentrated produce. This part of the galaxy is developing quickly. Famine was one of its major problems.
The Doctor: You've turned them into food?!
Davros: A scheme that has earned me great acclaim!
The Doctor: But did you ever bother to tell anyone that they might be eating their own relatives?!
Davros: Certainly not! That would have created what I believe is termed "consumer resistance". They were grateful for the food. It allowed them to go on living.
The Doctor: Until you take over their planet.
Davros: Precisely.

[Davros' hand has been blown off]
Davros: Prepare the surgical unit! Such a foolish waste of energy!
The Doctor: No 'arm in trying.
Davros: [seething] When you become a Dalek, you will suffer for every indignity you have ever caused me!

The Doctor: [sees two Daleks] Ah, there you are. They went that way.
Dalek: You will come with us!
[The Doctor raises his hands]

Davros: A box of delight... or a box of hate.

Dalek: You must surrender. The Earth woman must come with us. It is futile to resist!

[The Renegade Daleks have captured Davros]
Renegade Dalek: You are to be taken back to Skaro to stand trial for crimes against the Daleks!
Takis: This used to be a good place before you came. I enjoyed working here. Once you've gone, it will be a good place again.
The Doctor: I wouldn't be too certain of that. You'll be lucky to be alive at the end of this.
Takis: But they're going to destroy Davros' Daleks.
Renegade Dalek: They will not be destroyed. They will be reconditioned to obey the will of the Supreme Dalek! [to Davros] You will come with us!
Davros: No! Take him! He is the sworn enemy of the Daleks! He is the Doctor!
The Doctor: [playing innocent] Doctor? No.
Renegade Dalek: His image does not compute with the known appearance of the Doctor.
Davros: He's regenerated, fool!
Renegade Dalek: He will be held prisoner until we can verify if you are correct. You will come with us, or be exterminated here!
Davros: [to the Doctor] You have not heard the last of me! I shall return!
The Doctor: And I shall be waiting for you.

[Davros is taken to the Renegade Dalek ship]
Davros: I created you! I am your master!
Renegade Dalek: We serve only the Supreme Dalek.
Davros: That upstart! I could make you all Supreme Daleks! I have the power! You must obey ME!

The Seventh Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by Sylvester McCoy

Remembrance of the Daleks[edit]

Imperial Dalek: You are the Doctor! You are the enemy of the Daleks! You will be exterminated! Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!

Imperial Dalek: Small human female sighted on level three.
Ace: Who are you calling "small"?! (smites Dalek with electrified baseball bat)
Imperial Dalek: Under attack! Under attack!

[Smith turns around, to see two Renegade Daleks gliding towards him from behind the door]
Renegade Daleks: EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!
Sergeant Smith: No, no, don't! I have a message for Mister Radcliffe! Do you understand? A message for Mister Radcliffe.
Renegade Dalek: You are my prisoner. You will obey all instructions or you will be exterminated!
Sergeant Smith: [relieved] You said it, mate!

The Girl: [to Mr. Ratcliffe] You are a slave, Ratcliffe. You were born to serve the Daleks!

[Shot of Imperial Dalek shuttle boarding the mothership]
Imperial Dalek: Prepare for shuttle docking.
Imperial Dalek Emperor: Lock the Hand of Omega into the control circuit.
Imperial Dalek: Omega device is now locked in and running.

The Doctor: Hello, hello, hello. Dalek mothership. Come in please, come in please!
[A picture of the Imperial Dalek Emperor appears on the television screen]
The Doctor: Ah... There you are. This is the Doctor, president elect of the High Council of Time Lords, Keeper of the Legacy of Rassilon, Defender of the Laws of Time, Protector of Gallifrey. I call upon you to surrender the Hand of Omega and return to your customary time and place!
Imperial Dalek Emperor: Ah, Doctor. You have changed again. Your appearance is as inconstant as your intelligence. You have confounded me for the last time!
[The Dalek Emperor's dome opens to reveal Davros]
The Doctor: Davros. I should have known. I see you've discarded the last vestige of your human form. It's still no improvement.
Davros: Save your insults for the weak-minded, Doctor.
The Doctor: Will you return the Hand of Omega or not?!
Davros: Are you threatening me? If so, it is most unwise.
The Doctor: Every time our paths have crossed, I have defeated you.
Davros: [laughing] You flatter yourself, Doctor! in the end, you are merely another Time Lord!
The Doctor: Oh, Davros. I am far more than "just another Time Lord".

The Doctor: Davros, the Hand of Omega is not to be trifled with!
Davros: I think I am quite capable of handling the technology.
The Doctor: I sincerely doubt that.
Davros: Does it worry you, Doctor... that with it, I will transform Skaro's sun into a source of unimaginable power?! And with that power at my disposal, the Daleks shall sweep away Gallifrey, and its impotent quorum of Time Lords! The Daleks shall become Lords of Time! We shall become all...
The Doctor: ... Powerful! Crush the lesser races! Conquer the galaxy! Unimaginable power! Unlimited rice pudding! Et cetera! Et cetera!
Davros: Do not anger me, Doctor! I can destroy you! And this miserable, insignificant planet!
The Doctor: Oh, wonderful! What power! What brilliance! You can wipe out the odd civilisation and enslave the occasional culture, but it still won't detract from the basic fundimental truth of your own impotence!
Davros: I will teach you the folly of your words, Doctor! I will destroy you, and demonstrate the power of the Daleks!

The Ninth Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by Christopher Eccleston

Dalek[edit]

NOTE:for this first section, the last Dalek is identified as "Metaltron", because this was what Henry Van Statten called it before it named itself to Van Statten, and also it coincides with the story.
The Doctor: I've come to help. I'm the Doctor.
"Metaltron": (grating) Doc-tor?
The Doctor: (shocked) Impossible...
"Metaltron": THE Doctor?! (suddenly lights turn on, revealing the little blue light to be a Dalek in chains) Exterminate! Exterminate!
The Doctor: (terrified, rushing to the door) LET ME OUT!
Dalek: EXTERMINATE! YOU ARE AN ENEMY OF THE DALEKS! YOU MUST BE DESTROYED! (gun twitches, attempting to fire)
The Doctor: (relieved) It's not working...! (laughs hatefully and mockingly) Fantastic! Oh, FANTASTIC! Powerless! Look at you - the great space dustbin! (moving forward aggressively) How does it feel?!
Dalek: (straining against its chains) Keep back!
The Doctor: What for?! What are you gonna do to me?! If you can't kill, then what are you good for, Dalek?! What's the point of you?! You're NOTHING! What the hell are you here for?
Dalek: I am... waiting for orders.
The Doctor: What does that mean?
Dalek: I am a soldier. I was bred to receive orders.
The Doctor: Well, you're never gonna get any. Not ever.
Dalek: I DEMAND orders!
The Doctor: They're never gonna come! Your race is dead! You all burned, all of you, ten million ships on fire - the entire Dalek race wiped out in one second!
Dalek: YOU LIE!
The Doctor: I watched it happen! I MADE it happen!
Dalek: YOU DESTROYED US?!
The Doctor: (more quietly, full of regret) I had no choice.
Dalek: And what of the Time Lords?
The Doctor: Dead. They burned with you. The end of the Last Great Time War. Everyone lost.
Dalek: (contemptuous) And the coward survived.
The Doctor: (mockingly) Oh, and I caught your little signal! "Help me!" Poor little thing! (sadly) But there's no one else coming, 'cause there's no one else left.
Dalek: I... am alone in the universe.
The Doctor: Yep. (smiles)
Dalek: So are you. (The Doctor's smile fades) We are the same.
The Doctor: (angrily) WE'RE NOT THE SAME, I'M NOT-- ... No, wait. Maybe we are! You're right, yeah, okay, you've got a point! 'Cause I know what to do. I know what should happen. I know what you deserve... (deliberately pauses dramatically) Exterminate!
[He pulls a lever, causing the Dalek's prison to electrocute it; he watches sadistically as it screams in pain]
Dalek: HAVE PITY!
The Doctor: Why should I?! You never did!
Dalek: HELP ME!

Rose: (approaching the Dalek) ... Hello. Are you in pain? My name's Rose Tyler. I've got a friend who can help, he's called the Doctor. What's your name?
Dalek: (quietly) Yes.
Rose: What?
Dalek: (eyestalk lifts feebly) I... am in pain. They torture me... but still they fear me. Do you fear me?
Rose: No.
Dalek: (eyestalk drops, as if in resignation) I... am... dying.
Rose: No, we can help--
Dalek: I... welcome death. But... I am glad... that before I die... I have met a human who was not afraid.
Rose: Isn't there anything I can do?
Dalek: My race... is dead. I shall die... alone.

[The Dalek after finishing regenerating and downloading the internet]
The Last Dalek: The Daleks survive ... in ME!

Adam: [from the top of the staircase] Great big alien death machine, defeated by a flight of stairs!
De Maggio: Now listen to me. I demand that you return to your cage. If you want to negotiate, then I can guarantee that Mr. Van Statten will be willing to talk. I accept that we imprisoned you, and maybe that was wrong. But people have died! And that stops right now. The killing stops, have you got that? I demand that you surrender! Is that clear?
The Last Dalek: [after a brief silence] Elevate!
[The Dalek rises into the air and starts floating up the stairs]

The Last Dalek: [on a monitor] I shall speak only to the Doctor.
The Doctor: [regarding the water from the sprinklers falling upon the Dalek] You're gonna get rusty.
The Last Dalek: I fed off the DNA of Rose Tyler. Extrapolating the biomass of a time-traveller regenerated me.
The Doctor: What's your next trick?
The Last Dalek: I have been searching for the Daleks.
The Doctor: Yeah, I saw. Downloading the internet. What did you find?
The Last Dalek: I scanned your satellites and radio telescopes.
The Doctor: And?
The Last Dalek: [haltingly] Nothing. [exploding with anger] WHERE SHALL I GET MY ORDERS NOW?!
The Doctor: You're just a soldier without commands.
The Last Dalek: Then I shall follow the Primary Order: the Dalek instinct TO DESTROY, TO CONQUER!
The Doctor: But what for?! What's the point?! Don't you see? It's all gone. Everything you were, everything you stood for.
The Last Dalek: [hesitant] Then what should I do?
The Doctor: All right. If you want orders, then follow this one: kill yourself.
The Last Dalek: The Daleks must survive!
The Doctor: [angrily] The Daleks have failed! Now why don't you finish the job, and make the Daleks extinct?! Rid the universe of your filth! WHY WON'T YOU JUST DIE?!
The Last Dalek: You would make a good Dalek. [monitor shuts off]

[Rose is cornered by the Dalek, but it finds itself reluctant to kill her]
Rose: Go on then, kill me. [no response] Why are you doing this?!
The Last Dalek: I am armed. I will kill! It is my purpose!
Rose: They're all dead because of you!
The Last Dalek: They are dead because of us!
Rose: And now what? What are you waiting for?
The Last Dalek: I... feel... your fear.
Rose: Well, what do you expect--?
The Last Dalek: [panicked] Daleks do not fear! Must not fear! [shoots, but the blasts hit the walls either side of Rose] You gave me life! What else have you given me?! I am contaminated!

Rose: I'm begging you, don't kill them. You didn't kill me.
The Last Dalek: But why not? Why are you alive? My function is to kill! What am I? What am I?!

The Last Dalek: Van Statten. You tortured me. Why?
Henry Van Statten: (increasingly nervous as the Dalek gets closer) I wanted to help you, I just... I don't know, I was trying to help. I thought, if we could get through to you, we could mend you... I wanted you better. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry! I swear! I just wanted you to TALK!
The Last Dalek: Then hear me talk now. Exterminate! Exterminate! EXTERMINATE!
Rose: DON'T DO IT, DON'T KILL HIM! (the Dalek's eyestalk turns to her) You don't have to do this anymore. There must be something else, not just killing. What else is there? What do you want?
The Last Dalek: (considers; eyestalk moves back to Van Statten, but then back to Rose) I want... freedom.

Rose: It couldn't kill Van Statten, it couldn't kill me - it's changing! What about you, Doctor? What the hell are you changing into?
The Doctor: I couldn't... I wasn't... Oh, Rose. They're all dead.
The Last Dalek: Why... do we survive?
The Doctor: I don't know.
The Last Dalek: I... am the last... of the Daleks.
The Doctor: You're not even that. Rose did more than regenerate you. You've absorbed her DNA. You're mutating.
The Last Dalek: Into... what?
The Doctor: Something new. I'm sorry.
Rose: But isn't that better?
The Doctor: [sadly] Not for a Dalek.
The Last Dalek: I can... feel so many ideas... So much darkness... Rose, give me orders. Order me... to die.
Rose: I can't do that.
The Last Dalek: This is not life. This is... sickness. I shall not be like you. Order my destruction! [in desperation] Obey! Obey! OBEY!
Rose: [reluctantly] Do it.
The Last Dalek: [quietly] Are you... frightened, Rose Tyler?
Rose: [holding back tears] Yeah.
The Last Dalek: So am I. Exterminate...
[The Dalek surrounds itself in a forcefield and self-destructs]

Bad Wolf[edit]

Dalek #1: Alert! Alert! We are detected!
Dalek #2: It is the Doctor! He has located us! Open communications channel!
Dalek #1: [turning towards Rose] The female will stand! STAND!

Dalek: I will talk to the Doctor.
The Doctor: Oh, will you? That's nice. Hello!
Dalek: The Dalek Stratagem nears completion. The Fleet is almost ready. You will not intervene.
The Doctor: Oh, really? Why's that then?
Dalek: We have your associate. You will obey or she will be exterminated.
The Doctor: No.
[The Daleks are a bit thrown by this]
Dalek: Explain yourself.
The Doctor: I said no.
Dalek: What is the meaning of this negative?
The Doctor: It means "no".
Dalek: But she will be destroyed!
The Doctor: No! 'Cause this is what I'm gonna do - I'm gonna rescue her. I'm gonna save Rose Tyler from the middle of the Dalek Fleet, and then I'm gonna save the Earth, and then just to finish off, I'm gonna wipe every last stinking Dalek outta the sky!
Dalek: But you have no weapons! No defences! No plan!
The Doctor: Yeah. And doesn't that scare you to death!

Dalek #1: The Doctor is initiating hostile action!
Dalek #2: The Stratagem must advance! Begin the invasion of Earth!
Dalek #3: The Doctor will be exterminated!
Daleks: [in unison] Exterminate!
[A long shot reveals thousands of Daleks, chanting in unison]
Daleks: Exterminate! Exterminate! EXTERMINATE!

The Parting of the Ways[edit]

Dalek #1: You know the Doctor. You understand him. You will predict his actions!
Rose: I don't know! [nervously, as the Dalek moves closer] And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you--
Dalek #1: Predict! Predict! PREDICT!
Dalek #2: TARDIS detected, in flight.
Dalek #1: Launch missiles!
Dalek #2: Exterminate!
Rose: You can't! That TARDIS doesn't have any defences! You're gonna kill him!
Dalek #1: You have predicted correctly!

[The Daleks surround the TARDIS]
Dalek Emperor: [unseen] Patience, my brethren.

Daleks: Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!
[The Daleks fire, but their weapons impact against a forcefield that protects the Doctor]
The Doctor: Is that it? Useless! Nul points!

The Doctor: So tell me. How did you survive the Time War?
Dalek Emperor: They survived through me.
[Lights turn on, revealing a huge Dalek casing in the centre of the ship]
The Doctor: Rose, Captain... this is the Emperor of the Daleks.
Dalek Emperor: You destroyed us, Doctor. The Dalek race died in your inferno, but my ship survived - falling through time; crippled, but alive!
The Doctor: I get it.
Dalek #1: [frenzied] Do not interrupt!
Dalek #2: Do not interrupt!
Dalek #3: Do not interrupt!
The Doctor: I think you are forgetting something. I'm the Doctor, and if there is one thing I can do, it's talk! I've got 5 billion languages and you haven't got one way of stopping me, so if anybody's gonna shut up, IT'S YOU!
[Daleks quickly back away from the Doctor]
The Doctor: Okey-doke! So, where were we?
Dalek Emperor: We waited here, in the dark space, damaged but rebuilding. Centuries passed, and we quietly infiltrated the systems of Earth, harvesting the waste of humanity. The prisoners, the refugees, the dispossessed, they all came to us. The bodies were filleted, pulped, sifted. The seed of the human race is perverted; only one cell in a billion was fit to be nurtured!
The Doctor: So, you created an army of Daleks out of the dead.
Rose: That makes them... half human.
Dalek Emperor: [voice rising] Those words are blasphemy!
Dalek #1: Do not blaspheme!
Dalek #2: Do not blaspheme!
Dalek #3: Do not blaspheme!
Dalek Emperor: Everything human has been purged! I cultivated pure and blessed Dalek!
The Doctor: [shocked] Since when did the Daleks have a concept of blasphemy?
Dalek Emperor: I reached into the dirt and made new life. I AM THE GOD OF ALL DALEKS!
All Daleks: WORSHIP HIM! WORSHIP HIM! WORSHIP HIM!
The Doctor: ...They're insane! Hiding in silence for hundreds of years, that's enough to drive anyone mad. But it's worse than that. Driven mad by your own flesh...the stink of humanity. You hate your own existence. And that makes them more deadly than ever.

Dalek Emperor: Purify the Earth with fire. The planet will become my temple and we shall rise. This will be our Paradise!

Dalek Emperor: Tell him the truth, Doctor. There is every possibility the Delta Wave could be complete, but no possibility of refining it. The Delta Wave must kill every living thing in its path, with no distinction between human and Dalek! All things will die. By your hand.
Jack: Doctor, the range of this transmitter covers the entire Earth.
Dalek Emperor: You would destroy Daleks and humans together. If I am God, the creator of all things, then what does that make you, Doctor?

The Doctor: Now you tell me, "God of all Daleks", because there's one thing I never worked out. The words "Bad Wolf", spread across time and space, everywhere, drawing me in. How'd you manage that?
Dalek Emperor: I did nothing.
The Doctor: Oh, come on, there's no secrets now, your worship--
Dalek Emperor: They are not part of my design! This is the Truth of God.

Emperor Dalek: [as the Daleks lay waste to Earth's continents] This is perfection. I have created Heaven on Earth.

[Captain Jack is cornered by a trio of Daleks]
Dalek #1: Exterminate!
Captain Jack: I kinda figured that.
[Captain Jack make a "come on!" gesture, and the Daleks exterminate him]

[The Daleks have cornered the Doctor after he finishes the Delta Wave]
The Doctor: You really wanna think about this. 'Cos if I activate this signal, every living creature dies.
Dalek Emperor: I am immortal.
The Doctor: Do you wanna put that to the test?
Dalek Emperor: I want to see you become like me. Hail, the Doctor, the Great Exterminator!
The Doctor: [angrily grasps the lever] I'LL DO IT!
Dalek Emperor: Then prove yourself, Doctor! What are you? Coward, or killer?
[The Doctor seems ready to push the lever down, but hesitates, then finally steps away]
The Doctor: Coward. Any day.
Dalek Emperor: Mankind will be harvested because of your weakness.
The Doctor: And what about me? Am I becoming one of your angels?
Dalek Emperor: You are the heathen. You will be exterminated!
The Doctor: Maybe it's time.

Dalek Emperor: You cannot hurt me! I am immortal!
Rose: (possessed by the power of the Time Vortex) You are tiny! I can see the whole of time and space... every single atom of your existence... and I divide them! (she starts destroying the Daleks, turning them into dust) Everything must come to dust. All things. Everything dies. The Time War ends.
Dalek Emperor: I will not die! I CANNOT DIE!
(Rose dissolves him with the power of the Vortex)

The Tenth Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by David Tennant

Army of Ghosts[edit]

Dalek Sec: Location: Earth. Lifeforms detected!
Daleks: [in unison] EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!

Doomsday[edit]

Which of you is least important?
Daleks: EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!--
Rose: DALEKS! [they immediately fall silent] You're called Daleks! I know your name. Think about it - how can I know that? A human who knows about the Daleks. And the Time War. If you wanna know how, then keep us alive, that's all I'm asking. Me and my friends.
Mickey: Yeah. Daleks, Time War - me too.
Dr. Rajesh Singh: [stretching the truth] Yeah, and me.
Dalek Sec: ... You will be necessary. [to Dalek Jast] Report. What is the status of the Genesis Ark?
Dalek Jast: Status: hibernation.
Dalek Sec: Commence awakening! The Genesis Ark must be protected above all else!

Dalek Sec: Which of you is least important?
Rose: What's that supposed to mean?
Dalek Sec: [angrier] Which of you is least important?!
Rose: No, we don't work like that. None of us.
Dalek Sec: Designate the least important!

[After the Daleks extract Dr. Rajesh Singh's brainwaves, killing him in the process]
Dalek Sec: His mind spoke of a second species invading Earth. Infected by the superstition of ghosts.
Rose: You didn't need to kill him!
Dalek Caan: Neither did we need him alive!
Dalek Sec: Dalek Thay, investigate outside.
Dalek Thay: I obey.

Dalek Thay: Halt! Identify yourselves!
Cyberman: You will identify first.
Dalek Thay: State your identity!
Cyberman: You will identify first.
Dalek Thay: IDENTIFY!
Mickey: [to Rose, bemused] It's like Stephen Hawking versus the Speaking Clock.
Cyberman: Aggression is wasteful and illogical, you will modify.
Dalek Thay: Daleks do not take orders!
Cyberman: You have identified as Daleks.
Dalek Sec: Outline resembles the inferior species known as "Cybermen"!

Cyberman: Our species are similar, though your design is inelegant.
Dalek Thay: Daleks have no concept of elegance!
Cyberman: This is obvious. But consider: our technologies are compatible. Cybermen plus Daleks - together, we could upgrade the universe.
Dalek Thay: You propose an alliance?
Cyberman: This is correct.
Dalek Thay: [pause] Request denied!
[The Cybermen raise their arms, guns out]
Cybermen: Hostile elements will be deleted! [they fire on Thay, in vain, because Thay's force field absorbs the blast]
Dalek Thay: EXTERMINATE! [zaps both Cybermen, they glow cyan and fall dead]

Cyber Leader: Daleks, be warned: you have declared war upon the Cybermen.
Dalek Sec: This is not war - this is pest control!
Cyber Leader: We have five million Cybermen. How many are you?
Dalek Sec: Four.
Cyber Leader: You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?
Dalek Sec: We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek! You are superior in only one respect.
Cyber Leader: What is that?
Dalek Sec: You are better at dying!

Dalek Thay: [isolating the Doctor on the viewscreen] This male registers as "enemy".
[Rose reacts with delight at seeing the Doctor.]
Dalek Sec: The female's heartbeat has increased.
Mickey: Yeah, tell me about it.
Dalek Sec: [to Rose] Identify him.
Rose: All right, then. If you really want to know,... that's the Doctor.
[All of the Daleks back away.]
Rose: Five million Cybermen, easy. One Doctor? Now you're scared.

Dalek Thay: Cyber threat irrelevant. Concentrate on the Genesis Ark.

Dalek Sec: [on the Genesis Ark] The technology is stolen. The Ark is not of Dalek design.
Rose: Then who built it?
Dalek Sec: The Time Lords! This is all that survives of their homeworld!
Rose: What's inside?
Dalek Sec: The future!

Dalek Jast: Final stage of awakening.
Dalek Sec: [to Rose] Your handprint will open the Ark.
Rose: Well tough, because I'm not doing it.
Dalek Sec: Obey, or the male will die!
Rose: [to Mickey] I can't let them.
Mickey: Rose, don't.
Dalek Sec: Place your hand upon the casket!
Rose: All right! You're going to kill us anyway, so what the hell? [turns back to Dalek Sec slyly] If you, err... escaped the Time War, don't you want to know what happened?
Dalek Sec: Place your hand on--
Rose: What happened to the Emperor?
Dalek Sec: [astonished] The Emperor... survived?
Rose: Till he met me. Because if these are going to be my last words, then you're going to listen. I met the Emperor, and I took the Time Vortex and I poured it into his head and turned him into dust. Do you get that? The God of all Daleks - and I destroyed him! [laughs]
Dalek Sec: [completely enraged] YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED!

Dalek Sec: Alert! Alert! You are the Doctor!
Dalek Jast: Sensors report he is unarmed.
The Doctor: That's me. Always.
Dalek Sec: Then you are powerless!
The Doctor: Not me! Never!

Dalek Sec: How did you survive the Time War?
The Doctor: By fighting. On the front line. I was there at the fall of Arcadia; someday I might even come to terms with that. [mocking] But you lot ran away!
Dalek Sec: We had to survive!
The Doctor: The last four Daleks in existence. So what's so special about you?
Rose: Doctor, they've got names. I mean, Daleks don't have names, do they? But one of them said--
Dalek Thay: I am Dalek Thay.
Dalek Sec: Dalek Sec.
Dalek Jast: Dalek Jast.
Dalek Caan: Dalek Caan.
The Doctor: So that's it! At last! The Cult of Skaro. I thought you were just a legend.
Rose: What are they?
The Doctor: A secret order! Above and beyond the Emperor himself! Their job was to imagine, think as the enemy thinks. Even dared to have names. [disgustedly] All to find new ways of killing!

Dalek Sec: Time Lord science will restore Dalek supremacy!
The Doctor: What does that mean? What sort of "Time Lord science", what do you mean?!
Rose: They said one touch from a time-traveler will wake it up.
The Doctor: Technology using the one thing a Dalek can't do - touch. [staring into Sec's eyestalk] Sealed inside your casing. Not feeling anything, ever. From birth to death, locked inside a cold metal cage, completely alone. That explains your voice. No wonder you scream.
Dalek Sec: [angrily] The Doctor will open the Ark!
The Doctor: [laughing] The Doctor will not.
Dalek Sec: You have no way of resisting.
The Doctor: Well... you got me there. Although... there is always this.
[The Doctor pulls out his sonic screwdriver]
Dalek Sec: A sonic probe?
The Doctor: [with a touch of machismo] That's 'screwdriver'!
Dalek Sec: It is harmless.
The Doctor: Oh, yes. Harmless is just the word. That's why I like it. Doesn't kill, doesn't wound, doesn't maim. But I'll tell you what it does do - it is very good at opening doors.
[The Doctor activates the screwdriver, and immediately the doors to the room explode open, allowing preachers and Cybermen to storm in and attack]

[As the Cybermen attack the Daleks]
Cybermen: Delete! Delete! [one blasts Dalek Thay]
Dalek Thay: Alert! Casing impaired! Casing impaired!
Dalek Sec: Firepower insufficient! Firepower insufficient!
Cybermen: Daleks will be deleted! Delete! Delete!
Dalek Jast: Adapt to weaponry!
Dalek Sec: Firepower restored! Cybermen primary target!

Dalek Sec: Cybermen have been exterminated! Daleks are supreme!
Dalek Jast: The Genesis Ark is primed!
Dalek Sec: The Ark needs an area of thirteen square miles. Move!
Dalek Jast: Genesis Ark mobile!

Dalek Sec: (slams open doors to Torchwood Warehouse 1) EXTERMINATE!
Cybermen Platoon: DELETE!
Cult of Skaro: EXTERMINATE!
Cybermen: DELETE! DELETE!
Torchwood Security: Open fire!
[A really big firefight begins]

Dalek Sec: The Ark will open! [millions of Daleks emerge]

Dalek Sec: Exterminate all lifeforms below! EXTERMINATE!

Dalek Sec: Breach active! It is the Doctor! EXTERMINATE HIM!
Dalek Squad: WE OBEY!

Dalek Sec: Emergency temporal shift! [is transported away]

Daleks in Manhattan[edit]

Dalek Caan: I have been summoned! Explain! EXPLAIN!
Foreman: It can talk! How does it talk? (looking at the two pig-slaves) And what the hell are they?! You got to be kidding me...!
Diagoras: I'm sorry, my lord, but this man is refusing to complete the work.
Dalek Caan: Then we must replace him.
Foreman: Is anybody going to tell me what the hell is happening here?!
Dalek Caan: (to the pig-slaves) Use him. Take him for the Final Experiment. (they drag the protesting Foreman into the lift) The Empire State Building must be completed in time.
Diagoras: It will be. Trust me. Labour is cheap, and that man can be replaced.
Dalek Caan: The plan must not fail. We calculate the gamma strike has accelerated. We need more bodies immediately!
Diagoras: Yes, master.

Dalek Caan: The conductor must be complete for our plan to succeed!
Diagoras: Unemployment is such an incentive. It'll get done, don't worry.
Dalek Caan: Daleks have not concept of worry.
Diagoras: Yeah? Well. Lucky you.
Dalek Caan: (gazing out over New York) This day is ending. Humankind is weak; you shelter from the dark. And yet, you have built all this.
Diagoras: That's progress. You gotta move with the times, or you get left behind.
Dalek Caan: My planet is gone. Destroyed in a great war. Yet versions of this city stand throughout history. The human race always continues.
Diagoras: We've had wars. I've been a soldier myself. And I swore then I'd survive, no matter what.
Dalek Caan: You have rare ambition.
Diagoras: I'm gonna run this city, whatever it takes. By any means necessary.
Dalek Caan: You think like a Dalek.
Diagoras: I'll take that as a compliment.
[In their laboratory, the rest of the Cult of Skaro has been observing through a visual link]
Dalek Sec: This human is our best option. Bring him to me.
Dalek Caan: (to Diagoras) Your loyalty will be rewarded. Come with me.
Dalek Sec: (back in the lab) Prepare the laboratory. The Final Experiment will begin.
Daleks Thay and Jast: We obey!

Diagoras: So, where we going?
Dalek Caan: You have been summoned by our leader.
Diagoras: (leans around Caan's flank to speak directly into his eyestalk) 'Bout time too.

Dalek Caan: (to Sec) I bring you the human.
Diagoras: I take it you're in charge?
Dalek Sec: Correct. I am Dalek Sec, leader of the Cult of Skaro.
Diagoras: Then, my lord Sec... I am honored to meet you. Ever since you first made contact with me, transmitting your thoughts into the corners of my mind. Tempting me with such images, such ideas... Oh, sir, I'd always dreamt that--
Dalek Sec: Cease talking.
Diagoras: I just wanted you to know how grateful I am--
Dalek Sec: I said CEASE! Slaves, secure the human!

Dalek Jast: The chromatin solution is ready.
Dalek Sec: Then our preparations are complete.
Diagoras: (restrained by pig-slaves) What are you doing? Preparations for what?
Dalek Sec: This is the Final Experiment.
Diagoras: What do you mean? D'you mean, like these pig-men things? (scared) You're not gonna turn me into one of those?! Oh God, please, don't--
Dalek Sec: The pig-slaves are primitive. The final experiment is greater by far.
Diagoras: But how does that involve me?!
Dalek Sec: We need your flesh. Bring him to me!
Dalek Thay: (gets in the way) Halt! This action contradicts the Dalek imperative.
Dalek Jast: Daleks are supreme! Humans are weak!
Dalek Sec: But there are millions of humans and only four of us. If we are supreme, why are we not victorious?
(Thay and Jast look at each other; neither can answer)
Dalek Sec: The Cult of Skaro was created by the Emperor for this very purpose - to imagine new ways of survival!
Dalek Thay: But we must remain pure!
Dalek Sec: No, Dalek Thay. Our "purity" has brought us to extinction! We must adapt to survive.
(Dalek Thay is shown to have had some of his Dalekanium panels removed and replaced with steel)
Dalek Sec: You have all made sacrifices, and now I will sacrifice myself. For the greater cause. For the future of Dalek-kind. Now BRING ME THE HUMAN!
Diagoras: (is dragged forwards) I don't understand! What do you mean?! Get off me!
Dalek Sec: Behold - the true Dalek form. (casing opens, revealing the creature inside) Now... join with me!
Diagoras: (struggling in terror) No! Get off me! I did everything you asked of me! NO!
(Sec envelops him in his tentacles and encases him in a stomach-like pouch; he is pulled inside the casing and it closes)

Dalek Thay: Stop the process! Dalek Sec is failing!
Dalek Sec: (heavily distorted voice) No... The experiment must continue... Administer the solution! (as Dalek Jast injects the chromatin) We must evolve! Evolve! EVOLVE!

Dalek Caan: Silence! Silence! You will form a line. Move. Move!
Martha: Just do what it says, everyone, okay? Just obey.
Dalek Caan: The female is wise. Obey!
Dalek Thay: Report!
Dalek Caan: These are strong specimens. They will help the Dalek cause. What is the status of the Final Experiment?
Dalek Thay: The Dalekanium is in place. The energy conductor is now complete.
Dalek Caan: Then I will extract prisoners for selection. (holds his sucker arm towards a man's face) Intelligence scan initiate... reading brainwaves... Low intelligence.
Man: (offended) You calling me stupid?
Dalek Caan: Silence! This one will become a pig-slave. Next!

Dalek Caan: (scanning Martha) Intelligence scan, initiate... Superior intelligence. This one will become part of the Final Experiment.
Martha: You can't experiment on people! It's insane, it's inhuman!
Dalek Caan: We are not human!

Dalek Caan: Report.
Dalek Jast: Dalek Sec is entering the final stage of evolution.
Dalek Caan: Scan him. Prepare for birth.

Dalek Caan: You will bear witness.
Martha: To what?
Dalek Caan: This is the dawn of a new age
Martha: What does that mean?
Dalek Caan: We are the only four Daleks in existence. So the species must evolve; a life outside the shell. The children of Skaro must walk again!

Hybrid Sec : I.... am.... a human.... Dalek! I.... am your future!

Evolution of the Daleks[edit]

Hybrid Sec: These humans will become like me. Prepare them for hybridisation.

Hybrid Sec: Doctor!
Dalek Thay: The enemy of the Daleks!
Dalek Jast: Exterminate!
Hybrid Sec: Wait!
The Doctor: Well, then! A new form of Dalek. Fascinating... and very clever.
Hybrid Sec: (hatefully) The Cult of Skaro escaped your slaughter!
The Doctor: How did you end up in 1930?
Hybrid Sec: Emergency temporal shift.
The Doctor: Oh! That must have roasted up your power cells, eh? Time was, four Daleks could have conquered the world! But instead, you're skulking away, hidden in the dark, experimenting... all of which results in you.
Hybrid Sec: I am Dalek in human form!
The Doctor: What does it feel like? You can talk to me, Dalek Sec - it is Dalek Sec, isn't it? That's your name. You've got a name, and a mind of your own. Tell me what you're thinking right now.
Hybrid Sec: I... feel... humanity.
The Doctor: (nodding) Good, that's good.
Hybrid Sec: I feel... everything we wanted from mankind, which is... ambition, hatred, aggression and war... such a genius for war.
The Doctor: No. That's not what humanity means--
Hybrid Sec: I think it does! At heart, this species is so very... Dalek!

Dalek Thay: Protect the Hybrid!
Daleks: PROTECT! PROTECT! PROTECT!
Dalek Caan: Report status.
Hybrid Sec: Pain... pain of the flesh. Like no Dalek has felt for thousands of years.
Dalek Caan: The Doctor has escaped.
Hybrid Sec: Then find him! Find him!
Dalek Caan: [to the pig-slaves] Find the Doctor! The prisoners must be recaptured!

Dalek Caan: They have ascended. (to pig-slaves) Return to base. (turns to Jast secretively) Request information: What is your opinion of Dalek Sec?
Dalek Jast: We were created to follow him.
Dalek Caan: But you have... doubts?
[Dalek Jast looks around, checking they are alone]
Dalek Jast: Affirmative.

Dalek Caan: I will be the destroyer of our greatest enemy!

Dalek Thay: You saved the Doctor. Why?
Hybrid Sec: He's a genius, and we can use him. The future of the Daleks might well depend upon the Doctor.

[On Sec's plan to "humanize" the Daleks]
The Doctor: Hold on a minute, there's no way this lot [points to the other Daleks] are gonna let you do that.
Hybrid Sec: I am their leader.
The Doctor: [to other Daleks] Oh, and that's enough for you, is it?
Dalek Jast: Daleks must follow orders.
Dalek Thay: Dalek Sec commands, we obey.

[Warning klaxons blare]
Hybrid Sec: Is there a malfunction?
[Daleks ignore Sec]
Hybrid Sec: Answer me!
The Doctor: (examines control readouts) Oh no, no, no, the gene feed! They're overriding the gene feed!
Hybrid Sec: Impossible! They cannot disobey orders!
Dalek Jast: (aims weapon at Doctor) The Doctor will STEP AWAY from the controls!
Hybrid Sec: STOP! You will not fire!
Dalek Caan: (moves forward) He is an enemy of the Daleks - and so are you! (aims weapon at Sec)
Hybrid Sec: I am your commander! I am Dalek Sec!
Dalek Caan: You have lost your authority!
Dalek Thay: (almost sadly) You are no longer a Dalek.
The Doctor: What have you done with the gene feed?!
Dalek Jast: The new bodies will be 100% Dalek!
Hybrid Sec: No! You can't do this!
Dalek Caan: Pig-slaves, restrain Dalek Sec and the Doctor.
Hybrid Sec: [grabbed by the slaves] Release me! I created you! I am your master!
Dalek Jast: Solar flare approaching!
Dalek Caan: Prepare to intercept!

Hybrid Sec: You... have... betrayed me!
Dalek Caan: You told us to "imagine"... and we "imagined" your irrelevance.

Dalek Caan: Confirm time until solar intercept.
Dalek Thay: Gamma strike four minutes and counting.

Dalek Caan: The army awakes!

Dalek Caan: You will identify.
Dalek-Human: I... am... a Dalek.
Dalek Caan: Excellent!
Dalek Thay: Begin the invasion of Manhattan. The population will be converted into Daleks.
Dalek Jast: And from this island, we will conquer the world!
Dalek Caan: Assume battle positions! Take arms!

Dalek Caan: War demands strategy. I am designated Controller.
Hybrid Sec: [enraged] That was to be my position!
Dalek Thay: You are unfit.
Dalek Caan: Connect me to the military computer. I will coordinate all units.

Dalek Thay: Report status.
Dalek Caan: Maximum efficiency! I am now ready for full-scale war!
Dalek Thay: Control over Dalek-Humans?
Dalek Caan: Connection confirmed. All soldiers will take heed! Weapons will be primed!

Dalek Caan: Sonic device detected!
Dalek Thay: The Doctor survived?!
Dalek Jast: Find him and exterminate!

Dalek Thay: The Doctor will stand before the Daleks! You will die, Doctor - at the beginning of a new age.
Dalek Jast: Planet Earth will become New Skaro!
The Doctor: [scornfully] And what a world! With anything just the slightest bit different ground into the dirt! That's Dalek Sec! Don't you remember? The cleverest Dalek ever, and look what you've done to him! Is that your new Empire? Hmm? Is that the foundation for a whole new civilization?
Hybrid Sec: My Daleks... just understand this: If you choose death and destruction, then death and destruction will choose you.
Dalek Thay: Incorrect! We always survive!
Dalek Jast: Now we will destroy our greatest enemy - the Doctor!
Dalek Sec Hybrid: But he can help you!
Dalek Thay: The Doctor must die!
Hybrid Sec: No! I beg you, don't--
Dalek Thay: EXTERMINATE!
[Thay fires at the Doctor, but Sec gets in the way and is killed]

Dalek Thay: If they will not obey, then they must die! (exterminates Dalek-Human squad leader; Dalek-Humans return fire)
Daleks Thay and Jast: EXTERMINATE!
Dalek Caan: Destroy the hybrids! Destroy!

Dalek Caan: The Dalek-Humans are failures! Destruct! Destruct! DESTRUCT!

The Doctor: Now what?
Dalek Caan: You will be exterminated--
The Doctor: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! Just think about it, Dalek-- What was your name?
Dalek Caan: Dalek Caan.
The Doctor: Dalek Caan. Your entire species has been wiped out. And now the Cult of Skaro has been eradicated. Leaving only you. Right now, you're facing the only man in the universe who might show you some compassion. 'Cause I've just seen one genocide. I won't cause another. Caan... Let me help you. What do you say?
Dalek Caan: ... Emergency Temporal Shift!

The Stolen Earth[edit]

First Dalek: Dalek Fleet in battle formation.
Second Dalek: All systems locked and primed.
Third Dalek: Crucible at 90 percent efficiency.
Fourth Dalek: The human harvest will commence!

Dalek: Supreme Dalek on the bridge!
Supreme Dalek: [emerges through a large door] Soon the Crucible will be complete. We have waited long for this ultimate destiny. Now the Daleks are the masters of Earth!
Multitude of Daleks: DALEKS ARE THE MASTERS OF EARTH! DALEKS ARE THE MASTERS OF EARTH!

Daleks: UNIT forces will be exterminated! Annihilate UNIT! EXTERMINATE!

Davros: [hidden in shadow] Supreme Dalek, is there news?
Supreme Dalek: Earth has been subjugated.
Davros: I mean, is there news of him?
Supreme Dalek: Negative. No reports of Time Lord. We are beyond the Doctor's reach.
Davros: Fascinating. If I had not elevated you beyond crude emotions, I could almost mistake that tone for one of victory. Beware your pride.
Supreme Dalek: The Doctor cannot stop us!
Davros: And yet, Dalek Caan is uneasy. [activates the lights, revealing Caan]
Supreme Dalek: [disgusted] The Abomination is insane!
Davros: Show respect! Without Dalek Caan, none of this would be possible. And he speaks only the truth...
Dalek Caan: He is coming. The threefold man, he dances in the lonely places, oh creator of us all. The Doctor is coming! [maniacal laughter]

Dalek Caan: I flew into the wild and fire! I danced and died a thousand times!

Dalek: Halt! You will come with me.
Wilfred Mott: Will I heck! [fires a paintball on the Dalek's eyestalk]
Dalek: [evaporates the paint] My vision is not impaired!
Sylvia: I warned you, dad!
Dalek: Hostility will not be tolerated! Exterminate! Exterminate!

Dalek: Emergency! Unknown network detected. Subwave frequency.
Supreme Dalek: Find the point of origin! Find and exterminate!
Davros: I warned you, Supreme One! Just as Dalek Caan foretold. The Children of Time are moving against us... but everything is falling into place.

Dalek Caan: He is here. The Dark Lord is come!
Davros: Supreme One, the Subwave Network. I will address it. Give me access.

Davros: [to the Doctor] Your voice is different, and yet, its arrogance is unchanged.
Sarah Jane: [a look of fear on her face] No... but he's dead!

Davros: Welcome to my new empire, Doctor. It is only fitting that you should bear witness to the resurrection, and the triumph, of Davros, Lord and Creator of the Dalek race.

The Doctor: But you were destroyed. In the very first year of the Time War, at the Gates of Elysium. I saw your command ship fly into the jaws of the Nightmare Child. I tried to save you.
Davros: But it took one stronger than you - Dalek Caan himself.
Dalek Caan: I flew into the wild and fire! I danced and died a thousand times...!
Davros: Emergency Temporal Shift took him back into the Time War itself.
The Doctor: But that's impossible, the entire War is time locked!
Davros: And yet he succeeded. Oh, it cost him his mind, but imagine: a single, simple Dalek succeeded where Emperors and Time Lords have failed! A testament, don't you think, to my remarkable creations?
The Doctor: And you made a new race of Daleks...
Davros: I gave myself to them - quite literally. Each one grown from a cell of my own body. [he opens his tunic to reveal his chest - now reduced to strips of flesh hanging from his ribs] New Daleks. True Daleks. I have my children, Doctor. What do you have, now?

Supreme Dalek: Emergency! Locate the TARDIS! Find the Doctor!
Davros: [contemptuous] He will go to the Earth, to find his precious human allies.
Dalek Caan: And death is coming. Oh, I can SEE it! Everlasting death for the most-faithful companion!

Dalek: Subwave Network rerouted. New location: Torchwood.
Supreme Dalek: Then exterminate them! At once! Exterminate Torchwood!

Dalek: The Daleks reign supreme! All hail the Daleks!

Harriet Jones: Harriet Jones, former Prime Minister.
Dalek: [slightly annoyed] Yes. We know who you are.

Dalek: All humans will leave their homes. The males, the females, the descendants.
Man: Where are you taking us?
Dalek: Daleks do not answer human questions. Stand in line.

[Two Daleks catch Sarah Jane driving]
Dalek: All human transport is forbidden!
Sarah Jane: I surrender! I'm sorry!
Dalek: Daleks do not accept apologies! You will be exterminated!
Daleks: Exterminate! Exterminate!

Journey's End[edit]

Supreme Dalek: Behold, Doctor! Behold the might of the true Dalek race!

Supreme Dalek: [about the Doctor and Rose] Escort them to the Vault. They are the playthings of Davros now.

Davros: Activate the holding cells. [the Doctor and Rose are imprisoned] Excellent! Even when powerless, a Time Lord is best contained.
The Doctor: [coldly] Still scared of me?
Davros: It is time we talked, Doctor, after so very long...
The Doctor: No, no, no, no, no, we're not doing the nostalgia tour; I wanna know what's happening right here, right now! Cos the Supreme Dalek said "Vault", as in dungeon, cellar, prison...you're not in charge of the Daleks, are you? They've got you locked away down here in the basement like a what? Servant? Slave? Court jester?
Davros: [evasively] We have... [pause]...an arrangement.
The Doctor: [amused] No, no, no, no, no! I've got the word; you're the Daleks' pet!
[Davros turns away from the Doctor to face Rose]
Davros: So very full of fire, is he not?! [contemptuous] And to think, you crossed entire universes, striding parallel to parallel to find him again!
The Doctor: [angrily] Leave her alone!
Davros: [smugly] She is mine, to do as I please.
Rose: Then why am I still alive?
Davros: You must be here; it was foretold. Even the Supreme Dalek would not dare to contradict the prophecies of Dalek Caan. [Davros turns on the lights, revealing Caan]
Dalek Caan: So cold and dark...fire is coming; the endless flames!
Rose: [disgusted] What is that thing?
The Doctor: You've met before. The last of the Cult of Skaro. But it flew into the Time War, unprotected.
Davros: Caan did more than that; he saw Time! Its infinite complexity and majesty raging through his mind, and... he saw you. Both of you.
Dalek Caan: This I have forseen, in the wild and the wind; the Doctor will be here as witness at the end of everything! The Doctor and his precious Children of Time! [giggles madly] And one of them will die!
The Doctor: [furious] Was it you, Caan?! Did you kill Donna?! Why did the TARDIS door close?! TELL ME!
Davros: [with cruel glee] Oh, that's it! The anger! The fire! The rage of a Time Lord who BUTCHERED MILLIONS! There he is! Why so shy? Show your companion. Show her your true self. Dalek Caan has promised me that too!
Dalek Caan: I have seen, at the time of ending, the Doctor's soul will be revealed!
The Doctor: [unnerved] What does that mean?
Davros: We will discover it together. Our final journey. Because the ending approaches; the testing begins.
The Doctor: Testing of what?
Davros: The Reality Bomb.

Davros: Behold, the apotheosis of my genius!

[After the test firing of the Reality Bomb]
Rose: Doctor, what happened?
Davros: Electrical energy, Miss Tyler. Every atom in existence is bound by an electrical field; the Reality Bomb cancels it out. Structure falls apart. That test was focused on the prisoners alone; full transmission will dissolve every form of matter.
Rose: The stars are going out...!
The Doctor: [horrified] The 27 planets, they become one vast transmitter, blasting that wavelength--
Davros: Across the entire universe! Never stopping, never faltering, never fading. People and planets and stars will become dust! And the dust will become atoms, and the atoms will become...nothing. And the wavelength will continue, breaking through the rift at the heart of the Medusa Cascade into every dimension, every parallel, every single corner of creation! This is my ultimate victory, Doctor! THE DESTRUCTION OF REALITY ITSELF!

Supreme Dalek: Prepare for universal detonation! The Fleet will gather at the Crucible! All Daleks will return to shelter from the cataclysm! We will become the only lifeforms IN EXISTENCE!

[After Martha arrives in Germany]
Squad of Daleks: Exterminieren! Exterminieren! Halt! Sonst werden wir Sie exterminieren! Sie sind jetzt ein Gefangener der Daleks! (Exterminate! Exterminate! Stop! Otherwise we will exterminate you! You are now a prisoner of the Daleks!)

Davros: And so the prophecy unfolds.
Dalek Caan: The Doctor's soul is revealed! [laughs] See him! See the heart of him!
Davros: The man who abhors violence, never carrying a gun. But this is the truth, Doctor. You take ordinary people, and you fashion them into weapons. Behold your Children of Time transformed into murderers! I made the Daleks, Doctor; you made this.
The Doctor: [weakly] They're trying to help--
Davros: Already I have seen them sacrifice today for their beloved Doctor. The Earth woman who fell opening the Subwave Network.
The Doctor: Who was that?
Rose: Harriet Jones. She gave her life to get you here.
Davros: How many more? Just think - how many have died in your name?
[The Doctor, shaken and saddened to the core, remembers various people who did so throughout his adventures]
Davros: The Doctor. The man who keeps running, never looking back because he dare not... out of shame. This is my final victory, Doctor: I have shown you... yourself.

Davros: The final prophecy is in place. The Doctor and his Children, all gathered as witnesses. Supreme Dalek, the time has come! Now... DETONATE THE REALITY BOMB!
Supreme Dalek: Activate planetary alignment field! Universal reality detonation in 200 rels!
The Doctor: You can't, Davros! Just listen to me! Just STOP!
Davros: [laughs in utter insanity] NOTHING CAN STOP THE DETONATION! NOTHING, AND NO ONE!!

Davros: Stand witness, Time Lord. Stand witness, humans. Your strategies have failed, your weapons are useless, and... oh, the end of the universe has come!

Davros: I was wrong about your warriors, Doctor. They are pathetic!

[As the "DoctorDonna" has a ball with the controls, ruining Davros' plan]
Davros: STOP THIS AT ONCE! YOU WILL DESIST--
Mickey: [aims his gun at him] Just stay where you are, mister!

Davros: But you promised me, Dalek Caan! Why did you not foresee this?!
[Dalek Caan cackles maniacally]
The Doctor: Oh, I think he did. Something's been manipulating the timelines for ages, getting Donna Noble to the right place at the right time!
Dalek Caan: This would always have happened. I only helped, Doctor!
Davros: [shocked and outraged] You betrayed the Daleks!
Dalek Caan: I saw the Daleks! What we have done, throughout time and space! I saw the truth of us, Creator, and I decreed "No more!"

Supreme Dalek: I will descend to the Vault!
Jack Harkness: HEADS UP!
Supreme Dalek: DAVROS, YOU HAVE BETRAYED US!
Davros: [terrified] It was Dalek Caan!
Supreme Dalek: The Vault will be purged! You will all be EXTERMINATED!

Dalek Caan: [to the metacrisis Doctor] The prophecy must complete!
Davros: Don't listen to him!
Dalek Caan: I have seen the end of everything Dalek - and you must make it happen, Doctor!

The Doctor: Davros! Come with me! I promise I can save you!
Davros: Never forget, Doctor: YOU DID THIS! I NAME YOU FOREVER: YOU ARE THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS!! [screams in fury as he vanishes in the flames]
Dalek Caan: One will still die.

The Eleventh Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by Matt Smith

"Victory of the Daleks"[edit]

Would you care for some tea?
Ironside/Dalek: I am your soldier!

Bracewell: And what is your ultimate aim?
Ironside/Dalek: To win the war!

Ironside/Dalek: [approaches Bracewell in his laboratory] Would you care for some tea?
Bracewell: That would be nice, thank you.

[The Doctor strikes the Dalek with a large wrench]
Ironside/Dalek: You do not require tea?

Ironside/Dalek: We seek only to help you.
The Doctor: To do what?
Ironside/Dalek: To win the war.
Ironside/The Doctor: Really? Which war?
Ironside/Dalek: I do not understand.
The Doctor: This war against the Nazis or your war against the rest of the universe? The war against all lifeforms that are not Dalek?
Ironside/Dalek: I do not understand. I am your soldier.

The Doctor: You hate me! You want to kill me! Well, go on! Kill me! Kill me!
Amy: Doctor, be careful!
Ironside/Dalek: Please desist from striking me. I am your soldier.
The Doctor: [He accentuates each word by hitting the Dalek each time] You — are — my — enemy — and I am yours! You are everything I despise. The worst thing in all creation. I've defeated you. Time and time again, I've defeated you. I sent you back into the Void. I saved the whole of reality from you. I am the Doctor, and you are the Daleks!
[He kicks the Dalek backwards], [pause]
Ironside/Dalek: [beat] Correct.

Ironside Dalek: We picked up a trace. One of the Progenitor devices.
The Doctor: [Carelessly and quickly] Progenitor? What's that when it's at home?
Ironside Dalek: It is our past, and our future. [The Progenitor chamber behind the Daleks is surreptitiously filling with white smoke at this time]
The Doctor: [Astounded] Ooh. That's deep. That is deep for a Dalek. What does it mean, though?
Bronze Dalek: It contains pure Dalek DNA. Thousands were created. [Shot of the Progenitor; the LEDs on the sides are flashing upwards very fast] All were lost, save one.
The Doctor: OK, but there's still one thing I don't get, though. If you've got the Progenitor, why build Bracewell?
Ironside Dalek: It was...necessary.
The Doctor: [A little annoyed] But why?

[pause] [The Doctor realises what everything means.]

The Doctor: [Quietly] I get it. [Louder] Oh, I get it! I get it! [He exclaims loudly; now speaking with a sense of joy and wonder in his voice] This is rich! The Progenitor wouldn't recognise you, would it?! [Another shot of the Progenitor; the flashing upwards has become more intense and fast] It saw you as impure! And your DNA is unrecognisable as Dalek.
Ironside Dalek: A solution was devised.
The Doctor: [Knowing what it was: using him to activate the Progenitor; impatiently] Yes, yes, yes. [Stalking off to the side] Me. My testimony. So you set a trap! You knew that the Progenitor would recognise me, the Daleks' greatest enemy. [The Ironside Dalek glides off to the side, to examine a computer and activates a function with its plunger] It would recognise my word. MY recognition of you. [Sees what the Ironside Dalek is doing, realises it is bad, and takes what looks like a red button in a circular remote out of his jacket pocket] No. No, no. [Fearful but not showing it] What are you doing?
Bronze Dalek: Withdraw now, Doctor, or the city dies in flames! [The Progenitor chamber is still filling with white smoke; the back wall of it is now flashing blue, before the light solidifies]
The Doctor: Who are you kidding? This ship IS A WRECK! You don't have the power to destroy London.
Ironside Dalek: Watch, as the humans destroy themselves! [The Doctor looks incredibly fearful]

[The outside of the Dalek saucer deploys a satellite dish with five transponder rods on the sides. It powers up and launches a short-length stream of power at the continent of Europe.]

The Doctor: [Slowly, quietly and angrily; the Daleks' satellite dish has somehow permanently turned on all the lights in London, exposing the darkened city to the Luftwaffe] Turn those lights off, now! Turn London off or I SWEAR, I WILL USE THE TARDIS SELF-DESTRUCT! [He shows the red button.]
Ironside Dalek: Stalemate, Doctor! Leave us, and return to Earth!
The Doctor: [Disappointed] Oh, that's it? That's your great victory? You leave?
Ironside Dalek: Extinction is not an option. [The doors on the Progenitor chamber surreptitiously slide shut at this time] We will return to our own time and begin again!
The Doctor: [Angrily] No. No! I won't let you get away this time, I WON'T!

[The Progenitor powers up.]

Ironside Dalek: We have succeeded! [The three Daleks glide off to the sides] DNA reconstruction is complete! [The Progenitor chamber starts glowing red, and red energy dances across the uprights, and across the white sections on the doors, before it becomes a brilliant white. The doors slide open, sparks flying and revealing the chamber is completely filled with brilliant thick white smoke]
Ironside Dalek: Observe, Doctor, a new Dalek Paradigm!

[The lights flash, and something glides out of the white smoke, straight forward, stopping in front of the Doctor. It is a new Dalek, in a taller, wider, white-coloured casing (Supreme Paradigm Dalek), with an orange-yellow eye. Another Dalek in a casing of similar design, except in a blue-coloured casing (Strategist Paradigm Dalek) glides out, appearing from the left of the Supreme and slightly behind. The Doctor looks fearful, staring into the Supreme's eye, which is organic-looking, with an oblong-shaped pupil. A third Dalek, in an orange-coloured casing (Scientist Paradigm Dalek) glides out of the Progenitor chamber, taking place on the right of the Supreme, at the same level as the Strategist. A fourth Dalek, with a yellow casing and black globes (Eternal Paradigm Dalek) glides out and takes position on the other side of the Strategist, quickly followed by a fifth Dalek, this one with a red-coloured casing (Drone Paradigm Dalek), gliding up to the other side of the Scientist. The new Dalek Paradigm has been assembled. The lights are still flashing in the background.]

Ironside Dalek: The Progenitor has fulfilled our new destiny! Behold - the restoration of the Daleks! The resurrection of the master race!

Ironside Dalek: All hail the new Daleks!
All three Ironside/Bronze Daleks: All hail the new Daleks!
Supreme Paradigm Dalek [Eyeing up one of the Ironside Daleks and the Bronze Dalek, as are all the new Daleks, both of whom are on the Supreme's left]: Yes... You are inferior.
Ironside Dalek: ... Yes.
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Then prepare!
All three Ironside/Bronze Daleks: We are ready!

[The Strategist Paradigm Dalek turns round, gun aimed at the two old Daleks.]

Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Cleanse the unclean! Total obliteration! Disintegrate!

[The Strategist Paradigm Dalek aims gun at the Ironside Dalek and fires, resulting in disintegration of the Dalek. The gun is fired again, this time at the Bronze Dalek, to the same effect.] [The Doctor watches in horror, and turns to his left, to see the Drone Paradigm Dalek turn right and disintegrate the other Ironside Dalek.]

The Doctor: [As the Supreme Paradigm Dalek eyeballs him] Blimey. What do you do to the ones that mess up? [The Supreme Paradigm Dalek glides up to him]
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: You are the DOCTOR! You must be EXTERMINATED!
The Doctor: [Raises his arm to the Supreme Paradigm Dalek's eye, button still in hand; smugly] Don't mess with me, sweetheart.

The Doctor: Question is, what do we do now? Either you turn off your clever machine, or I'll blow you and your "new paradigm" into eternity.
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: And yourself.
The Doctor: Occupational hazard.
Strategist Paradigm Dalek: Scan reveals nothing. TARDIS self-destruct device non-existent.
The Doctor: [giving up] All right, it's a Jammy Dodger. But I was promised tea!

Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Doctor, call off your attack!
The Doctor: [chuckles mirthlessly] What, and let you scuttle off back to the future? No, this is the end for you, the final end--
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Call off the attack, or we will destroy the Earth!
The Doctor: I'm not stupid, mate, you've just played your last card!
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Bracewell is a bomb.
The Doctor: You're bluffing. Deception's second nature to you. There isn't a sincere bone in your body; there isn't a bone in your body.
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: His power is derived from an Oblivion Continuum. Call off your attack, or we will detonate the android!
The Doctor: [in angry denial] No! This is my best chance ever! The last of the Daleks - I can rid the whole universe of you once and for all!
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Then do it! But we will shatter the planet below. The Earth will die screaming!
The Doctor: Yeah, and if I let you go... you'll be stronger than ever. A new race of Daleks...
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Then choose, Doctor! Destroy the Daleks, or save the Earth!

Supreme Paradigm Dalek: The Doctor has failed! His compassion is his greatest weakness. Daleks have no such weakness!

Supreme Paradigm Dalek: You will never defeat us, Doctor! We will return!
All Paradigm Daleks: WE WILL RETURN!

"The Pandorica Opens"[edit]

Supreme Paradigm Dalek: You have been scanned. Assessed. Understood... Doctor.

Supreme Paradigm Dalek: The cracks in time are the work of the Doctor! It is confirmed!
The Doctor: No, no, no, not me, the TARDIS! And I'm not in the TARDIS, am I?
Dalek Paradigm Supreme: Only the Doctor could pilot the TARDIS.
The Doctor: Please! Listen to me!
Dalek Paradigm Supreme: You will be prevented!

"The Big Bang"[edit]

Dalek: You will be exterminated!
River Song: Not yet. Your systems are still restoring, which means your shield density is compromised. One alpha-meson burst through your eye-stalk would kill you stone dead.
Dalek: Records indicate you will show mercy. You are an associate of the Doctor.
River Song: I'm River Song. Check your records again. [aims for the eye-stalk]
Dalek: ... Mercy?
River Song: Say it again?
Dalek: Mercy!
River Song: One more time.
Dalek: MERCYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
[Cut to River rejoining Amy and Rory]
Amy: Where's the Dalek?
River: [coldly] It died.

"The Wedding of River Song"[edit]

[As the Doctor removes its headpiece to scan its data core for information on the Silence]
Dalek: Emergency! Emergency! Weapon system disabled! Emergency protocols have been breached! Emergency! Emergency! Emergency...!

Asylum of the Daleks[edit]

You will save the Daleks!
Dalek Prime Minister: Save us. You will save us.
The Doctor: [utterly surprised] What?
Dalek Prime Minister: You will save the Daleks!
Daleks: Save the Daleks! Save the Daleks! SAVE THE DALEKS! SAVE THE DALEKS!
The Doctor: Well! This is new.

Dalek Prime Minister: What do you know of the Dalek Asylum?
The Doctor: According to legend, you have a dumping ground. A planet where you lock up all the Daleks that go wrong. The battle-scarred, the insane, the ones even you can't control. Which never made any sense to me...
Dalek Prime Minister: Why not?
The Doctor: Because you'd just kill them!
Dalek Prime Minister: It is offensive to us to extinguish such divine hatred.
The Doctor: [stunned] Offensive?!
Dalek Prime Minister: Does it surprise you to know the Daleks have a concept of beauty?
The Doctor: [disgusted] I thought you'd run out of ways to make me sick, but hello again! You think hatred is beautiful...
Dalek Prime Minister: Perhaps that is why we have never been able to kill you.

[The Doctor has been chatting to Oswin Oswald over the speakers]
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: This conversation is irrelevant!
The Doctor: No - it - isn't! Because a starliner has crashed into your Asylum, and someone's got in. And if someone can get in, then everything can get out! A tsunami of insane Daleks! Even you don't want that!
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: The Asylum must be cleansed!
The Doctor: Then why is it still here? You've enough firepower on this ship to blast it out of the sky.
Darla (Dalek Puppet): The Asylum force-field is impenetrable.
The Doctor: Then turn it off.
Darla: It can only be turned off from within the Asylum.
The Doctor: A small taskforce could sneak through a force-field. Send in a couple of Daleks. [none of the Daleks reply] Oh. [claps] Oh. Oh, that's good, that's brilliant. You're all too scared to go down there. Not one of you will go, so tell me - what do the Daleks do when they're too scared?
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: The Predator of the Daleks will be deployed.
The Doctor: You don't have a "Predator", and even if you did, why would they turn off a force-field for you?
Dalek Prime Minister: Because you will have no other means of escape!
Darla: May I clarify? The "Predator" is the Daleks' word for you.
The Doctor: Me? Me?!

The Doctor: (about Amy and Rory) What do you want with them?
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: It is known that the Doctor requires companions.
Rory: (dryly) Oh, brilliant. Good-oh.

Asylum Dalek: E-E-E-E-E-E-E-Ex...
Rory: What? S-sorry, what?
Asylum Dalek: E-E-E-E-Ex...
Rory: Eggs? [indicating spheres missing from Dalek casing] You mean those things?
Asylum Dalek: Ex...!
Rory: I don't... I don't know what you want. Er... Those things, are those things eggs? This? You want this?
Asylum Dalek: Ex....ter...min...nate...

The Doctor: Identify me! Access your files. Who am I? Come on! Who's your daddy?!
Dalek: You are the Predator.
The Doctor: Access your standing orders concerning the Predator.
Dalek: The Predator must be destroyed!
The Doctor: And how are you going to do that, Dalek? Without a gun, you're a tricycle with a roof! How are you going to destroy me?
Dalek: Self-destruct initiated!
Amy: What's it doing?
The Doctor: It's gonna blow itself up, and me with it. Only weapon it's got left.
(The Doctor lifts it's lid and uses the sonic screwdriver inside)
Dalek: Self-destruct cannot be countermanded!
The Doctor: I'm not looking for a countermand, dear. I'm looking... for reverse!
Dalek: (suddenly whizzing backwards; panicked) Forward! FORWARD! (bumps into another Dalek and explodes)

Oswin Oswald: Do you know how you make someone into a Dalek? Subtract love, add anger. (about Amy) Doesn't she seem a bit too angry to you?
Amy: Well, somebody's never been to Scotland!

[The Doctor enters the Asylum's "Intensive Care"]
The Doctor: What's so special about this lot, then?
Oswin: Don't know. Survivors of particular wars; Spiridon, Kembel, Aridius, Vulcan, Exxilon... Ringing any bells?
The Doctor: All of them.
Oswin: Yeah? How?
The Doctor: These are the Daleks who survived me.
[The Daleks begin to wake up]
Daleks: Doctor... Doctor... Doctor...
Oswin: That's weird. Those ones don't usually wake up for anything.
The Doctor: Yeah, well, special visitor.

Supreme Paradigm Dalek: The Asylum is destroyed.
Dalek: Incoming teleport from Asylum planet. We are under attack!
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Prepare to defend! Defend! Defend!
Dalek Prime Minister: Explain, Dalek Supreme!
The Doctor: [from off-screen] You know, you guys should really have seen this coming. Thing about me and teleports, I've got a really good aim. Pin-point accurate, in fact. Or, to put it another way... [he sticks his head out the TARDIS door] Suckers!
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Identify yourself!
Dalek: Identify!
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Identify!
The Doctor: Well, it's me! You know me, the Doctor! The Oncoming Storm, the Predator--
Darla: Titles are not meaningful in this context. Doctor who?
Dalek Prime Minister: Doctor who?
Supreme Paradigm Dalek: Doctor who?!
The Doctor: Oh, Oswin. Oh, you did it to them all. [grins] You beauty!
Daleks: Doctor who?! Doctor who?! Doctor who?!
The Doctor: Fellas, you're never gonna stop asking!

The Day of the Doctor[edit]

[In the Time War, a half-destroyed Dalek notices the words "No More" blasted into a wall by the Doctor]
Dalek: [to a Gallifreyan soldier] What... what are these words? Explain! Explain!

The Time of the Doctor[edit]

Dalek Commander: You are dying, Doctor.
The Doctor: Yes, I am dying. You've been trying to kill me for centuries, and here I am, dying of old age. If you want something done, do it yourself.
Dalek Commander: You will die, and the Time Lords will never return.
The Doctor: You still can't work up the courage to shoot me, can you? You're still worried I've got something up my sleeve! [Dejectedly] Well, knock yourselves out, boys. I've got nothing this time.
[A crack in time opens in the sky, and regeneration energy drifts down from the crack into the Doctor's mouth.]
Dalek Commander: You will die now, Doctor. This is the end of you! The rules of regeneration are known. You have expended all your lives!
The Doctor: Sorry, what did you say? Did you mention the rules? Now, listen. A bit of advice: tell me the truth if you think you know it, lay down the law if you're feeling brave, but, Daleks, never ever tell me the rules!
Dalek Commander: Emergency! Emergency! The Doctor is regenerating!
[The clock tower begins to strike twelve]
The Doctor: Oh, look at this! Regeneration number thirteen! We're breaking some serious science here, boys! And I tell you what, it's gonna be a whopper!
Daleks: Exterminate! Exterminate the Doctor!
The Doctor: You think you can stop me now, Daleks? If you want my life, [shouting] come and get it! [The Doctor focuses his regenerative energy to destroy several Daleks] Love from Gallifrey, boys! [The Doctor unleashes a blast from his head that obliterates the Dalek ship above, sending out a shock wave destroying all Daleks in the area]

The Twelfth Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by Peter Capaldi

Into the Dalek[edit]

The Doctor: I'm part of you. My mind is in your mind.
"Rusty" the Dalek: I see your mind, Doctor. I see your universe.
The Doctor: And isn't the universe beautiful?
"Rusty" the Dalek: I see beauty.
The Doctor: Yes, that's good. That is good. Hold on to that.
"Rusty" the Dalek: I see endless divine perfection.
The Doctor: Make it a part of you. Remember how you feel right now. Put it inside you and live by it.
"Rusty" the Dalek: I see into your soul, Doctor. I see beauty. I see divinity. I... see... hatred!
The Doctor: Hatred?
"Rusty" the Dalek: I see your hatred of the Daleks and it is good!
The Doctor: No, no, no. No, you must see more than that, there must be more than that.
"Rusty" the Dalek: Death to the Daleks! Death to the Daleks! Death to the Daleks!
The Doctor: No, there must be more than that! There must be more than that! Please!
"Rusty" the Dalek: Daleks are evil! Daleks must be exterminated!

"Rusty" the Dalek: Victory is yours. But it does not please you.
The Doctor: You looked inside me, and you saw hatred. That's not victory. Victory would've been a good Dalek.
"Rusty" the Dalek: I am not a good Dalek. You are a good Dalek.

The Magician's Apprentice[edit]

The Doctor: Skaro! You've brought me to Skaro.
Davros: Where does an old man go to die, but with his children?

Davros: See how they play with her (Clara). See how they toy. They want her to run. They need her to run. So feel their need, Doctor. Their blood is screaming: "Kill! Kill! Kill!" Hunter and prey, held in the ecstasy of crisis. Is this not life at its purest?
Dalek: Exterminate! Exterminate! [Shots running Clara]
The Doctor: Why have I ever let you live?
Davros: Compassion, Doctor. It has always been your greatest indulgence. That is my final victory. Let me hear you say it, just once: "Compassion...is...wrong."

The Witch's Familiar[edit]

[The Doctor enters the Dalek's main room inside Davros' wheelchair.]
The Doctor: Admit it: you've all had this exact nightmare. [wheels to the center of the room] So... anyone for dodgems?

Davros: Doctor. This urge for conquest... It is gratifying to see you learn.

Davros: You should feel privileged. The only other chair... on Skaro.

Davros: Now he sees it. Now he understands. The cables, Doctor. Touch them. Imagine... to hold in your hand the heartbeat of every Dalek on Skaro. They send me life. Is it beyond the wit of a Time Lord to send them death? And it'll work. And it could be done.
The Doctor: [skeptical] And why would you be telling me this?
Davros: Genocide. In a moment. Such slaughter, not in self-defence, not as a simple act of war. Genocide as a choice. Are you ready, Doctor? So many backs with a single knife. [Davros lifts the Doctor's hand towards the cables.] Are you ready to be a god?

Davros: A man should have a race! A people, an allegiance...

Davros: If you have redeemed the Time Lords from the fire... do not lose them again. Take the darkest path into the deepest hell, but protect your own... as I have sought to protect mine. Doctor... Tell me... was I right? I need to know, before the end. Am I a good man?
The Doctor: You really are dying, aren't you?
Davros: Look at me. Did you doubt it?
The Doctor: Yes.
Davros: Then we have established one thing only.
The Doctor: What?
Davros: You are not... a good doctor.
[The Doctor soon gets the joke and starts laughing. Davros laughs with him.]

Davros: Regeneration energy... The ancient magic of the Time Lords! I thought I would have to tear it apart to take it from you but, as always, your compassion is your downfall.

Twice Upon a Time[edit]

The Doctor: Now Rusty, you know that I'm dying. But if you don't want me to go off and die somewhere else where you can't watch, you're gonna have to stop shooting at me.
"Rusty" the Dalek: I... agree to your terms.
The Doctor: Well, I'm gonna need some proof.
["Rusty" detaches its gun and sends it skidding across the floor]
The Doctor: You know what? You're the very first Dalek that ever got naked for me.

The Thirteenth Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by Jodie Whittaker

Resolution[edit]

Army Commander: [over radio] Intercepted unknown drone. We have it surrounded.
Dalek: Surrender!
Army Commander: ...did it just talk?
Dalek: Allocated surrender period has expired! Consequence: extermination!

Revolution of the Daleks[edit]

Dalek: Incoming emergency spatial shift! Exterminate!
Reconnaissance Scout Dalek: Do not exterminate! I am Dalek! Halt!
Dalek Supreme: We have exterminated all impurities. You are the final remaining impurity.
Reconnaissance Scout Dalek: I am not impure; I am a survivor -- the last remains of a reconnaissance scout. I surveyed this planet. I attempted to alert the fleet. I have served, given my life, for the Dalek cause!
Dalek Supreme: But you are impure!
Reconnaissance Scout Dalek: I can be purified. My genetics can be modified.
Dalek Supreme: There is only one purification! Exterminate!

The Fourteenth Doctor[edit]

Portrayed by David Tennant

Destination: Skaro[edit]

Davros: Observe: A bonded polycarbide shell, a ruby ray blaster, and a multi-dexterous claw capable of eliminating a million Thals. My ultimate masterpiece of design!
Mr. Castavillian: Yes, I did some research on the name, sir. Since we're called Kaleds, I thought our future selves could be an anagram of Kaled. Like, "Lekad".
Davros: No.
Mr. Castavillian: "Adlek".
Davros: No.
Mr. Castavillian: "Klade".
Davros: No.
Mr. Castavillian: "E-- Edalk."
Davros: No!

The Doctor: Oh... That's a Dalek.
Mr. Kastavellan: Oh. Good word, "Dalek". Yes, that's it!
The Doctor: I'm lucky I wasn't exterminated.
Mr. Kastavellan: "Exterminated"? Yes. Yes! Good word, great!
The Doctor: Wait a minute, do you mean this is the... genesis of the Daleks?!

Davros: Now, where were we, Mr. Kastavellan? Ah, the splendid design of my secondary--
[Both he and the Prototype Dalek notice the claw has been replaced with a plunger, courtesy of the Fourteenth Doctor. Kastavellan cringes in anticipation...]
Davros: ...I like it!

Dr. Who films[edit]

In which the Doctor (a human named "Dr. Who") was portrayed by Peter Cushing

Dr. Who and the Daleks (1965)[edit]

Dalek voice: [from the film trailer] You have invaded the world of the Daleks; Every move you make, we can see; Every sound you utter, we can hear!

Dalek: Many centuries ago, there were two peoples on this planet. Ourselves, the Daleks, and the Thals. After the neutronic war, our forefathers retired into the city, protected by this clothing. Most of the Thals perished in the war. Those who survived and remain on this planet are horrible mutations, monsters.

Red Dalek: You will move ahead of us, and follow directions. This way.
[Dr. Who and Susan move forward while Ian runs away]
[The Daleks blast him]
Red Dalek: You will recover shortly. Search him.
[A Dalek searches him and removes Tardis's fluid link.]
Dr. Who: That is of no value to you! It...
Red Dalek: Come this way.

Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D. (1966)[edit]

[As Dr. Who and Tom attempt to escape from the approaching robomen, a Dalek surfaces from the water.]
Dr. Who: Daleks!
Dalek: Take the prisoners to the spaceship. Move!

[Two robomen approach the Dalek saucer with two prisoners.]
Roboman: These men killed the other two men in my patrol.
Red Dalek: Then you shall replace them. (to the prisoners) Join the other prisoners. (to the Robomen) Continue your patrol.

[Dalek saucer closes in on the van that Susan and Wyler are using to escape London.]
Red Dalek: Target sighted.
Gold Dalek: Prepare to annihilate!

[Black Dalek presents Dr. Who.]
Black Dalek: This is the rebel leader.
Gold Dalek: You will be exterminated!

Dalek #1: [to a group of Robomen leading humans, unaware that the Robomen are rebels] Halt!
Fake Roboman: We're taking the prisoners to the spaceship.
[The Dalek glides back to let the prisoners through, still unaware of the subterfuge. The rebels reach the spaceship and go up the ramp, only to meet another Dalek.]
Dalek #2: What sector do these prisoners come from?
Fake Roboman: Sector Four.
Dalek #2: [Thinks briefly] No patrol has been allotted to Sector Four.
[The fake Roboman grabs the Dalek by its arm and gun, and forces it down the ramp with all his strength. The prisoners and other fake Robomen part to let the Dalek through. When the Dalek reaches the bottom of the ramp, it falls over and explodes. The fake Robomen remove their helmets.]
Tannoy: [In room where Tom, Dr Who and another man are undergoing Robotisation] General alert! All Daleks to main ramp! We are under attack! Emergency! Emergency!

About The Daleks[edit]

They're supposed to be like tanks housing little green villains. ~ Tom Spilsbury
Aren’t we all interested in dominating other people? Total control, a machine-like desire, and the Daleks. It had a neatness that fitted. In the past only human endeavour has overcome this kind of evil. Man is a supreme creation if he is able to work with his fellows. There is nothing he can’t do if he gets down to it. I believe that what people want on television is entertainment, and action stories are what I want to write – there are plenty of other people to write sociological dramas - but if the Daleks have a message this is it. It’s so ‘nonsensically simple. Why do people starve and die in the streets and go on fightingVietnam for instance, all in the name of democracy! ~ Terry Nation
Have you noticed, for example, that when they move about there's a sort of acrid smell? ~ Terry Nation
Their eye is flexible, like a large camera lens. ~ Terry Nation
  • I went and talked to David Whitaker, the script editor of ‘Doctor Who’, and I came up with a story idea. They liked it, they bought it, and that takes us up to where the Daleks started. I don’t know to this day what the enormous appeal of the Daleks was. I’ve heard all sorts of ideas about it, but they were slightly magical, because you didn’t know what the elements were that made them work. I’d been a cinema-goer all my life, and loved going to what were rated in those days as horror movies. Whatever the creature was, somewhere in your heart of hearts, you know it was a man dressed up, so my first requirement was to take the legs off. Take away the humanoid form, and we were off and running.
Further inspiration came from the Georgian State Ballet, the Russian dance trouple which was performing in London at the time. There was a dance that the women did, where they wore floor-brushing skirts, and evidently took tiny steps, so they appeared to glide across the stage. There was no suggestion of what form of locomotion they were using. That’s what I wanted for the Daleks. The rest of it comes easily, you put on an eye, and something else for hands. We made a big mistake with the hands, of course, we should have been smarter, but I had no faith in the show. It was the old writer’s axiom, ‘Take the money and fly like a thief’. I really didn’t think that it could work.
After the Daleks, I was for a short time the most famous writer on television. The press interviewed me, there was mail arriving in great van loads. There was stuff coming to my house that said ‘Dalek Man – London’, and I was getting lots of them. Almost all the kids wanted a Dalek, and nobody was quick enough. The BBC, not being the great commercial operator, wasn’t ready, so there was no merchandising, there were no plastic Daleks, there were no buttons, there were no anything. My God, was that to change! Within the year, there were Dalek everythings.
  • Ray Cusick, the designer, took rough notes of my ideas for the Dalek’s behaviour, the electronic eye, mechanical hands, and so on, and although I didn’t have a clear visual image in my mind, when I saw his finished Dalek design it seemed very familiar. In fact the visible part of the Dalek is only a travelling case inside which there is the Dalek itself, a shapeless brain intercommunicating and interacting with all the other Dalek brains – although later there came a need for these to be organised through a Dalek Supreme.
  • DOCTOR: The floors are metal. All the floors are metal.
BARBARA: Well, so are the streets of the city outside.
DOCTOR: Why?
BARBARA: I don't know.
DOCTOR: No, I know you don't know. I mean, why do they use metal? Is it because it lasts longer? Or because-
IAN: Because it's essential to them. That's an idea.
BARBARA: Well how is that going to help us?
IAN: Well, if metal is essential
DOCTOR: No, no, no, now listen. Let's concentrate on the Daleks. Have you noticed, for example, that when they move about there's a sort of acrid smell?
SUSAN: Yes, yes, I've noticed that.
BARBARA: I know. A fairground.
IAN: That's it. Dodgems.
DOCTOR: It's electricity. I think they're powered that way.
IAN: Yes. But just a minute. They have no pick-up or anything. And only the base of the machine touches the floor. How do they complete the circuit?
SUSAN: Batteries?
DOCTOR: No, no. I believe the Daleks have discovered a way to exploit static electricity. Very ingenious, if I'm right.
BARBARA: What, drawing power from the floor?
DOCTOR: Precisely. If I'm right, of course. Now, what do we know apart from guessing how they are powered?
SUSAN: Well, they can see all round them.
BARBARA: Yes. Their eye is flexible, like a large camera lens.
DOCTOR: Yes, yes, yes, yes. Now, Chesterton, do you mind concentrating, young man?
IAN: Hmm? Susan. The cloak the Thals gave you.
SUSAN: Yes, it's just behind you.
IAN: Barbara, come here. What do you think this is made of?
BARBARA: I don't know. It isn't plastic, I don't think it's nylon either.
IAN: Whatever it is, it'll do for what we want.
DOCTOR: And what will it do, young man? Hmm?
IAN: Insulate. If you are right, Doctor, about the Daleks taking up power from the floor, this is a perfect way of putting them out of action.
  • CORNISH: That's Tom Spilsbury. He's the editor at Doctor Who magazine. The Daleks, he says, look like giant metal salt shakers. But they're somehow believable as evil-armored aliens.
SPILSBURY: They don't look like humans at all. You know, often if you have a robot, you can see it's a guy in a suit. It's an actor. You know, it's very obvious. The thing with the Daleks is that they weren't obviously just an actor dressed up.
  • SPILSBURY: They're effectively a giant pepper pot, yeah.
BLOCK: In fact, it's been said that a pepper pot or salt shaker at a lunch meeting gave Ray Cusick the inspiration for the Daleks' look. They're supposed to be like tanks housing little green villains.
