Lead, Follow, etc.

Please cite the source, or where you got the idea, that it was Patton who said "Lead, Follow, or get out of the way", if you can. Note that quotes without sources are routinely removed. Thanks ~ DanielTom (talk) 21:08, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

Merry Browne

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Mary Browne, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but it may not satisfy Wikiquote's criteria for inclusion, for the reasons given in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikiquote is not" and Wikiquote's deletion policy).

You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Votes for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. ~ Ningauble (talk) 20:21, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi Hans, I noticed the quote "Preconceived notions are the locks on the door to wisdom" is notable enough for inclusion in Wikipedia. However, I couldn't exactly determine, who this "Mary Browne" is/was. The quote is also attributed to "Merry Browne", who seem to have authored Advanced Seven Steps to Truth about Life (1969) and The ladder of life (1986). If you have some more data, we might be able to recreate this article. -- Mdd (talk) 15:19, 12 May 2014 (UTC)

Moving Mary Browne to Merry Browne isn't enough to keep the article. The quote itself could be added to the lemma wisdom, for example with the following source-info:

• Colleagues let us do first things first keeping in mind that preconceived notions are the locks on the door to wisdom.
  • Merry Browne in National Enquirer as quoted in Reader's Digest (1997) Reader's digest quotable quotes. p. 96

In order to keep the biographical article on Merry Browne, first some sort of biographical data should be available. Here is the problem that I cannot find to which Merry Browne is referred to (and if she is notable enough for inclusion). -- Mdd (talk) 23:29, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
