Global rollbackers

Global rollbackers may use the following rights only in the context of countervandalism efforts:

• markbotedits
• noratelimit
• rollback
• suppressredirect

However, the above is not permitted if the user previously had rollback removed involuntarily. If removal has previously ocurred, they must request and be granted rollback locally by an English Wikiquote administrator.

Global sysops

Global sysops can use their rights on this wiki; however, global sysops are asked to ensure that they only take action on spam, vandalism or other uncontroversial maintenance, and refer to local administrators otherwise as appropriate. Before taking action, global sysops should take time to study what content is acceptable on Wikiquote, as this may differ substantially from other wikis. Helpful links in particular include the Wikiquote criteria for speedy deletion and What Wikiquote is not.

Stewards

Stewards may use the following permissions in the course of their duties:

• Global rollback and global sysop permissions following the policies above
• Use Special:Undelete to view deleted revisions
• Use the CheckUser tool
• Use the oversight tool to suppress revisions or abusive usernames

In addition, stewards can also perform the following actions:

• Add and remove the CheckUser and oversight permissions
• Remove all permissions:
  • in an emergency situation;
  • in response to a user's self-request;
  • or per WMF Board of Trustees decision.

These actions can affect the English Wikiquote, but are done at m:Steward requests/Permissions and are logged at m:Special:Log/rights.

Removal of rights

In general, English Wikiquote administrators may ask a user to stop using their global rights if what they deem to be misuse occurs, and the user must comply with such a request. Such a decision can be appealed to the wider community.

A user who abuses their global rights by knowingly or recklessly using their global rights on the English Wikiquote in contravention of this policy should be reported to meta:Stewards' noticeboard or #wikimedia-stewards on IRC immediately, where the stewards will determine whether an emergency removal of tools is required. An indefinite block may also be placed on the account locally during this period if necessary to prevent further abuse (see the above section).
