Stay and play that Blink-182 song that we beat to death in Tucson. ~ Halsey

blink-182 is an American rock band formed in Poway, California, in 1992. Since 2015, the lineup of the band has consisted of bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus, drummer Travis Barker, and lead guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba. Founded by lead guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge, Hoppus, and drummer Scott Raynor, the band emerged from the Southern California punk scene of the early 1990s and first gained notoriety for high-energy live shows and irreverent lyrical toilet humor.

Song lyrics[edit]

Cheshire Cat (1995)[edit]

All tracks written by Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus. Additional lyrics on "Wasting Time" by Jeff Forrest.

  • I talk to you every now and then,
I never felt so alone again.
I stop to think at a wishing well,
My thoughts send me on a carousel.
Here I am standing on my own,
Not a motion from the telephone.
I know not a reason why
    Solitude's a reason to die.
  • 'Cause when I'm with you there's nothing I wouldn't do.
I just wanna be your only one.
I'm grasping out at straws thinking back to what I saw
That night on the floor when we were all alone.
  • Sometimes I sit at home and
Wonder if she's sitting at home
Thinking of me and wondering if I'm
Sitting at home, thinking about her.
Or am I just wasting my time?

Dude Ranch (1997)[edit]

All tracks written by Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Scott Raynor.

  • And it's happened once again
    I'll turn to a friend
    Someone that understands,
    Sees through the master plan.
    But everybody's gone
And I've been here for too long
To face this on my own.
Well, I guess this is growing up.
Well, I guess this is growing up.
  • And when I feel like giving up, like my world is falling down,
I show up at 3 A.M., she's still up watching Vacation.
And I see her pretty face, it takes me away to a better place, and

    I know that everything,
    Know that everything,
    Know that everything,
    Everything's gonna be fine.

    • Josie (Everything's Gonna Be Fine)

Enema of the State (1999)[edit]

All tracks written by Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge.

  • She's a dove, she's a fuckin' nightmare,
Unpredictable, it's my mistake to stay here.
On the go and it's way too late to play,
I need a girl that I can train.
  • And that's about the time she walked away from me.
Nobody likes you when you're 23.
And are still more amused by TV shows.
    What the hell is ADD?
My friends say I should act my age.
    What's my age again?
    What's my age again?
  • I never conquered, rarely came.
16 just held such better days.
Days when I still felt alive.
We couldn't wait to get outside.
The world was wide, too late to try.
The tour was over, we'd survived.
    I couldn't wait 'til I got home
To pass the time in my room alone.
  • All the, small things
    True care, truth brings
    I'll take, one lift
    Your ride, best trip
    Always, I know
    You'll be, at my show.
    Watching, waiting,
    Commiserating.

    Say it ain't so,
    I will not go.
    Turn the lights off,
    Carry me home.

  • Late night, come home.
    Work sucks, I know.
She left me roses by the stairs.
Surprises let me know she cares.
    • All the Small Things

Take Off Your Pants and Jacket (2001)[edit]

All tracks written by Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker.

  • When you smile, I melt inside.
I'm not worthy for a minute of your time.
I really wish it was only me and you.
I'm jealous of everybody in the room.
    Please don't look at me with those eyes;
Please don't hint that you're capable of lies.
I dread the thought of our very first kiss,
A target that I'm probably gonna miss.
  • Because I fell in love with the girl at the rock show
She said "what?" and I told her that I didn't know.
She's so cool, gonna sneak in through her window.
    Everything's better when she's around.
I can't wait 'til her parents go out of town.
I fell in love with the girl at the rock show.
  • So here's your holiday.
Hope you enjoy it this time, you gave it all away.
It was mine, so when you're dead and gone,
Will you remember this night, twenty years now lost?
    It's not right.

blink-182 (2003)[edit]

All tracks written by Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker, except where noted.

  • Fate fell short this time,
Your smile fades in the summer.
    Place your hand in mine.
    I'll leave when I wanna.
  • Hello there,
    The angel from my nightmare,
The shadow in the background of the morgue,
The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley.
  • Where are you and I'm so sorry
I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight.
    I need somebody and always
    This sick strange darkness
Comes creeping on so haunting every time.
And as I stare I counted
The webs from all the spiders,
Catching things and eating their insides.
    Like indecision to call you
And hear your voice of treason.
Will you come home and stop this pain tonight?
    Stop this pain tonight.
    • I Miss You
  • Don't waste your time on me you're already
The voice inside my head (I miss you, I miss you).
    • I Miss You
  • This is the first (thing I remember)
Now it's the last (thing left on my mind)
Afraid of the dark (do you hear me whisper?)
An empty heart (replaced with paranoia)
Where do we go? (life's temporary)
After we're gone (like New Year's resolutions)
Why is this hard? (do you recognize me?)
    I know I'm wrong (but I can't help believing).
  • Tidal waves, they rip right through me
Tears from eyes worn cold and sad
Pick me up now, I need you so bad.
  • I've been here before a few times
And I'm quite aware we're dying.
And your hands they shake with goodbyes.
And I'll take you back if you'd have me.
So here I am, I'm trying.
So here I am, are you ready?
  • With all of this I know now
    Everything inside of my head
It all just goes to show how
Nothing I know changes me at all
Again I wait for this to change instead
To tear the world in two
    Another night with her,
    But I'm always wanting you.
  • I swear that I can go on forever again
Please let me know that my one bad day will end.
I will go down as your lover, your friend.
Give me your lips and with one kiss, we begin.

Are you afraid of being alone?
Because I am, I'm lost without you.
Are you afraid of leaving tonight?
Because I am, I'm lost without you.

Neighborhoods (2011)[edit]

All tracks written by Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker.

  • Yeah I
    I saw your ghost tonight.
    The moment felt so real.
If your eyes stay right on mine,
My wounds would start to heal.
  • Everyone wants to call it all around our life with a better name.
Everyone falls and spins and gets up again with a friend who does the same.
Everyone lies and cheats their wants and needs and still believes their heart.
And everyone gets the chills, the kind that kills when the pain begins to start.
  • Blackjack and architect,
    Let's drink ourselves to death.
    The crimes of everyone
Passed down from father to son.
    Hopeless and destitute.
    Destroyed my gratitude.
Your strongest lines of defense are all just self-inflicted wounds.

You seemed so sweet at the start but the start's all wrong.
You say you speak from your heart but your heart's all gone.

California (2016)[edit]

All tracks written by Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, Matt Skiba and John Feldmann, except where noted.

  • Save your breath, I'm nearly
Bored to death and fading fast.
Life is too short to last long.
    Back on earth I'm broken,
Lost and cold and fading fast.
Life is too short to last long.
  • We're falling faster than we can fly
Forgotten seconds out on Sunset Drive.
And I hold on tight but not enough to hold you back.
