This is a category for all templates beginning with "User". These templates are not encyclopedic and are not part of the encyclopedic content.

If you are putting a user subpage (personal userbox) in this category make sure to enter your page in the category like this:

but if the User subpage is something like "User:Testuser/Userboxes/User userbox" then it should be shortened and FULLPAGENAME not used:

[[Category:User templates|User:Testuser/Userboxname]]

or alternatively:

[[:Category:User templates|{{NAMESPACE}}:{{BASEPAGENAME}}/Userboxname]]

or for UBX subpages

Now a large problem in this category and its sub-categories is when a user copies the source of a userbox and places it on his/her userpage, this can cause mis-categorizations and the like.

1. To find the original userbox type the info section of the userbox into the search box and click search.
2. Obviously you only get mainspace entries. Now change the search type from MediaWiki to Google and results should appear.
3. If you are lucky the template or subpage from which the userbox originated will be at the top, if not, if the first entry is a userpage click it anyway.
4. If you have the name of the template simply place it in the userpage in place of the copied userbox with {{}}.
5. If you are at the first userpage, then click on edit and view the source of this page.
6. Does this userpage also have the userbox copied? If so you will have to go to the second entry on Google. If the userbox is not copied then find the transcluded line (with the brackets) and copy that code onto the duplicate userbox like step 4.
