Standard Indonesian

Standard Indonesian (bahasa Indonesia baku) is the standard variety of the Indonesian language. Spoken by more than 275 million speakers, it is considered as one of the world's most spoken languages. It served as the national language of the Republic of Indonesia as well as one of the official languages of the United Nations.

The Standard Indonesian has been included as one of the learning curriculum in at least 52 countries (per 2023 data). In the country of Timor-Leste specifically, the Standard Indonesian functioned as one of the official working languages. The courses to study the Standard Indonesian are also widely available, such as in the top global universities of Harvard University, Cambridge University, Australian National University, etc.
