Buddha quote or not?

And the life of the candle will not be shortened."

You have attributed this lovely thought to the Buddha. However, websites do not universally agree. Gautama Buddha at Wikiquotes does not include it in the article, but only on the Discussion page, https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Talk:Gautama_Buddha#Quotes_requiring_additional_source_information , where additional sources are requested.

These sites present a range of answers to the question of whether this is a Buddha quote:
