Template:Unreferenced
From Wikiquote
- Using this template on a page automatically adds the page to Category:Articles lacking sources. To display a sample of the template without adding the page to the category, use
{{Unreferenced|categories=no}}. - This template is a self-reference.
- This template is not useful for w:Wikipedia:Subst.
- There is currently no policy about where to place this template; most on Wikipedia suggest either the bottom of the article page (in an empty "References" section), or on the article's talk page.
- If the external links section includes a references section, this template should not be used. Use {{fact}} instead for specific quotes that need sources.
Usage [edit]
This template has one optional definable field, which permits the user to be specific in what needs to be cited. For instance, if the entire article needs to be sourced, a user would enter:
{{unreferenced|article}}
Should a user wish to be more specific on which section of the article needs to be sourced, then the user would enter in:
{{unreferenced|article's section called "Childhood"}}
Leaving the template undefined is acceptable, as it will print out the default text listed on this template page.
