[edit] Dr. Richard Kimble
- Officer, there's a man in a blue topcoat waving a gun and screaming...at a woman.
- You switched the samples! You switched the samples after Lenz died! Did you kill Lenz, too? Huh? He falsified his research. He switched the samples so that RDU-90 could be approved and Devlin McGregor could give you... Provasic!
[edit] Marshal Samuel Gerard
On the phone receiving a dressing down from his superior that he was supposed to capture and interrogate Copeland, not kill him
- Well, what can I say, Sir? Mr. Copeland was a bad man. He was going to kill one of my kids. If you want to get mad get mad at me, I am the man who shot him.
After finding an employee ID card of Kimble's falsely identifying him as Desmondo Villareal
- Where are you, Desmondo?
- So he showed up not dead yet. Let that be a lesson to you, boys and girls. Don't ever argue with the Big Dog, because the Big Dog is always right.
- Dr. Richard Kimble! There's no way out of here, Richard! The entire building is locked down! Give it up Richard, you don't have any time, Chicago police department thinks you're a cop killer, they WILL shoot you on sight! Richard, I know you're innocent! I know about Frederick Sykes! I know about Dr. Charles Nichols! Richard, he borrowed your car the night of your wife's murder, he had your keys! No forced entry, Richard! He telephoned Sykes from your car, Richard! Richard, give it up! Richard, I'm either lying or I'm gonna shoot you, what do you think? Give it up, Richard. It's time to stop running.
[edit] Detective Kelly
- We just got word from the U.S. Marshals that our old friend Richard Kimble is alive and well and has decided to come back home to Chicago. Now, we all know what high regard we hold for this scumbag, so I am personally donating a bottle of 12-year old Scotch to whomever puts the collar on this quack.
[edit] Dialogue
- Dr. and Mrs. Kimble are driving home from a charity ball
- Helen Kimble: Thank you for coming with me to that charity ball. I know how much you hate those functions, but God, I love seeing you in a tux.
- Richard Kimble: I know honey, but it's just that I don't like the outfit. I feel like I'm a waiter or something.
- Cellphone rings, Dr. Kimble switches it to a hands-free mode
- Richard Kimble: Hello?
- Chicago Memorial employee: Dr. Kimble? Sorry to disturb you at this late hour but Dr. Lentz is about to perform emergency surgery and he has requested a more experienced physician. Are you available?
- Richard Kimble: Well, OK. Tell him I'm on my way.
- Helen Kimble: I'll wait up for you.
- Chicago Police station. A traumatized Richard Kimble suddenly realizes that was the last conversation he had with his bride
- [Kimble sees Copeland has escaped the train wreck. Copeland unlocks Kimble's handcuffs]
- Copeland: Now you listen, and you listen good. I don't care which way you run. Just don't follow me, got it?
- [Copeland runs off into the night]
- Kimble: Hey Copeland?
- Copeland turns around
- Kimble: Be good.
- [Both chuckle]
- Prison Guard: I do not know how I did it, it all happened so fast. The train was coming and I must have used my strength to push him out to safety.
- Sheriff Rollins: You could have been killed doing that. You are a brave man.
- Prison Guard: Well, he is my partner. He would have done the same for me.
- Sheriff Rollins presents photos of Carlson, Copeland and Pernilla
- Sheriff Rollins: These three you say were killed in the accident and this one?
- Sheriff Rollins presents photo of Kimble
- Prison Guard: No, I do not think he made it.
- Sheriff Rollins: Welp, that is it. Sorry Marshal, looks like you came all the way here for nothing. The prisoners are all dead.
- Gerard: With all due respect Sheriff, I want to establish police checkpoints on I-95, I-31 and 89 South.
- Sheriff Rollins: The only result of that will be getting a lot of good people frantic and flooding my office with calls.
- Gerard: Well rats Sheriff, I would really hate to see that happen, so I guess I will take over this investigation.
- Sheriff Rollins: On whose authority?
- Gerard: On the authority of the Governor of the State of Illinois and the United States Marshals Office.
- Sheriff Rollins: You want jurisdiction over this mess? Fine, you got it! All right listen up everybody, you can all go home now, Wyatt Earp is taking over!
- Gerard: Wyatt Earp, that is funny!
- Biggs presents Kimble's unsecured leg irons
- Renfro: Hi yo!
- Gerard: Will you look at this! You know, we are always fascinated when we find leg irons with no legs in them! Who held the keys?
- Prison Guard: I did, sir.
- Gerard: And where are those keys now?
- Prison Guard: Ulp! He might have gotten out.
- Savanha: Care to revise your statement, sir?
- Prison Guard: What?
- Renfro: Do you want to change your bullshit story?
- Sheriff Rollins: What is this? A minute ago he was part of the wreckage now he might have gotten out?!
- Gerard: Listen up, ladies and gentlemen. A fugitive has been on the run for ninety minutes. Average foot speed over uneven ground barring injuries is 4 miles per hour and that gives us a radius of six miles. What I want out of each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive's name is Dr. Richard Kimble. Go get him.
- Gerard: Robert?
- Biggs: Yo!
- Gerard: Type that blood, match it against all four prisoners. Renfro?
- Renfro: Yo!
- Gerard: Get a fax ID on Kimble to every local hospital. And follow with the troopers. Newman?
- Newman: Yes?
- Gerard: What are you doing?
- Newman: I'm thinking.
- Gerard: Well think me up a cup of coffee and a chocolate donut with some of those little sprinkles on top, will you? As long as you're thinking?
- Marshal Biggs: Sam!
- Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: What?
- Marshal Biggs: We just got a call from Harris Community Hospital. The wounded guard swears he saw Kimble outside the emergency room.
- Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: Well, that's odd.
- Marshal Biggs: And an ambulance is missing.
- Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: Where's he going in an ambulance?
- [Gerard and Renfro enter the sewers]
- Cosmo Renfro: Shit, I just bought these shoes.
- Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: Shut up, Cosmo.
- Cosmo Renfro: [after Kimble has just leapt off the dam to escape] What happened? Where'd he go?
- Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: The guy did a Peter Pan right off of this dam, right here!
- Cosmo Renfro: What?
- Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: Yeah! BOOM! [Laughs in amazement]
- Cosmo Renfro: Holy shit! Can we go home now?
- Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: No.
- Gerard: I wanna see a helicopter come over here, 100 feet off this river--make him aware of these wires...
- Biggs: Sam, what are you, out of your mind? He's dead!
- Gerard: That ought to make him easy to catch. Hounds! I want hounds on both banks of this river for two miles upstream and downstream. You've got a search-and-rescue team? Get them down here and drag the bottom of this spillway. Why isn't the goddamn water turned off?
- Cooper: Somebody from County's working on it.
- County Sheriff: Marshal, I do not want to tell you how to do your job, but only one person in a million could survive that fall! The guy is fish food!
- Marshal Samuel Gerard: OK, get a cane pole, go catch the fish that ate him.
- Charles Nichols: Oh, my god, Richard!
- Richard Kimble: How are you, Charlie?
- Charles Nichols: Jesus, you're back.
- Richard Kimble: I need some money.
- Charles Nichols: Sure, sure. Get in.
- Richard Kimble: No, I can't. Just whatever you got on you. You're hot, pal. If not now, you will be.
- Charles Nichols: Have you got a place to stay? I mean, how can I help you?
- Police siren blares
- Policeman{on squad car loudspeaker}: You have a green light, get going!
- Charles Nichols: Richard...
- Nichols sees Kimble is long gone
- Marshal Sam Gerard: How are you feeling?
- Deputy Wood: Lousy. I have ringing in my ears. I am afraid I may suffer permanent hearing loss.
- Marshal Sam Gerard: You honestly believe I should have bargained with that man. That I should have listened to what he had to say, despite the fact he had you at gunpoint?
- Deputy Wood: Yes.
- Marshal Sam Gerard: Can you hear me in this ear?
- Deputy Wood: Yes.
- Marshal Sam Gerard: [whispering] I...don't...bargain.
- Marshal Biggs: It's hinky, Sam. I mean, this guy is a college graduate. He became a doctor. I mean, he ain't gonna go through here with all this security. Hinky.
- Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: Biggs, what does that mean, hinky?
- Marshal Biggs: I don't know. Strange. Weird
- Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: Well, why don't you say strange or weird? I mean hinky, that has no meaning.
- Marshal Biggs: Well, we say hinky.
- Deputy Marshal Samuel Gerard: I don't want you guys using words with no meaning. I'm taking the stairs
- Marshal Biggs: [sotto voice] How about bullshit? How about bullshit, Sam?
- Kimble: I didn't kill my wife!
- Gerard: I don't care!
- [Final lines]
- Kimble: I thought you said you didn't care.
- Gerard: I don't. [They begin laughing] Don't tell anyone, will you?
