Season 1[edit]

What is America? [1.01][edit]

Mrs. Bettencourt: We're taking the devil's money and we're going to do great things with it.

Robed Leader Woman: We are the scarred, the beaten, the souls irreparably damaged, and it is that shared pain that allows us to understand each other so deeply. Tonight, that suffering ends, my darlings. I will be your guide into the invisible where there is no pain, only love. The Giving Time is near. Let us ready.

Miguel: What does that mean? Is she Purging?
Ass: No, never. She's being Purged upon.

Mrs. Stanton: We wear these masks to commemorate those who paved the way and Purged before it was legal. They risked their freedom because they knew the incredible, life-changing, healing power of violence, of killing!

Blue bus cult leader: The Giving is here. Now... Now we must do our duty. We help the sinners release their hatred. We step out of our flesh and become vessels by which to carry their sins. The Earth's Children will reap the rewards of our selflessness, and we will exit righteously, escaping the darkness of our life and reaping the rewards of the Invisible, my children. This one last moment of suffering will lead to eternal love. Arthur, it is your time to Give.
Arthur: I've loved myself too much. And I have loved you all too little.
Blue bus cult sacrificees: Goodbye, Arthur. We love you, Arthur. [Arthur steps off the bus to head towards Purgers and the sacrificees chant in unison] Enter into peace. Purify his Flesh. Cleanse his soul. The Giving is here. The Invisible awaits... [The Purgers run towards Arthur and finish him]

Take What's Yours [1.02][edit]

Radio Broadcaster: The Purge IS America, so be an American and Purge.

Alison:: What about you. You must have a secret wishlist.
Jane:: Wishlist for what?
Alison:: Oh, come on. A secret Purge list? All the people you really wish you could take out? We all have one.
Jane:: I don't. I've never even been out on Purge night before.
Alison:: There's a first time for everything. I mean, what about David?

Rocko: Look, I get that it's your first time, but I'm good at what I do. Besides, they never expect a woman.

The Urge to Purge [1.03][edit]

Blue Bus cult members: [Chanting] We walk arm and arm toward peace and love for united we can conquer all.

Pete: Talbot sells peace, but she only delivers death.

Albert: Me? I help the poor once a year. April 15th. I'm just kidding. I don't pay taxes.

Miguel: You guys are here filming the violence. Drive in there!
Brit: That's why God invented zoom lenses.

Jenna: How is any of this OK? We just saw a man get shot right in front of us. We just stood there. We did nothing!

Release the Beast [1.04][edit]

Pete: Every year I wonder if this will be the Purge when I finally go numb, and every year there is something keeping me in it. Tonight, I met you.

Rex: Heard you're in a bad box with a box of nuns.

Rex: I think you have problems with some nuns.
Miguel: Are you going to help me?
Rex: The nuns will be at the Blood Carnival
Miguel: Then I'll go there

Rex: First life lesson: If someone is helping you, don't interrupt them.
Miguel: Okay, will you help me?
Rex: For Pete yes but I'll just do that. Going out is up to you.

Jane: [Kneels down to body of murdered corporate colleague] Why did you do this, Alison? No...
Alison: So, do you notify HR about my promotion or is that on me?
Jane: Mark. Mark. Come on. Mark?
Alison: It's my right.
Jane: No. No.
Alison: It's my right.
Jane: What's wrong with you?!
Alison: It's okay, right?
Jane: Okay?! Okay?! He's dead! And you killed him!
Alison: So like, what do we do now? Is there someone you should call? Did Mark have a family? I don't remember him talking about...
Jane: Alison. Everyone has a family.
Alison: Will they... Will they know it was me? Oh, God, I don't feel good. I don't feel good. They said it would make me feel better. They said that it... It would get rid of my anger, but I don't feel better. I feel worse. Oh, God, I don't have to tell my parents, do I? Are you going to tell people what I did?
Jane: Jesus Christ, how could you do this?! How could you do this?! How could you do this?!
Alison: You're not so clean yourself, Jane. I saw your computer.
Jane: Oh, God.

Rise Up [1.05][edit]

Jane: Is this necessary?
Madelyn: We don't enjoy this part, but yeah, it's necessary. Once he's marked, all women will know he's a violent animal.

Marge: My ex-husband. Feel sorry for that sack of shit.
Jane: Why? What happened?
Marge: Let's just say we adjusted his attitude. And his face.

Penelope: You broke my heart. I just didn't want to be around for you to fix it.

Penelope: What is this place?
Woman: This place? It's like the McDonalds of Purge.

The Forgotten [1.06][edit]

Lovely Dark and Deep [1.07][edit]

The Giving Time Is Here [1.08][edit]

Rick: What the hell was that?
Lila: I told that woman what she deserved to know. Which you didn't have the balls to do.
Rick: Yeah. And now she's dead.
Lila: At least she died knowing the truth about her husband. A lot of women never get that chance.
Rick: Is... Is that supposed to be a dig?! Lila... I know you're upset, but Jenna made her decision. Just respect it, okay? My God, you... You're young. You have your whole life ahead of you. [Lila lightly scoffs]
Lila: She talked about leaving you, you know. Did she tell you that?
Rick: Yeah, of course. She tells me everything.
Lila: So what'll it take to make you go away? Come on, Ricky. Give me a number.
Rick: [Lightly chuckles] Wow. You want to buy me.
Lila: $5 million? $10 million.
Rick: [Lightly chuckles] Wow. You're pathetic.
Lila: But I'm getting closer, aren't I? $20 million.
Rick: I'm not for sale. I built this life from nothing. I can do it again.
Lila: [Chuckles and starts walking up to him] That's right. Hardscrabble Rick with his bootstrap stories. But at the end of the day, too chickenshit to pull the trigger. God, you know, the fact that you think that's a weakness speaks volumes. My father always knew you'd never be one of us. He used to joke that you reeked of trash. Poor white trash.
Rick: [Whispers] Fuck you.
Lila: [Laughs and starts leaning in] Aw, I know that look. Same one you gave me on the first night. Now, do you need me to go fuck your wife again for you? [Lightly kisses him and Rick grabs her ramming her hard against the kitchen island counter with a look of primal rage with Lila looking back in primal fear]

Albert: [Hands glass to woman] Honey.
Woman: Oh, so beautiful.
Man: Big day, Lila.
Woman: Good luck.
Albert: If I could just, for a second, have your attention. Hi! I'd like to thank you all for coming, for celebrating this occasion with us in our home... And with our daughter, our spectacular Lila. Look at you. You're just... [Softly chuckles] You're stunning. Your mother and I have always known that you were destined for magnificence. And we... we truly could not be prouder of you. Tonight is momentous. [Guests murmur in agreement] But it's just the first commencement. [Raises glass in toast] To a lifetime of glorious participation. [Entire party raises their glasses]
Woman: Yeah. Cheers.
All: Cheers.
Man 1: Hear, hear.
Man 2: To Lila.
Man 3: Cheers, Lila.
Man 4: Mmm-hmm.
Albert: And now, our gift on the eve of your 18th birthday. Gentlemen? [A homely dressed elderly man sits at a table with a servant bringing platter of a gun and a knife to Lila with her choosing the gun and she starts walking forwards]
[Guests murmurs]
Woman 1: Should be fine, right?
Woman 2: Yeah. [Laughs]
Woman 3: Ah, it's a big decision.
Woman 4: Choose your path.
Woman 5: Whenever you're ready, love.
[Guest murmuring]
Man 5: Oh!
Woman 6: Oh, great choice.
Woman 7: Wonderful.
Albert: That's my girl. A toast to my daughter.
All: Cheers.
Albert: We're all here to celebrate her and to support her on her journey. To Lila.
Guests: To Lila. [They all drink in toast]
[Lila discharges firearm into man's head who reels backwards]
Demonic voice: Yes...!
[All guests break out in applause]

[Rick is sitting on a couch in the family room placing a gun on the coffee table and the Lila sneaks up behind with with a Greek house paddle and starts assaulting him]
Lila: [Grabs gun and points it at him] You did this! You chose this!
Jenna: Lila, stop! Jenna, Jenna, Jenna, go back upstairs.
Lila: It's okay. I'm protecting us. He grabbed me. He tried to kill me.
Jenna: No, I don't want any more violence tonight!
Lila: He's a violent man! He's a past distant memory! Why would you try risking raising our child with this monster?!
Rick: She's not your child! [Lila cocks gun]
Lila: Rick, no! No. I was there when it happened! You needed me to make her happen! But now you want to cut me out of your life?! He's making you do this. I know he is. He hates what we have!
Jenna: Put the gun down! Put it down!
Lila: You love me, right?! Tell me I'm not crazy. Because I don't know what's real anymore.
Jenna: Yes. It was real. It was real when I said those things. I meant them when I said them. I'm so sorry I hurt you. Okay? Please, I'm sorry. Please. I know you love me.
Lila: You'll understand one day, I did this for us.
Rick: [Lila exerts effort to discharge the firearm and Rick shield face] No, no, no! [Rick is unscathed and Lila turns to Jenna to realize that she stabbed her and Lila falls down]

I Will Participate [1.09][edit]

A Nation Reborn [1.10][edit]

Penelope: Let go of me!
Joe: You little bitch. You almost ruined everything. But right now we can have the trial. Just the two of us. Thank you for holding the door.
Penelope: It's a little late for that now. We give people one strike in this country now?
Joe: Don't talk to me about what we do in this country. Where the hell were you born?
Penelope: Staten Island.
Joe: What about your parents?
Penelope: What difference does that make? This is our home.
Joe: This country used to be a place where everybody could thrive.
Penelope: Not everybody.
Joe: All that hope and change bullshit didn't get us anywhere. America was circling the drain until the Purge. Suddenly each of us had the power to make things better and we did.
Penelope: At gunpoint?
Joe: At every point.
Penelope: No. I woke up today convinced that my life only had value if I was a victim. I was wrong.
Joe: Oh, come on. You know you don't have it in you to be anything else. When the rains come and flood this rock, will you... Sink or swim? Will you drown? Or fight your way to shore.
Penelope: Yeah, Bobby Sheridan. Tavis played us his lectures. Said we needed to understand why Purgers are broken, so we can learn how to help them.
Joe: Then you know exactly why I'm doing this.
Penelope: I do. I just don't know why you believe it will help. Because for me, it can't get any worse.
Joe: God bless America, where I have the freedom to decide for myself what's right and the freedom to change my circumstances.
Penelope: This might be your America, but it's not mine.
Joe: Right now it's the only one that matters.
Penelope: No. The country you're destroying... I want to help rebuild. And I'm not the only one.
Joe: Huh.
Penelope: I see people that fight everyday to protect this country, even after it took everything from them. And I see people... complete strangers... picking each other up, not tearing each other down. And I see other people... desperate, angry people... hurting each other every year because they've been manipulated into doing it. So Purge all you want. But when you're done, what will be left? A nation of murderers. If Purging really worked... if everyone actually got better... wouldn't we stop needing it?
Joe: Like our great nation, I will be reborn. [Miguel enters the pool hall and shoots Joe, with Penelope running up to Miguel in embrace]
Miguel: It's ok. It's over. It's all over. [Joe attacks Miguel with Penelope striking him the a net rod and the Purge concluding alarm blares]
Joe: God damn it! It wasn't supposed to end this way! I was so looking forward to this morning, my clean slate.
Miguel: What the fuck are you talking about?!
Joe: I failed. All that work I did and almost none of it went right. Just like life. God damn it. Now we get back to normal. Come on. Without rules... We're animals. I'm a law-abiding citizen. The Purge is over. [Hands him gun] Take it. Take your sister and go home.
Penelope: Let's go.
Joe: I'll catch up with you guys next year.
Miguel: Next year?
Joe: Yeah. Next Purge. I'll finish it with both of you. [Miguel shoots him twice] Miguel, it's murder. [Miguel kicks him into the pool]
Joe's voiceover: You'll do a lot of good work on Purge night, but you won't be able to get it all done. You'll taste failure. People will always surprise you when they don't want to die.

Season 2[edit]

This Is Not a Test [2.01][edit]

Esme: Without NFFA this is what our world could look like every day.
Operator: You really think so?
Esme: I've seen what people do when they think no one's watching.

Esme: Armed robbery. Call upstairs and initiate liquidation protocol.

Purge Manager: Listen up. After the final sirens, crimes can be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Let's get to it, people.

Megan: So, what's this gonna be? Like a movie or somethin'?

Everything is Fine [2.02][edit]

Announcer: Thank you for shopping Purge USA stores. We blow out, so you can blow 'em away.

Darren: If people could be addicted to violence, well then, that goes against everything the NFFA says about releasing rage and all that.

Darren: That just gives the government more reason to suppress dissent. Think about it, if they're lying about The Purge, what else could they be covering up?

Turner: Hey, what happens on Purge Night stays on Purge Night. But I did get pictures of the Suicide Bridge as proof.

Michelle: But you would never Purge anyone. Honey, you are not that kind of person.
Marcus: Well, maybe I'm changing. We almost died last night, and everything is different now. We need to know who did this. But whatever happens, I will keep you safe. I promise.

Blindspots [2.03][edit]

Isobel: The vast majority of domestic Purges are committed by the spouse.

Farm Dude: Oh, and another thing. Preserve the meat.

Farm Dude: It's OK, kid. Not everybody has the stomach for it.

Ryan: Is this seat taken? No? Good. I'm not catching you at a bad time, am I?
Esme: Uh, d, do I know you?
Ryan: I don't know. You certainly seem to. Why were you following me yesterday?

Ryan: You know, there's a very good man is facing death because of people like you. It must feel powerful to seal someone's fate with a few simple keystrokes.
Esme: No, it doesn't. It doesn't feel good at all, but when someone breaks the law, I have no choice. It's my job.

Grief Box [2.04][edit]

Darren: If people could be addicted to violence, well then, that goes against everything the NFFA says about releasing rage and all that.

Darren: That just gives the government more reason to suppress dissent. Think about it, if they're lying about The Purge, what else could they be covering up?

Marcus: Eli, listen. Whoever told you that Purging gets you what you want, they lied.

House of Mirrors [2.05][edit]

Happy Holidays [2.06][edit]

Should I Stay or Should I Go [2.07][edit]

Before the Sirens [2.08][edit]

Hail Mary [2.09][edit]

[Children's show "Mrs. Lorelei's Corner" begins]
Mrs. Lorelei: All right boys and girls, let's have some quiet time now and think about our feelings. So, I've been having some worries lately, [Camera view reveals a boy playing in family room and watching the show on TV] and worries can be hard to talk about, even for grown-ups. That's why in America we have a holiday that helps people get their worries out. Do any of you know what it's called? [Children put up hands] Zoey? Something tells me you know.
Zoey: The Purge?
Mrs. Lorelei: That's right. The Purge allows grown-ups to deal with their bad feelings by giving them one night to do whatever they want.
Zoey: They can stay up as long as they want?
Mrs. Lorelei: They can stay up as late as they want, all night.
[Children exclaim]
Zoey: Can they kill people?!
Mrs. Lorelei: Yes, they can. The Purge gives your mommies and daddies the freedom to accomplish things they never thought possible.
Zoey: What if something happens to my mom or my little brother?
Mrs. Lorelei: Oh, Zoey, whatever happens, you and your brother will be perfectly safe. [Boys stares with a demented look] And if your mommy or daddy decide to purge, that's their decision, that is their right as an American. You know how sometimes you want to scream or cry or punch a pillow because [Boy starts bashing toy robot with increasing intensity] you are so...
Boy's mother: Time for lunch, honey! What are you watching?! [Boy stares at her then back at TV]
Mrs. Lorelei: Blessed be our new founding fathers, and America, a nation reborn.
