Long ago in the province of Albay, there was a handsome young man who fell in love with a very beautiful girl. The man's name is Christian and the girl is Charissa. Charissa also fell in love with Christian. They both loved each other dearly and made promises of a happy life together eternally.

Due to they're strong love, Charissa and Christian decided to be finally wed with each other. But little do they know that Charissa's mother is against they're love and she plans to break it and separate them from one another. Christian and Charissa, fearing that they will get separated, ran away to escape the terror of Charissa's mother. As they make their plans of escape, a fairy suddenly appeared and spoke to them saying that it’s not safe for them to go and they must stop their attempt of escape.

If they do not listen, an evil fate will meet the both of them. But they ignored the fairy's warning and went on with their plans making the fairy disappear out of disappointment. During their escape, they stumbled upon a hidden place making them think that only the both of the knew it exists. But little did they know that Charissa’s mother followed them all along giving her knowledge of their hiding place.

She plans to kill Christian so she can finally get her daughter back home. She secretly went towards them and when she was near enough, she directly stabbed Christian near his heart and killed him successfully. Joy rushed inside her heart because of the thought that finally, her daughter will never leave her side once more. Charissa wept with despair because of the pain she felt inside her heart as her love one lay lifelessly on the ground with blood.

The fairy showed up once more and said, “I warned you, but you didn’t listen.” Charissa apologized to the fairy and to her mother. Her mother, thinking that Charissa was already fine and had already forgotten Christian, brought Charissa back home. Charissa is in deep sorrow and regret filled inside her.

One day, Charissa’s mother was shocked when she saw her daughter dead inside her own room and found out that her daughter died of depression. Charissa arrived in heaven and expected that Christian will be there as well. However, the fairy actually punished Christian and sent him to a place which the fairy called “nowhere”. Charissa's world grew dark once more and in the heavens she once more.

The fairy made her tears drop here on earth for everyone to realize and experience her great sadness. Every time Charissa cries, her tears dampen the earths, waters the leaves of the forests, and the waters on Earth would increase.

After many years, the people decided to call those tears from Charissa as “rain”. So that every time it rains, we would know that Charissa is crying from the heavens crying for Christian's name, hoping to be with him again as her tears continuously pour down to the Earth.
