Carson Grant

Another editor has correctly removed the new information. On Wikiquote pages, the introduction is a one or two-sentence statement identifying the subject of the article. If people wish to know more about the subject, they will look to the Wikipedia article. This is why we link to Wikipedia rather than duplicate what Wikipedia has already said. As for sourced versus unsourced quotes, what makes for a sourced quote is when we're told where the quote originally comes from. Is a quote by Carson Grant, for example, from an interview or a speech? Did he write it in a magazine or newspaper article? A sourced quote lets us know these things, along with the names and dates involved, so that a reader will be assured that these quotes are reliable. If a quote does not provide these facts, it is unsourced. As for stub tags, there's no consensus yet among us for how many quotes are enough to remove a stub; but it would take at least half a dozen quotes before a stub tag should be removed. - InvisibleSun 19:17, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

I reformatted much of this page and removed many of the categories you had created - they are much too specific for WQ. generally we do not create such specific categories here. ~ UDScott 18:11, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

I wholeheartedly support all the changes which UDScott has made. Wikipedia has over 2,500,000 articles, which makes specific categories not only advisable but useful. At Wikiquote we have a little over 16,000 articles and just a small number of people who regularly work on them. It would burden our workload and our system in general if we were to refine categories to the degree that you had done. - InvisibleSun 19:15, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
