2023年9月16日の朝日新聞の報道によれば、治療を受けている少年は原田成男（なりお）で当時16歳。1999年に70歳で死去。治療をしている医師は永田幸一・広島赤十字病院産婦人科医長。撮影場所は広島赤十字病院。初出は、1945年9月4日付き朝日新聞朝刊（大阪本社発行）。
