English: A bronze statue in Newtown, Powys, Wales depicting Welsh textile manufacturer, philanthropist and social reformer Robert Owen who was born and died in the town. Owen is considered one of the founders of utopian socialism and the co-operative movement. The statue was designed by Gilbert Bayes but ultimately finished by William Charles Holland King following the death of Bayes. The statue was unveiled 21 April 1956 by Thomas Williams, 1st Baron Williams. There is a replica of the statue on Balloon Street, Manchester, outside the headquarters of the Co-operative Bank.
