Nippur (Sumerian: Nibru, often logographically recorded as šš¤š , EN.LĆLKI, ["Enlil City;" Akkadian: Nibbur) was a Sumerian city located in modern Nuffar in Afak, Al-QÄdisiyyah Governorate, Iraq. It was the special seat of the cult of the Sumerian god Enlil.
