Song lyrics[edit]

Dreaming Out Loud (2007)[edit]

  • Do you know where your heart is?
Do you think you can find it?
Or did you trade it for something?
Somewhere better just to have it.
Do you know where your love is?
Do you think that you lost it?
You felt it so strong, but nothing's turned out how you wanted.

    Well, bless my soul,
    You're a lonely soul
'Cause you won't let go of anything you hold.

    Well, all I need
    Is the air I breathe
And a place to rest my head.

  • This town is colder now, I think it's sick of us.
It's time to make our move, I'm shaking off the rust.
I've got my heart set on anywhere but here.
I'm staring down myself, counting up the years.
Steady hands just take the wheel.
And every glance is killing me.
Time to make one last appeal for the life I lead.
  • I'm holding on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground.
And I'm hearing what you say, but I just can't make a sound.
You tell me that you need me, then you go and cut me down.
    But wait.
You tell me that you're sorry, didn't think I'd turn around
    And say (That)

It's too late to apologize, it's too late.
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late.
    Too late, oh, oh.

Waking Up (2009)[edit]

  • All the right friends in all the right places.
    So yeah, we're going down.
    They've got
All the right moves and all the right faces.
    So yeah, we're going down.
  • So tell me what you want to hear,
Something that will light those ears.
I'm sick of all the insincere,
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away.
    This time,
    Don't need another perfect lie.
Don't care if critics ever jump in line,
I'm gonna give all my secrets away.
  • Woke up in London yesterday,
Found myself in the city near Piccadilly.
Don't really know how I got here.
I got some pictures on my phone.
New names and numbers that I don't know,
Address to places like Abbey Road.
Day turns to night, night turns to whatever we want.
    We're young enough to say

Oh, this has gotta be the good life,
This has gotta be the good life,
This could really be a good life, good life
Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight,
Like this city is on fire tonight.
This could really be a good life,
    A good, good life.

    • "Good Life", written by Ryan Tedder, Brent Kutzle, Noel Zancanella, Eddie Fisher
  • For those days we felt like a mistake,
Those times when love's what you hate,
    Somehow
    We keep marchin' on.
For those nights when I couldn't be there,
I've made it harder to know that you know
    That somehow,
    We'll keep moving on.

Native (2013)[edit]

  • Lately, I've been, I've been losing sleep,
Dreaming about the things that we could be.
But baby, I've been, I've been praying hard,
    Said no more counting dollars,
    We'll be counting stars.
    Yeah, we'll be counting stars.
  • Old, but I'm not that old;
Young, but I'm not that bold.
And I don't think the world is sold
On just doing what we're told.
    I feel something so right,
    Doing the wrong thing.

And I feel something so wrong,
    Doing the right thing.
    I couldn't lie, couldn't lie, couldn't lie.
Everything that kills me makes me feel alive.

  • I got my mind made up
    Man, I can't let go
I'm killing every second 'til it saves my soul.
I'll be running, I'll be running
    'Til the love runs out,
    'Til the love runs out.
And we'll start a fire, and we'll shut it down
    'Til the love runs out,
    'Til the love runs out.
  • I stared up at the sun,
Thought of all of the people, places and things I've loved.
I stared up just to see,
With all of the faces, you were the one next to me.
  • It's been a long time coming since I've seen your face.
I've been everywhere and back trying to replace
Everything that I had 'til my feet went numb.
Prayin' like a fool that's been on the run.
Heart's still beating, but it's not working,
It's like a million-dollar phone that you just can't ring.
I reached out trying to love, but I feel nothing.
    Yeah, my heart is numb.

But with you I feel again.
Yeah, with you I can feel again.

  • Hope when you take that jump, you don't fear the fall.
Hope when the water rises, you built a wall.
Hope when the crowd screams out, it's screaming your name.
Hope if everybody runs, you choose to stay.
Hope that you fall in love and it hurts so bad.
The only way you can know is give it all you have.
And I hope that you don't suffer but take the pain,
Hope when the moment comes, you'll say:

    I, I did it all.
    I, I did it all.
I owned every second that this world could give.
I saw so many places, the things that I did,
With every broken bone I swear I lived.

    • "I Lived", written by Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella
  • But you’re like the net under the ledge.
When I go flying off the edge,
You go flying off as well.

And if you only die once,
    I wanna die with

    You got something I need.
In this world full of people there’s one killing me.
And if we only die once (Hey),
    I wanna die with you.

Oh My My (2016)[edit]

  • Oh, I know that this love is pain,
But we can't cut it from out these veins, no.
So I'll hit the lights and you lock the doors.
We ain't leaving this room 'til we both feel more.
Don't walk away, don't roll your eyes.
They say love is pain, well darling, let's hurt tonight.
  • I refuse to look back thinking days were better
    Just because they're younger days.
    I don't know what's 'round the corner.
Way I feel right now I swear we'll never change.
    Back when we were kids,
    Swore we would never die.
    You and me were kids,
    Swear that we’ll never die.
    • "Kids", written by Ryan Tedder, Brent Kutzle, Brandon Michael Collins, Steve Wilmot
  • I know I could lie but I’m telling the truth;
Wherever I go there’s a shadow of you.
I know I could try looking for something new,
But wherever I go, I'll be looking for you.

    Some people lie but they're looking for magic;
    Others are quietly going insane.
I feel alive when I’m close to the madness,
No easy love could ever make me feel the same.

    • "Wherever I Go", written by Ryan Tedder, Brent Kutzle, Noel Zancanella

Human (2021)[edit]

  • Somedays I'm treading the water and feel like it's getting deep.
Some nights I drown in the wade of the things that I think I need.
    Sometimes I feel incomplete, yeah,
But you always say to me, say to me.

Oh, you say someday when we're older
We'll be shinin' like we're gold, yeah
    Won't we? (Won't we?)

  • Would you rescue me? Would you get my back?
Would you take my call when I start to crack?
Would you rescue me? Ah, would you rescue me?
Would you rescue me when I'm by myself?
When I need your love? If I need your help?
Would you rescue me? Ah, would you rescue me?
    • "Rescue Me", written by Ryan Tedder, Brent Kutzle
  • Never could imagine the way the story happened:
    You with someone new.
I used to be your focus, now you don't even notice
    When I leave the room.

You weren't even tryin' to make me jealous,
But you can't help it, you can't help it.

  • She said, "Every time I close my eyes I feel like I could disappear.
I could overflow an ocean with the cavalcade of all my tears.
And I know I sound dramatic, but that's just how it feels."
She said, "I'm holdin' to the notion that I'll find something real."
    • "Wanted", written by Ryan Tedder, Casey Smith, Brent Kutzle, Zach Skelton, Tyler Spry
  • Oh, I know that there'll be better days.
Oh, that sunshine 'bout to come my way.
May we never ever shed another tear for today,
'Cause oh, I know that there'll be better days.
    • "Better Days", written by Ryan Tedder, Brent Kutzle, John Nathaniel
