[edit] As Emily Litella

  • Never mind!
  • Chevy Chase: And now as a public service for those of our viewers of Emily Litella, I will repeat the top story, aided by-who else-Miss Emily itella. Our top story tonight:
Emily Letella:: Our flop story tonight:
Chevy: No, Emily. You're saying it wrong. It's top story. Not flop story.
Emily:What, Chedder?
Chevy:Our flop story is the worst story. The top story is out BEST story.
Emily: Oh! Never mind.
Chevy: Good night and have a pleasent tomorrow.
Emily: Good morning. How are you today?
  • What's all this fuss I keep hearing about violins on television? Why don't people want their children to see violins? I thought that Leonard Bernstein concert was just lovely! Now, if they only show violins after 10:00 in the evening, thi little babies will be asleep, and they won't get any musical appriciation! Well, they'll learn to play guitar and bongo drums! And go to Africa and join these rock n' roll outfits. AND THEY WON'T DRINK MILK! I say there should be more violins on television and LESS GAME SHOWS...WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? (Chevy tells her it's Violence, not Violins) Oh! That's different! Never mind.

  • What's all this fuss I hea about an EAGLE rights amendment? Now, I realize that the eagle is the symbol for the United States of America...butI wouldn't want to sit next to one on a bus! Well, I think the eagle has been treated fair enough. We put them on t back of the quarter, didn't we? Well, I'm angry. Do those birds expect to vote? They don't have fingers to push the little levers in the voting booth, and their wings will be caught in the curtins. IT WILL BE A MESS! Between you and me, I we were to give Eagles rights, the next thing you'll know, we'll have to give rights to pigens and parakeets! Why, you won't get a seat in the park! There will little birds sitting on the benches giving US pieces of toast! If we were to give birds rigts, we ought to give rights to parrotts! At least THEY CAN TALK! Not eagles. They don't do a thing! WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? (It's the EQUAL rights, not EAGLE rights) Oh! Well, that's reasonable. Never mind.

  • I can always be distracted by love, but eventually I get horny for my creativity.
  • I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity.
  • It is so hard for us little human beings to accept this deal that we get. It's really crazy, isn't it? We get to live, then we have to die. What we put into every moment is all we have… What spirit human beings have! It is a pretty cheesy deal — all the pleasures of life, and then death.
  • Dreams are like paper, they tear so easily.
