I agree with Vilho that "Singer-songwriter" tells that she's a singer and songwriter. We don't need unnecessary categories.
Why is there no discussion about this on the talkpage?
- There was discussion on Village pump. We must have the definition who is a singer-songwriter - and it's not useful to discuss on every talk page of the artists. "Singer-songwriters are musicians who write, compose, and perform their own musical material, including lyrics and melodies" (en-Wikipedia). This is simple and clear, I think. The one who wants to change it should do it at en-Wikipedia. Every category we have is based on en-Wikipedia - and that's good. And does it make sense to check all singer-songwriters there, make corrections there and after that here? It's like "American politicians", for example: the U.S.A. is only 1/4 of America, but changing "American" to "...from the United States" is impossible.
