Khartabil, 2010

Bassel Khartabil (Arabic: باسل خرطبيل; May 22, 1981 – October 3, 2015) was a Palestinian Syrian open-source software developer. On March 15, 2012, the one-year anniversary of the Syrian uprising, he had been detained by the Syrian government in Damascus. He was then transferred to an unknown location between then and October 3, 2015. His wife later revealed in August 2017 that Khartabil had been executed shortly after his disappearance.
