Belle and Sebastian (Japanese TV series)

Belle and Sebastian was a Japanese animated program that aired on NHK from 1981-82 and on Nickelodeon in English from 1984-89. It chronicles the adventures of Sebastian, a young boy searching for his mother in Spain and also trying to defend Belle, a great white Pyrenees dog who has been labeled the White Monster.

Belle Meets Sebastian

Sebastian: You are so beautiful, I'll call you Belle and you'll be my friend.

Narrator: And that was how the boy who had no friends and the wild dog met. It was the beginning of a friendship that would take them across the Pyrenees into Spain through the most dangerous adventures. But they weren't afraid of the future. They know that whatever happened, they would be together.
