Benjamin Brewster
Appearance
Benjamin Brewster (June 30, 1828 – August 23, 1897) was an American industrialist, financier, and one of the original trustees of Standard Oil.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, while in practice, there is.
- The Yale Literary Magazine, volume 47, October 1881 – June 1882, p. 202. Herrick & Noyes, 1882. The issue attributes the line to a “Benjamin Brewster,” but the Magazine also lists a Benjamin Brewster as an editor for the class of 1882. Since the industrialist Benjamin Brewster was born in 1828 and would have been in his early fifties when this student-edited volume was published, the quotation was almost certainly written by a different Benjamin Brewster.
